Two Door Cinema Club Concert

Hola everyone.

So, like I told you in my latest post – yesterday’s post to be exact – I’ve just been to another Two Door Cinema Club concert. I know, exciting stuff, right?

.

I think most of you already know how much this band means to me, because I’ve pretty much talked about it everytime I mention it. And if some of you haven’t heard, I’ll just say it again. Also because I love this story too much. So, TDCC were my first real concert ever. Seriously. It was four years ago and actually my mum had to drag me with her kind of. I didn’t like the band from the beginning, I thought their music was kind of stupid. Crazy, I know. But a few days before the concert I started listening to their music and I completely fell in love with it. And the concert was soooo fantastic. I also bought my first band merch or concert shirt there, which I now have a huge collection of. So yeah, it all started with this band. And the rest is what we call history.

.

After this concert and this tour they kind of disappeared, only to release one tiny EP in a matter of 3 years. And now that they’ve released their new album last autumn, another tour had to come. And of course I had to see them again. I mean I saw them live at Reading last year, but seeing them again, after 4 years, in the same venue, nearly on the same date, was just a must for me.

.

And to be honest, the concert was just mind-blowing (as expected). My friend and me were pretty early so when we got into the venue, there were about 50 people there. So I probably don’t have to mention that we got to be quite close to the stage, third row actually. But of course the place filled up during the first and the second support act. Oh yeah, speaking of them, the first one was called “Parcels” and it was like they had just used a time machine to get here but actually belonged to the 70s or 80s. Long hair, jeans up right to the stomach, disco music and the perfectly matching dance moves. It was so fascinating for me to watch them on stage. And the second one was called “Blaenavon”, a band from England where you could already sense their Englishness as soon as they got on stage, before even playing one note. They were more on the rocky side, so enjoyed them a little more than the first one.

.

And then we had to play the waiting game, as always. But after half an hour they finally got on stage. And the funniest thing was that before the concert I had told my friend that I thought they would be starting with their song “Cigarettes In The Theatre”, first because it’s an extremely empowering and motivating song, so the perfect one to start with, and second because they also started their set at Reading with it. And then they actually played it as their first song. So amazing.

.

Yeah and then the concert went on and on and it just got better and better (and hotter and hotter to be honest, I was a total mess at the end). The played so many old song which I had hoped for but also some new ones and for me it was the perfect mix. I loved that we were standing so close to them so I could really watch the expressions on their faces and their movements. Also the crowd was amazing, there was such an overwhelming dynamic and power in the small hall, I loved it. And you could really see how much they enjoyed playing for us which just makes a concert ten times better.

.

And after one and a half amazing hours it was over. I was hot, my voice and throat pretty damaged, as well as my ears. And I was craving for air. That’s when you know the concert was just perfect. And actually, it really was perfect. It reminded me why I love this band so much. For me they are the best indie band you could find, seriously. And I think that will never change. They really do have a special place in my heart and I can already see myself jumping around and screaming the lyrics at one of their next shows. Plainly because they and their music make me so freaking happy.

.

So yeah guys, there you go. That’s what I experienced last night. I had such an amazing time, I can’t wait for the next tour. I hope you enjoyed this post and if any of you were at the concert or know the band, don’t hesitate to say something. Oh and as always pictures of the concert are down below. Enjoy. And, as always, thanks for reading. x

My current favorites

Hola everyone.

I know I’ve been quite lazy the past months when it comes to chatting with you about music, especially my current favorites. So I thought why not update my list a little and share a few amazing songs with you.

.

But actually I wouldn’t call these songs the songs of the month. Mainly because I’ve been listening to them a lot longer now and because this month has just started, so a music of the month lost wouldn’t make a lot of sense now, would it?

.

Anyways, due to me being in Berlin and having a lot of time for myself, I got to listen to music a lot. As loud as I wanted. Whenever I wanted. And after five tough months after Reading festival I let myself listen to the bands again who I saw live there. And one of them is Fall Out Boy (of course). And then the best thing ever happened – Edward Christopher freaking Sheeran finally came to life again and blessed us with two fantastic, amazing, perfect songs which I haven’t been able to get out of my head ever since. And then I stepped across a band I’ve always had stowed at the back of my head, right in the music section of my brain, and again discovered how amazing they are – I’m talking about You Me At Six. And of course I came across some more new songs, some old ones too, and they altogether create this amazing soundtrack of my current life. And here is the complete list. Enjoy.

.

