New Music Friday

Hola everyone.

And welcome back to another Friday. And, also, to another episode of our all-time favourite series – the New Music Friday. Amazing, new and exciting music that you can relax and/or get hyped to. Music that you can fall in love with. Could there be any better way to start off the weekend? I don’t think so.

.

As the last New Music post was done at the end of May, you can probably imagine the huge bulk of music I’ve collected over the past two months. I don’t think the list has ever been that long. But I’m honestly so so so happy I get to share all these fantastic songs with you guys. There’s so much waiting for you to discover. Ed just released his new collab-album, or as he calls it, his new project. Amber Run are back in the game. Two Door Cinema Club also moved on to their new phase with their new LP. Tyler still owns my heart with his reconstructed versions of some songs. And Hippo Campus blessed us all by releasing all their demos. I mean, what more could you wish for? The more music, the better. So, let’s jump right in and please enjoy.

.

Antisocial – Ed Sheeran ft. Travis Scott

To say that this new album and also this new song blew my mind would be a huge understatement. I mean, we all know Ed and his typical style of music. You get the idea. Good. Now throw all of that away. Because “No.6 Collaborations Project” is anything but what you would expect to hear from Ed. And that’s exactly what makes it this good. Especially the last song, “Blow”, with Bruno Mars and Chris Stapleton is absolutely mind-boggling. I was so shocked when I listened to it for the first time. Actually, I think I’m still a bit shocked. I won’t spoil the surprise, just listen to it yourself.

But that’s not the song I want to share on this list. It’s “Antisocial”, with Travis Scott, featuring the weirdest music video ever. I still have no idea what’s going on or what the idea behind it was. I just know that I absolutely love the song and its vibe. That’s a hype up song right there. Well freaking done, Ed. And Travis.

.

.

Affection – Amber Run

Ever since hearing “I Found” by this absolutely amazing band, I’ve been attached to them and their music. Joe, their lead singer, has such an incredible, distinct voice that I really don’t know how to describe it. They are just one of those bands that you listen to whenever and wherever and their music will always be great and make you feel good. Which is also why I’m so damn happy that they’re back with new music. I honestly can’t wait to see them live. Finally.

.

.

Wallflower – Larkins

This is one of my newest finds, but I’m so happy I stumbled upon it. You know, every single year, when the weather gets nicer and everyone starts to cheer up and the sun tries to burn you alive once in a while, I try to look for a few perfect summer hits. And this right here is one of them. While listening to it, I can already see myself lying in the sun in my garden or on my way to a festival. It’s pure summer.

.

.

So Many People – Two Door Cinema Club

Oh, how I long I’ve waited for this album to come out. And I have to say, although it has some ups and downs, I’m so damn glad the guys are back in the game and doing exactly what they want and love. Some people might say that compared to their last album “Gameshow”, their new “False Alarm” isn’t really much of a change, but I don’t think so. And this song right here proves it. TDCC never fail to grow. Nor to make me love them even more.

.

.

Runaway – Half Alive

Sometimes I’d really love to give YouTube a big thank-you-kiss on the cheek. Because if it wasn’t for this amazing platform, I would’ve never found this band and I would’ve never gotten the chance to listen to this beautiful song and watch this stunning music video. If you aren’t a fan of this band already, you definitely need to check out this song and all their other stuff. They’ve got big things ahead of them, I just know it. And I’ll be right with them to experience it all.

.

.

Superlike – The Academic

Well, well, well, as if we weren’t here just about a year ago. A year has passed since I found this band and fell in love with their music. Since I saw them live and then loved them even more. Now, a year later, nothing has changed. I still love them. I still want to see them live again. And they still manage to release absolute hits you can easily get addicted to. They just know exactly what they’re doing and this song shows that. I’m not going to make the really bad pun and say I superlike it… but I do superlike it.

.

.

What I like – Archie Faulks

Another one of my newest additions to the list and a slow one as well for a change. As far as I can tell, Archie is one of those artists who’s are just getting started and I’m already so excited to see where his path will go.

