The Band with the K

Hola everyone.

And welcome back to this new week. I hope you’re all doing great and that so far your Monday hasn’t been all too bad. On my behalf, I’ve got so much to tell you guys that I don’t even know where to start. And everything’s so exciting and I’m so glad that I get to share it with you. Otherwise I think I’d burst or simply bore all my friends and family into delirium – probably the second one, but oh well.

.

Anyway. In order to at least start ticking off all the topics on my list, today I’d like to tell you about the uber-amazing concert I went to last Friday. Those of you who’ve been following me and my posts long enough will probably know this band. No joke, if you haven’t heard of these guys you’re seriously missing out on something great, because these boys are freaking fantastic. And yes, I’m talking about the one and only band called Kraftklub. Yes, they’re German. Yes, they’re all pretty much crazy, as are their shows. And yes, I freaking love their music. I know I’ve already talked about them so many times, but I just can’t help myself. And when I saw that they would be doing a show, open-air, in the middle of summer and, on top of that, also at my favorite venue ever, I just had to see them again, although it was my actual fourth time. But hey, if a band is that good, you can’t see them often enough, am I right?

.

So, the concert was at the Arena in Vienna and like I said, it was an open-air concert, which is such an amazing concept on its own. I just really love the venue like crazy, because it doesn’t just have those special indie and alternative vibes to it, it also features a small lawn you can chill on before the show and the whole place has this kind of tilted ground. I know, what a rubbish description. What I mean is that the ground gets lower the closer you get to the stage, which also means that you can easily have perfect sight of the stage, because, like I said, those in front of you will always be standing just a bit lower than you. And that’s so cool, because let’s be honest, I’m not the tallest person and whatever gives me the chance to look over most people at concerts simply gets a yes.

.

So, the venue was amazing. And of course the show itself was too. Even more than that. God, I had so much fun, I can’t even put it into words. You guys have to know that Kraftklub shows are something else. Like, seriously. Firstly, because, like I mentioned, the guys are pretty crazy and weird and funny, in the best way possible, and secondly, because they have this special fanbase that just knows how to party and perfectly syncs with the band. And then there’s their music, which is like a mix of pop and indie and rap and is just so so cool and so much fun to sing and dance and jump to. And just the whole dynamics and atmosphere are so overwhelming and exciting and they completely draw you in and believe me, even if you don’t like the music, sooner or later you’ll start bobbing your head and it won’t end there. And last but not least there’s Felix, the lead-singer/rapper and for me the heart of the band or at least the show. Because while the other guys just simply step from one place to another, Felix floats, climbs, jumps and tops everything with dramatic hand gestures and a huge smile on his face. Watching this guy dance and party to every single song really gives me life and it’s just so so much fun.

.

In hindsight, I’d say that out of the four shows I’ve attended, this one has to be my favorite. And not just because of the phenomenal thing that happened during the encore, which I’m going to tell you all bout now. Buckle up. So, as you can probably guess, I know how Kraftklub shows work, I know what happens and when. Thus, when they went off stage before the encore, I knew they would pop up at some other place as a surprise. For bigger crowds they usually use some kind of mobile platform, which they use to “drive” through the crowd. And that’s why, while all the others there were screaming for the encore, I was twisting and turning my head in search for the platform. And then I found it, right at the back of the lawn, next to the tower for the sound and lights techs. And I got all excited and showed it to my mum and was like “THAT’S where they’ll be in just a minute!!!”. And it was so funny, because I was pointing at it, clearly seeing the mics that had already been placed on it, and everyone around me followed my gaze and then looked at me like I was crazy. And I thought “yeah yeah, now you think I’m crazy, but you just wait for what will happen in just a minute”.

.