  • Fall Out Boy – Disloyal Order Of Water Buffaloes (you know when FOB finished their set at Reading, I wrote down their entire setlist – and yes I could remember it all – except one song which I didn’t know; and then I heard this one and it all made sense, this was the last song I had been looking for and oh my god it’s beautiful) (link)

  • Martin Garrix aka Area21 – Spaceships (after googling for days I finally found the one song Martin always plays at his shows and I’ve always enjoyed so much; it’s even better in a crowd, live, open air in the summer) (link)

  • Imagine Dragons – Amsterdam (after seeing them live at Reading I actually complete forgot about them, despite the fact that their show was mind-blowing; and then I found this one song, this amazing indie song whose melody at the beginning gets me every time) (link)

  • Ed Sheeran – Castle On The Hill and Shape Of You (guys, what can I say? He’s perfect, his songs are perfect and he certainly makes the world a better place and I love him; aaaand I’m not sure if you’ve read my last post and noticed the little note at the end but I seriously got tickets to see him live in Zürich and i’m so freaking excited I can’t even tell you how much) (COTH: link / SOY: link)

  • You Me At Six – Take On The World (I’ve had a listen at pretty much all of their albums now but their new one “Night People” is a masterpiece, I love how they slowed it all down a bit and stepped onto the indie road) (link – sorry, there’s only this live version available)

  • La La Land Original Motion Picture Score / Justin Hurwitz – Mia’s & Sebastian’s Theme (Late For The Date) (like I said in my review of the movie – link – the soundtrack of this masterpiece is breathtaking and this particular song follows you through the whole movie and it just hives me goosebumps every time I listen to it) (link)

.

So yeah, there you go. Those are my current favorites. I really hope you enjoyed this post and if any of you want to chat about music or anything else, you know I’m right here. And until then, as always, thanks for reading. x

A dream of a movie

Hola everyone.

So, like I said in my first post of today – Fashion Week Day 4 & 5 – this day is a little bit different. Because, and I guess you noticed it already, there are two posts happening today. And here comes the reason why.

Yesterday, after I had brought my parents back to the airport and gotten home, I made my way to the cinema. And yes, I know, I go to the cinema a lot, but it’s cinema season and there are just too many good movies out there that are just waiting for me to watch them. And yesterday La La Land was the chosen one.

.

To be honest, I didn’t really know what to expect from the movie. I mean, seven Golden Globes nominations, all of the won, and now 14 (!!!) Oscar nominations. Before I was shocked about the amount, I mean, 14 nominations is unbelievable. But now, after watching the movie, I wouldn’t be surprised if they walk out of the award show with 14 Oscars, seriously. But mostly I was a little bit sceptic because usually I’m just not the musical type. And I thought the story was a little bit too weak to win so many awards. But now I understand.

.

So let’s get to the most important part – the movie itself. First of all a little description:

The movie is about Mia, an actress who tries her best to get into the big Hollywood scene, and Sebastian, a jazz pianist who has made himself the challenge to save jazz. After running into each other quite a lot and after a period of really not liking each other, they slowly notice that they are meant to be. But as nice as the whole romantic, living in Los Angeles part seems, there is always the aspect of trying. Trying to fulfill the dreams. Trying not to disappear in the city of stars. And trying to believe.

.

For me, the whole movie is about dreaming. And dreaming big. And believing in your dreams and trying your best to fulfill them. And maybe that’s one of the reasons why I love the movie so much. Because I’m a dreamer. And of course the whole movie is just pure magic. The sound editing is mind-blowing. The costume design and set design feel like one big colorful heaven and fit perfectly. The music is fantastic and so emotional, I had to cry and had goosebumps for like hundred times. As well as the singing and dancing (I never would have thought that Ryan and especially Emma are such talented singers and dancers). And of course, the two actors, Emma and Ryan, are freaking amazing. Personally I can’t imagine anybody else in their roles, nope. They just fit perfectly. And the roles are made for them. Also thinking that Ryan learned how to play the piano just for the movie. And seeing how amazing he’s now, that’s breathtaking.

.

Overall I think this movie is a true masterpiece. It’s funny, romantic, colorful, sparkling, tragic and so full of energy and love for music that it just becomes a movie that will go down in history. A movie people will watch with the same love in 20 years like they do now.

.

So, if any of you get the chance to watch it, please just do it. Even if you don’t like musicals. Or the story. Or just anything else about it. I don’t think there’s anyone out there in the world who doesn’t love the movie, honestly. So, please just give it a try and let it spread it’s magic. Oh and here’s the link to the trailer: link

And if any of you have already seen the movie, please don’t hesitate to discuss it with me, I’m really curious what you’re all thinking about it. And until then, I hope you liked this post (and the movie) and, as always, thanks for reading. x

He is back

Hola everyone.