.

.

Chlorine & My Blood (Reconstruct Versions) – Twenty One Pilots

Honestly, guys, do I need to say anything? I don’t, right? I think I’ve talked enough about this phenomenal performance in one of my latest posts (click me), though I could easily talk about it for hours and hours and hours. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve already watched this video since they put it on YouTube. And I still can’t get enough of it. Though I think I never will. Tyler’s talent just never fails to fully blow me away, especially with these two performances right here. During My Blood, I highly recommend paying extra attention to minute 3:28. It’s definitely one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard. This band is such a blessing, honestly. Wow.

.

.

Everything Means Everything Meant Everything – Hunny

Guys, it doesn’t get any newer than this song. Hunny just released their new album “Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.” (yes, that’s really the title of the album) and I’m honestly so happy that it’s finally out and about. Thank god. I’ve waited so long for this. Though it definitely was worth the wait, because it’s simply fantastic. It’s a Yes. Now, can they please come tour in the UK so I can see them in London? Thanks.

.

.

Kentucky & Chapstick (Demos) – Hippo Campus

Have you ever had the urge or maybe just the pure interest to listen to demo versions of songs of a very cool, very great band? Well, ask no more, because your wish just got granted. Hippo Campus did it. They released all their demos from their latest album “Bambi” and now I basically want every single band and artist to do the exact same thing. Yes to more music. To more like these two songs. So damn good. Also, fun fact, when I first listened to “Kentucky” I immediately started to cry and I honestly can’t tell why. Again proves that music can trigger emotions simply by having a special rhythm. The power.

.

.

Best Part of Me – Ed Sheeran ft. YEBBA

Well, we started off this list with Ed so we might as well end it with him. I’m not gonna say much about this, just that Ed is an angel, especially towards the end, that YEBBA is breathtaking and that this is what heaven must sound like.

.

.

And that’s it, guys. These are the incredible songs I’ve been in love with the past few days and months. All of them are very special, very beautiful and very unique in their own ways. And I’m honestly so happy that I get to share them with you and hope that you love them just as much as I do. As always, please don’t hesitate to leave your thoughts and comments down below. And, of course, I wish you all a lovely weekend and thanks for reading. x

New Music Monday

Hola everyone.

And welcome back to my blog and another New Music post. This time, a Monday one. I thought I’d change it up a bit and start this week off by sharing all the songs and hits we’ve you that I’ve fallen in love with over the past few weeks. As always, I hope you enjoy them just as much as I do. Oh, and I hope you’ve all had an amazing weekend. And that the following songs will make this week even better for you. So, without further ado, let’s get right to it, shall we?

.

It Won’t Always Be Like this – Inhaler

I present to you my current favourite song. And I know, who, why, what? Well, basically, I saw this band together with my mum at the Great Escape festival about two weeks ago and immediately fell in love with them. Not only are they amazing live, but all of their songs are fantastic as well. And I might just add that Elijah, the lead singer, is the son of Bono, so now you know where they get their talent from. I seriously can’t get enough of this band and am so excited for what’s to come for them in the future.

.

.

Hi – Indoor Pets

Another amazing band I got to see at the Great Escape festival. And oh wow, what a show it was. If you’ve ever had the desire to see a moshpit in a tiny room, packed with about a hundred people, go and see them, because they sure can guarantee a energetic-moshpit-packed concert. I loved every single second of their set and am so glad I found them.

.

.

Lula, I’m Not Mad – Hunny

Honestly, I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve already listened to this hit right here. I mean, I’ve always been a big fan of Hunny, basically, because their music is freaking awesome. But now that their new album is just about to be released and they’ve put out this gem, I’m even more excited. If you ever feel like you need a bit of a happy push, go and listen to this song. It works miracles, trust me.

.

.

Satellite – Two Door Cinema Club

I think I don’t really need to explain why this song is part of this list, right? I mean, TDCC has been MY band since 2013, ever since my very first concert, so yeah. I love them deeply and literally cannot wait for their upcoming album. Also, I’ll be seeing them live again at the beginning of July, together with The 1975, so you could say it will be like 2013 all over again. A family reunion, how lovely. Also, the video for this song is so good and so bad at the same time, I love it.