Mum and I then decided to just make our way to the platform and started pushing through the crowd. And guess what, we got there right when the boys stepped on the platform. And it was so funny, because even then most people didn’t realize what was happening and Felix was like “hey everyone, we’re right behind you. I know, it’s a bit confusing.” Guys, we were so so close. And it was so much fun. But that wasn’t the best part. After the song they played on there, Felix proceeded to high five my mum and just a second later I was right by her side, shouting “mum, they’ll stage dive now, watch out”. You have to know that my mum is a teeny tiny person and if one of the boys jumped right at her, they would both end up on the ground with a loud thump. And at first she wanted to get out of the crowd that was building up, but I kept her right by my side and I’m so happy I did. Because just after that they all got ready to crowd-surf right back to the stage – which was quite a way to go, to be honest – in order to continue their official crowd-surf competition. Felix then decided to use the part of the crowd we were standing in. And when he looked at me – I was smiling at him with such a huge grin – I just knew he would go right our way. And before I knew what was happening, Felix jumped and I was holding his hand and tried to push him over the crowd. And then he was gone again, rolling over the crowd together with the others like a human ball dressed in black and white. Unfortunately he didn’t win – Karl, the second singer and guitarist, did and, if I’m not wrong, also won the whole contest (the show in Vienna was their next-to-last show of their tour before their upcoming chill-out-pause) – but he came second which is also something, right? And I know, some or even most of you probably won’t find this any special, but for me it’s still like the biggest thing ever, because before that I had always watched them do this kind of stuff from afar, wishing I was there, and it was also my very first time of being an actual part of a “a band does a crowd-surf”-moment and it just makes me so happy and feel all excited.

.

Apart from that there was simply everything you could wish for at a Kraftklub concert. Moshpits, people crowd-surfing and rowing on the ground, quite a lot of dancing, loud and pretty amazing music, huge smiles, funny outfits, underpants being thrown on stage (mens ones, for the first time ever, according to them), a spinning wheel to decide which song would be played next and someone being brought up on stage to spin it and of course political speeches and actions from both the band and the crowd. So yeah, a perfect show. But what I enjoyed the most was seeing how happy the guys were. I don’t even know how many times Felix thanked us for being such an amazing crowd and for dancing and singing. Which, I have to say, is seriously true, because the crowd really was something else. It was such a great evening, no joke.

.

So yeah guys, there you go. That was last Friday for me. Oh, and also, just before the concert I drove to my uni and handed in my second bachelor thesis, which means that I’m now officially finished with my studies. How crazy is that? I still remember the first day like it was yesterday. And the concert was literally the perfect way to end it and to celebrate. If any of you guys ever get the chance to check Kraftklub out, please do. They really are such a cool band and deserve all the appreciation they get and so much more. And until then I hope you enjoyed this not so short post about the concert. As always, please don’t hesitate to leave your comments down below and I wish you a great week. And, of course, thanks for reading. x

It’s never enough

Hola everyone.

Okay, let me just tell you about my current situation: right now I’m sat in my bed, it’s eleven minutes past 3 am. Yes, I should be asleep. But am I tired? No, of course not. Why am I not tired? Because I just got home from an amazing concert and I need to share it with you guys.

.

Right now I’m close to being deaf, my legs are killing me, I surely sound like the most extreme chainsmoker ever, so my voice is nearly gone, and I’m just overall so exhausted that I can already tell that it was an amazing night. I’m literally drunk on happiness and excitement. This was my second concert in a matter of the four past days and I couldn’t be happier, no joke. It may sound like I’m completely done, but trust me, this is like the peak of feeling perfect for me. There’s nothing better than concert exhaustion, I love it. And speaking of concerts, I’m of course here to tell you everything about those two past nights, that again showed me how deeply in love I am with live music and that there literally isn’t anything better than that. Okay, let’s get right to it.

.

Monday night – The Academic

Some of you may know these Irish boys, most of you probably don’t. And that’s a problem, a really really big problem, because these guys deserve far more attention than they are getting right now. I’m serious. I personally have to thank my go-to concert ticket platform for recommending this band to me, I would have never known that they were having a concert here without seeing it on my page. The funny thing was, I just saw their name and picture and immediately knew that they had to be an indie band – and of course they are. I even recognized them, so they are one of those bands, where I’m in love with one or two songs, but never really take notice of their names and so on. But oh god, that was a mistake. Because these guys are literally amazing and I’m so so lucky that I got to see them live, especially at such a small venue. I mean, I was literally about two meters away from the stage or even less, it was so cool.

.