Oh my god. It’s happened. Finally. He is back. Edward Christopher Sheeran is finally back. Say it louder for those in the back. Thank you god. And yes, you guessed it right. I am beyond excited. BEYOND.

.

Guys, you know how much of a fan I am of Ed. I mean, I freaking love him. There’s this one special little space in my heart that just exists for him. Nobody else has excess to this, just him. And after seeing and hearing him again today, this space literally takes up my whole heart. Holy moly, I still can’t get over it.

.

I really really really hope that all of you guys already had the chance to gives his two new singles a listen. I mean, you cannot not listen to them. He is all over the internet right now. And already toping the charts, which is soooo damn crazy. How long have the songs been out now? 10 hours? That’s unbelieveable, seriously.

.

But I get it. They are perfect. They deserve the first and second spot in the charts. And all the apprecitaion. And I love how Ed shows us a new side of his talent. His single „Shape Of You“ is like the perfect radio and party song. Because it’s literally about going out and meeting a girl there. For me, it really reminds me a lot of Justins new songs, especially the beat. It’s just an awesome, totally catchy single that won’t leave the radio charts for a loooong time, that’s for sure.

.

And now let’s talk about the other song. The song that made me fall in love with Ed even more – „Castle On The Hill“. This is something I would call angelic. The song is an hommage to Ed’s childhood, to his friends and I love it. It’s so personal and deep and his perfect voice and the beats of the guitar just fit in together so well. A match made in heaven. Seriously. Also, he did a live version of it just today at BBC Radio and it’s even better than the studio version, if you ask me. Because that’s just him. Him and his guitar, like it always was.

.

To be honest I can’t even begin to tell you guys how excited I am for his new album ÷ – or “Divide” – and for the new tour, of course. I swear, I’ll step onto a plane for this guy. And like it’s always with him, it’s just going to be as good as all his other stuff, maybe even better – like he said.

.

So guys, please please please go and have a listen at the two songs. And tell me what you think about them, I’m so curious whether you like them or not. And until, I hope you enjoyed this post and as always, thanks for reading. x

I got myself a M&G

Hola everyone.

So, actually, this is kind of a funny story. And it’s probably one of the proudest moments of my life, because as you know, I’m a shy little bird, just learning to get out of its nest.

.

Anyways, that’s a whole other story. The thing I really want to tell you about is the concert I went to with my friend Leni this week. She had visited me for 6 days and the concert was like the perfect ending of amazing 6 days. Actually, it was her idea, because she wanted to see him – oh, by the way, it was a Tom Odell concert – and I thought “hey, why not?”. So we got our tickets and headed off to the venue.

.
We got there a little late because why should we stress ourselves and just in time for the support act to come to its end. The band was called Jane’s Party and I have to admit, I was pretty amazed by their set. They are a young up and coming indie pop rock band and it was really nice to hear some kind of indie rock before Tom would take the stage with his piano.
So, they played their set and then we had to wait for Tom, of course. And in that time we went over to the merch stand and I noticed the black markers who were lying on the table. And I was like “hey, maybe they’re going to come out and do a little signing session”. Because the support act doing things like that is so common here, I’ve been to three concerts and it alwaaays happened. So I was already pretty excited, even though until this very evening I had never heard of the band.

.
Then we got back to the space we had decided to be ours, but soon Leni told me that the drummer of the band had just gone to the merch stand. And I was like “oh my, I have to get an autograph”. Sadly, Leni was too nervous and shy – which I am usually too – so I went over to him all by myself. And the funny thing is, when I got there he told me that I could get a CD for any price I wanted. I had actually just given Leni my last cash, so I just had 5 euros left. And he seriously took them. And then he signed my ticket and gave me two – not one – TWO CDs. And I couldn’t believe it. I went back to Leni with the biggest grin ever, I thought that was soooo cool. I was seriously amazed.

.
And then Tom came and played his show and although his music isn’t really what I usually listen too, I really enjoyed the show. The band was amazing, he was fantastic and there was a whole lot of energy in the room and it just overwhelmed me so much that I just had to love the show. Which I did, for real.

And then the show ended and Leni and I sat down to wait until the other people had left and we could leave the venue more easily. And then I saw that the other band mates of Jane’s Party had come out and I just had to get their autographs too. So we sat there and waited for the people to leave. While staring at the hot lead singer of the band, who made us both pretty nervous, because he seriously looks like a young DiCaprio and I’m not even kidding.