.

.

Devil Town – Cavetown

Another very recent find of mine, thanks to the amazing lineup of Sziget festival. They added a few last names a couple of weeks ago and, lucky for me, Cavetown was one of those names. I’m honestly so excited to see him at Sziget, it will be such a great show.

.

.

Headspace – Lewis Capaldi

Oh, how long I’ve been waiting to finally be able to listen to this song over and over again. Quick storytime for context: when I saw Lewis last year in October here in Brighton, I wasn’t as big of a fan as I am today. So I was standing there, in the crowd, taking it all in when he began singing this very song. Suddenly the crowd went really quiet and all I could hear was Lewis and his guitar. And while I stood there, listening to him sing, I knew that I was witnessing something utterly magical. I cried. And fell deeply in love with Lewis and his talent. A few weeks after that I saw him again in London, cried once more and now, nearly half a year later, his new album is finally out, with this song on it. Whenever I listen to it, I’m immediately thrown back to the show in Brighton and feel this incredible gratitude. That’s what Lewis’ music does to you.

.

.

So, there you go, guys, these are all the songs I’ve been loving the most the past few weeks. As already mentioned, I really hope that you enjoy them just as much I do. As always, please don’t hesitate to leave your thoughts and comments down below. And until then I wish you all a great week, and, of course, thanks for reading. x

New Music Friday

Hola everyone.

And welcome back to my blog – after quite some time, I might say. I’ve missed you guys, honestly. But on the other side, can you believe it’s already been over three weeks since my last post? And five days since I came back to Brighton from my break? I for sure can’t. Time is honestly flying by in full speed, it’s totally crazy. But I’m not here to moan about time and you surely aren’t here to listen to me doing that, so I’ll stop it right now. Today, we’ve all gathered together to not only celebrate this blog finally blooming again but also to have a little party. And guess what, I brought the music. I know, I know. I’m just that thoughtful. And there did happen quite a lot in the music scene while I was at home on my break, so right behind me, in a metaphorical way speaking, there’s a pretty big pile of music that’s just waiting to be shared and listened to. So, let’s get going, shall we?

.

Kitchen Sink – Twenty One Pilots

It probably won’t surprise you that this list starts off by the one and only Twenty One Pilots. But this time it’s not one of their newer tracks, but a really old one, from their album ‘Regional at Best’ from the year 2011. I recently re-discovered the lp and basically totally fell in love with it all over again. And ‘Kitchen Sink’ for me is the one song of the album that stands out the most. Just the overall meaning and all the work that went into it never fails to blow my mind. Even more so, because you can actually hear Tyler’s raw emotions. Such a masterpiece.

.

.

Stressed Out – Twenty One Pilots

Well, what can I say? There can never be enough Twenty One Pilots, can there? I recently found this live version of ‘Stressed Out’ on YouTube and after first being completely shocked that it only has about 5.000 views, I was even more shocked as soon as I started listening to it. I think apart from when I heard ‘Bandito’ and the ‘Sahlo Folina’ chorus for the first time, I was never so in love with Tyler’s voice. This is definitely the most beautiful version of the song that I’ve ever heard.

.

.

SOS – Avicii ft. Aloe Blacc

When I heard that Tim’s team and friends would be releasing the tracks he was working on before his passing, I felt my stomach drop. As most of you will probably know, Tim’s music was a big part of me growing up and my musical journey, but I wasn’t really expecting to hear any new songs. But here it is, the new single he worked on, together with Bonn and Albin Nedler and Aloe Blacc. Needless to say, I had a few tears rolling down my cheeks while listening to it for the first time. Such a beautiful track. I wish Tim was still here to share it with us himself.

.

.

Talk – Two Door Cinema Club

Oh how long I’ve been waiting to finally be able to say that TDCC have released new music. I’ve missed these guys so much. And I’m honestly so happy that they are back again. I may still be clinging onto their indie rock kind of sound from 2013, but I can’t deny that it’s simply impossible for me to not enjoy their newer sound as well. I really can’t wait to listen to their full album.

.

.

Curls – Bibio

This is one of those songs that I usually listen to while writing or cooking. Or if I’m feeling a bit over-emotional on a car ride. Which happens quite often, to be fair. And I know I’m usually sticking to indie, but it’s nice to listen to something like this once in a while.

.

.

Only Friend – Wallows

Holy moly, this freaking song. I can’t even begin to tell you how long I’ve been waiting for their debut album ‘Nothing Happens’. I remember lying in my garden at home and starting to listen to it and then it kicked off with this song and I couldn’t believe it. I’m planning on doing a whole post on the album in the next few weeks, but I just had to include this song in the list. It’s just too good. Pure indie goodness.

.

.

Good Excuse – The King’s Parade

This is another very new track I just recently stumbled over. And I can’t really tell why, but it kind of reminds me of a mix between Lewis Capaldi and OneRepublic. As if you had put both of these in a box and shaken it really good. Which is a good thing, to be honest, because they are both absolutely amazing. Just like this song right here.

.

.

So Now What – The Sins

If any of you guys have ever seen the movie ‘Wish I Was Here’ by Zach Braff, then you’ll probably know why this song is part of this list and where I’m coming from. It’s just another one of those tracks that will always be good. For all eternity.

.

.

Who Could You Be – HalfNoise

Most of you guys will probably already know about my deep love for HalfNoise, aka Zach Farro, aka the guy most people in the world will know as the drummer from the uber-amazing band Paramore. But guess what, Zach is also doing his own thing and I can’t get enough of it. He’s got the whole indie deal nailed down, no joke.

.

.

Mountain – HalfNoise

Long time no see, ha? No, but for real, I had to include a second song by Zach, I just had to. That may also be because I recently found out that he will be playing at the Great Escape festival here in Brighton and I honestly can’t even begin to tell you how utterly excited I am.

.

.

Sin – Kakkmaddafakka

Such a weird band name. And maybe an even weirder band. And I know what I’m talking about because I just got to see them live last week. I’m not going to lie, it was such a cool party, oh my god. And they are even better live than on the studio versions. The room was nearly bursting with energy.

.

.

HELP – AREA21

It wouldn’t be a ‘New Music Friday’ list if Marty wasn’t mentioned in any possible way, would it? So, here we have him, together with his friend Maejor. I’m usually not the biggest fan of rap and RnB, but what those two have created with Area21 is just incredible. Also, the meaning of this song right here is so good and important, I was shocked when I first listened to it. I’m really happy to see Marty address some current issues. Way to go.

.

.

Style – Foster The People

When will these guys finally go on tour, so I can finally see them live? They are right up on my list of bands I still need to see and, to be honest, amazing songs like this one don’t really make it any easier for me. But I’m not complaining in any way, please give us more. More more more of this.

.

.

You Might Find Yours – Tom Rosenthal

And last but not least we have the ultimate king of ‘New Music Fridays’ – the one and only Tom Rosenthal. This time shaking us all up with a spoken word song, that might hit a bit too close to home. Spot on, as always. But we wouldn’t expect anything less from this musical genius, would we?

.

.

So, there you go, guys. Here’s another New Music Friday and another big big big celebration of music. I can just repeat myself – I’m honestly so happy and feel so honoured that I get to share all of these fantastic tracks and my obsession with them with all of you. It really means the world to me. As always, I hope you enjoy them just as much as I do. Please don’t hesitate to leave your thoughts and comments down below. And, of course, I wish you all a nice weekend and thanks for reading. x

New Music Friday

Hola everyone.

And we’re back with a new “New Music Friday“. I hope you’re all doing good and had an awesome week. Just a little update from my side: this week has been pretty amazing and god, guys, the sun is finally out and it’s just so nice. Walking around in Vienna at night has been my favorite thing to do lately, it’s so warm. I’m also already looking forward to the weekend and I hope you are too and that this little selection of songs can contribute to your weekend playlist. Please enjoy.