.
So when there were finally less people chatting with them, we walked up to them. At this time, Leni had just overcome her shyness and also wanted to meet them. We first talked to the guitarist called Tom who was soooo damn nice. He actually asked us for our names and dedicted the CD to us. And I was thinking “I don’t want this to be like get a sign and just say thanks and leave”. I wanted to get to know them, be nice and just a normal human being doing conversations so I randomly started chatting to him. And it was so cool. And I was soooo damn proud of myself for that. Because as I said, usually I’m even too shy to talk to somebody new on the phone, so until now talking to bands was like completely out of my mind. But at that moment I just did it and it was awesome. We talked about the tour and everything and he was sooo nice.

.
Then we waited for the next one – the hot one called Devon or DiCaprio 2.0. – as suddenly another band mate came up to us and asked us if we he should sign our CDs. And of course we said yes. Then he went away but came back again after like a second to ask us if we wanted to take a picture because he – and I quote – “couldn’t just let him (DiCaprio 2.0.) get to take all the pictures”. And I thought that was so funny and so TRUE.

.
And then again there was this moment of total awkward silence and I was like, I don’t want to just stand here, saying nothing. So I again just started a conversation and I think he was actually happy that we talked to him. We talked about their tour and that they should come to our country and he told us which cities and countries he would like to visit. And he again asked for our names and told us how happy he was to meet us. It was so personal and nice and I was so happy.

.
And then we waited for the last two members to sign our CDs. Unfortunately we couldn’t talk to DiCaprio 2.0. I actually think that the whole signing part was just some kind of marketing thing for them, but it was great seeing them anyway. And yes, he looked even better up close.

.
And suddenly we noticed that we were like two of the last few people to be in the venue and it was so cool. And when we got out, we walked past Jeff (the one we took a pic with) and he again said goodbye to us and I think that that’s extreeeeemly cute. Because that showed that he was geniouly happy to have talked to us. And yes, I went out of the venue with the biggest smile on my face.

.
To be honest, I’m still shocked that this really happened. I mean, I never thought that I would be able to overcome my shyness and for real talk to a band. A real and freaking amazing band. The both signed CDs are now right on my shelf at home and two of the coolest pieces in my flat. Apart from the signed tickets. I couldn’t be any happier about how this whole thing went and I know that I’ll never forget this evening.

.
For the last part I want to tell you something guys. Please, if you EVER get the chance to meet a band – even if the band is like super small and unknown – go up to them and talk to them. Really. You won’t regret it. And the band will love you for showing interest. Seriously. That’s something I was always scared of but know am aware that it’s one of the greatest things ever. So, just do it (insert Shia LaBeouf voice).

.
So, there you go guys. This is the story of how I got myself a free Meet & Greet. If any of you want to know more about the concert or the band or the meetup, I’m here. And until then I hope you enjoyed this post and, as always, thanks for reading. x

Café Society

Hola everyone.

Soooo, today I want to talk about an amazing movie I watched a few days ago. One that totally brought me back to the feeling of nostalgia. Another enormous gift brought to us by the magnificent Woody Allen. And one that feels like a dream.

.
I’m pretty sure that by reading the title you’ve already guessed which movie I’m talking about and yes, you are right, I’m talking about Café Society. I think this movie fits perfectly into Allens previous works like Magic In The Moonlight or Midnight In Paris. They all circle around the late 30s and how the people lived and especially in this one it’s all about this times society – the so-called café society.

.
Actually, the movie is a about a young guy named Bobby who travels to Los Angeles to work in the movie business for his uncle, who is in a pretty high position when it comes to making movies. And while being there he falls in love with a girl that isn’t like all the others, but somehow their love isn’t meant to be. Oh and let’s not forget his older brother who doesn’t always stay on the legal path when it comes to business. And so the adventure begins.

.
For me, the whole movie felt like a dream and actually the whole cinema experience. I watched the movie in a really old theatre, which actually only has one screen and therefore only plays one movie. And the whole room for the audience looked like a theatre and old music was playing and the audience was also so special – much older than me and still so chilled and cool. So the movie and the cinema couldn’t have fitted any more perfectly.

.
Overall, I probably couldn’t have had a better movie night. The movie itself was fantastic and so were the actors and of course the whole look of the movie and also especially the soundtrack. It featured that kind of old music that just makes you feel like you stepped onto the streets of Paris the 20s or 30s, full of romance, luxus and the happiness of life. And that’s why I love it so much.

.
So yeah, what a great movie. Thanks to Woody Allen for creating another piece of a dream. And as you can all probably guess, I can just highly recommend this one to you. And if you are in that kind of movies, you won’t regret it, I promise. And if any of you want to chat about the movie or anything else, I’m here. And until then I hope you enjoyed this post and, as always, thanks for reading. x