.

Thought I Told You – The Academic

If you’ve been following some of my latest posts, then you know that this is the band I just saw live last week (here’s the post). And I mean, I loved their music before, but since then I’ve learned to really appreciate the fact that I got to see them live. They’re really awesome.

.

.

Standing On Ghosts – Two Door Cinema Club

Well, well, well. Who would’ve known that TDCC was hiding such a bop from me all these years. You guys know my relationship with this band and I just adore their music, especially their older songs, and this is one of those. They just recently released it again to celebrate the anniversary of their very first album. And thank god they did, because this here is freaking amazing.

.

.

Moving On – Sarah and the Sundays

This is one of the songs, that Spotify recommended to me and I just adore it. I mean, it perfectly fits this time of the year, when everything starts to bloom and become alive again. The perfect song to listen to while lying in the sun, maybe reading a good book or chatting with a friend.

.

.

Fresh Air – FLOWVERS

The same goes for this sun. Such a fantastic spring/sommer song. I don’t know how the algorithms of Spotify work, but hell, whatever they are doing, they are doing it bloody well. They give me exactly what I need.

.

.

Sad Boys / All I Wanna Do – TRASH

This here is one of those bands where I love listening to their music but never really go into my fangirl mode. But that doesn’t change the fact that their music is freaking amazing. And again, thanks to Spotify for recommending this and pretty much all their other songs to me, I owe you one.

.

.

Ride Or Die – The Knocks ft. Foster The People

Guys, if you want to listen to the spring/summer song of the moment, then you just reached the right place. I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty convinced that it’s this one. I’ve seriously heard this song in pretty much every single store I’ve been to the past week. It’s literally everywhere. And the thing is, it’s actually so awesome. I mean, I love Foster The People and their sound is perfect for this song. It just fits.

.

.

Cos Love (If You Miss It) – Tom Rosenthal

I’m sorry guys, but it wouldn’t be a music playlist without Tom being a part of it. I just love his music so much. Tom, can you please go on tour, like, right now? Or at least when I’ve moved to the UK? Please. He’s literally my number one on my list of musicians I want to see live. I need to hear this song live. I need to hear all of his songs live. According to him, this song right here is the best song he’s ever written and I mean, I can’t deny that. It’s just so cute and romantic and sad. I love it.

.

.

So yeah guys, there you go. Those are the songs I’ve been loving the past days and weeks. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Oh and please don’t hesitate to leave your thoughts down below. And, as always, I wish you all an amazing weekend and thanks for reading. x

Two Door Cinema Club Concert

Hola everyone.

So, like I told you in my latest post – yesterday’s post to be exact – I’ve just been to another Two Door Cinema Club concert. I know, exciting stuff, right?

.

I think most of you already know how much this band means to me, because I’ve pretty much talked about it everytime I mention it. And if some of you haven’t heard, I’ll just say it again. Also because I love this story too much. So, TDCC were my first real concert ever. Seriously. It was four years ago and actually my mum had to drag me with her kind of. I didn’t like the band from the beginning, I thought their music was kind of stupid. Crazy, I know. But a few days before the concert I started listening to their music and I completely fell in love with it. And the concert was soooo fantastic. I also bought my first band merch or concert shirt there, which I now have a huge collection of. So yeah, it all started with this band. And the rest is what we call history.

.

After this concert and this tour they kind of disappeared, only to release one tiny EP in a matter of 3 years. And now that they’ve released their new album last autumn, another tour had to come. And of course I had to see them again. I mean I saw them live at Reading last year, but seeing them again, after 4 years, in the same venue, nearly on the same date, was just a must for me.

.

And to be honest, the concert was just mind-blowing (as expected). My friend and me were pretty early so when we got into the venue, there were about 50 people there. So I probably don’t have to mention that we got to be quite close to the stage, third row actually. But of course the place filled up during the first and the second support act. Oh yeah, speaking of them, the first one was called “Parcels” and it was like they had just used a time machine to get here but actually belonged to the 70s or 80s. Long hair, jeans up right to the stomach, disco music and the perfectly matching dance moves. It was so fascinating for me to watch them on stage. And the second one was called “Blaenavon”, a band from England where you could already sense their Englishness as soon as they got on stage, before even playing one note. They were more on the rocky side, so enjoyed them a little more than the first one.

.

And then we had to play the waiting game, as always. But after half an hour they finally got on stage. And the funniest thing was that before the concert I had told my friend that I thought they would be starting with their song “Cigarettes In The Theatre”, first because it’s an extremely empowering and motivating song, so the perfect one to start with, and second because they also started their set at Reading with it. And then they actually played it as their first song. So amazing.

.

Yeah and then the concert went on and on and it just got better and better (and hotter and hotter to be honest, I was a total mess at the end). The played so many old song which I had hoped for but also some new ones and for me it was the perfect mix. I loved that we were standing so close to them so I could really watch the expressions on their faces and their movements. Also the crowd was amazing, there was such an overwhelming dynamic and power in the small hall, I loved it. And you could really see how much they enjoyed playing for us which just makes a concert ten times better.

.

And after one and a half amazing hours it was over. I was hot, my voice and throat pretty damaged, as well as my ears. And I was craving for air. That’s when you know the concert was just perfect. And actually, it really was perfect. It reminded me why I love this band so much. For me they are the best indie band you could find, seriously. And I think that will never change. They really do have a special place in my heart and I can already see myself jumping around and screaming the lyrics at one of their next shows. Plainly because they and their music make me so freaking happy.

.

So yeah guys, there you go. That’s what I experienced last night. I had such an amazing time, I can’t wait for the next tour. I hope you enjoyed this post and if any of you were at the concert or know the band, don’t hesitate to say something. Oh and as always pictures of the concert are down below. Enjoy. And, as always, thanks for reading. x

Welcome to Westworld

Hola everyone.

First of all I want to apologize for not posting anything on friday. I’m currently having some health issues and being a hypochondriac doesn’t really help in such situations. So yeah, I kind of got into a deep hole of sadness and anxiety, but I had a really important talk with mum and somehow she brought me back up again. That means that I’m slowly getting up and out of my hole and concentrating on the positive things.

.

And actually this blog is something that makes me really really happy and I don’t want to let any of you down and I just love writing, so I thought I’d post something today. Better late than never. And because I’m currently having no lectures and uni is starting in two weeks, I have some time to update myself of all the tv shows and movies I’ve missed in the past three months when I was in Berlin.

.

And one of this tv shows is called Westworld. Some of you probably already know it or have seen it. And some of you probably haven’t, so…

.

Let’s start with a short description. Overall the series is about a theme park called Westworld, far far in the future, where people can go to – like the name says – live in the wild wild west. But there something quite special about it – all the actors there are robots. But life-like ones, so you never know if they are real or not. Also, as a guest, you can do whatever you want. You can hurt them, but they can’t hurt you. And at the end of the day all their memories are washed away. But after so many years of perfect functioning, the park seems to slowly fall apart and the robots, or hosts like they are called, begin to come alive.

.

Exciting, I know. Actually I started watching this series when it was released, but let’s be honest, I’m good at English, but true, real american English is a whole new level. So I waited for it to be available in German which it is now. I’m currently on episode six I think (please don’t spoil anything) and I’m in love, seriously. Usually I’m not the person to watch crime shows or just thriller series, I’m more of the Scrubs and New Girl kind. But Westworld is really blowing my mind. And after finishing one epsiode, I just need to watch another one, it’s so gripping.

.

So yeah, that’s the tv series I’ve been spending my free time with for the last week. If any of you are watching it too or have been able to watch it, please don’t hesitate to hit me up. And until then sorry again for the delay and I hope you enjoyed this post. And as always, thanks for reading. x

Also I’m going to a Two Door Cinema Club concert and I’m so freaking excited, I can’t even describe my happiness. So get ready for a cool concert post tomorrow.