Apart from that, the concert was really fantastic. You could really see that they enjoyed being there and that they were thankful for the sold out show and that so many fans and other people came to check them out. I mean, they are all pretty much at my age and right at the start of their career and you could see that. I seriously can’t wait to see them get more and more attention and become one of those big indie bands that sell out huge venues and headline festivals. I know that these boys got it in them, there’s no doubt. Especially after experiencing them live. Craig, their lead singer, really has an amazing voice and overall they were just so great.

.

Oh and speaking of the lead singer, here comes the crazy part of this night. So, I stood there in the crowd with my friend and the show had just begun. And suddenly she tapped me on the shoulder and was like “hey, doesn’t the singer look a little bit like Martijn?”. And I starred at her and was like “whaaat? No, of course not. No.”. And then I turned around and looked at him and then it hit me. This guy seriously – and I’m not joking – could have been Martijn, if his face was just a bit slimmer. Guys, I nearly went crazy. I mean, my brain didn’t know what to do. What do you do when there’s a guy in front of you who looks exactly like someone else, but you know it’s not him and still can’t handle it properly? I just starred at him, to be honest. My friend said that she actually watched the shock spread across my face. I’m sure it was a weird and funny sight. But hey, it was actually the biggest bonus ever, because now I know what Martijn would look like if he was the singer in a band – and holy moly, he would look good. I’m just curious whether anyone has ever told Craig that… Oh well.

.

.

Thursday night – The Wombats and Co.

And here we are again. A show that just ended four and a half hours ago and a show I still have to process. God, it was so so amazing. I don’t even know where to begin. Okay, I’ll just start at the Co.-part, their two support acts. Number one: The Night Café. And number two: The Magic Gang. Both were more than fantastic and I’m so happy that I got to see them both, as I adore their music. I gladly got to the venue pretty early and ended up in the fourth row, where I stayed throughout the whole show. It’s so cool, when you get a perfect spot at a concert without having to push past people and fighting for it. But I have to say, those two support acts couldn’t have been any more different. I mean, yes, they both played indie pop/rock music and they both were incredible, but besides that they were so different. The Night Café literally consists of four young guys, probably all younger than me, that looked so chilled up on that stage, that if I hadn’t known we were standing in a concert venue, I would have thought that they were playing at home in their garage. It was seriously that chilled. And they were all wearing lounge/sportswear, which just added up to that. But I absolutely love their music and their set was pretty cool too, so it was all good.

.

The Magic Gang were just as fantastic, but like I said, also different. Older, wiser, more put together and maybe a little more awake, I would say. Oh, and they are from Brighton, which just made it even better. Once again you could really see that they had fun playing on that stage for us and that made me happy too. I also have to mention that their music is even better live, it gives it another touch of coolness. And that pretty much sums up their whole set – it was just so cool. Really really awesome.

.

And now we’ve reached the main act – The Wombats. I actually have a little story with these guys, as it was my second time seeing them live, if the first time actually counts, which I’m not so sure of. It was at Reading festival in 2016, but my mum and I were far too late for their set, so we only got to hear like three songs or something like that. Does that count? I hope it does, but of course I had to see them live again, to experience the whole thing. And god, was it worth the wait. They were so so so damn good. It was like a huge party, one that I never wanted to end. I absolutely love that they had a great mix of old and new songs and that they could really show how talented they are. They truly deserved the show to be sold out.

.

There were also some funny parts during the show. The first when Murph’s, the lead singer’s guitar suddenly died and they had to stop in the middle of their song “Emoticons”. But instead of just standing there, we decided to finish the song ourselves and just sang the chorus for about two minutes until the problem was solved. What a great crowd, am I right? Oh, and the second funny incident happened closer to the end of the show during “Let’s Dance to Joy Division”, when suddenly two guys came up on stage, dressed in these huge wombat costumes, and started to dance and jump around. I’m still not quite sure whether it was a prank by their team or if it’s a usual part of the show. I hope it was a prank, that would make it even better.

.

But besides that, the whole show was truly incredible. Like I already mentioned, it was a huge party and just happy vibes all around. I loved the dynamic of the crowd and the overall atmosphere. And I’m so so happy that I got to see these English guys again, the full set this time. Oh and I also have to mention that their bassist Tord was literally the cutest ever. He was jumping around the stage the whole time with the biggest grin ever on his face. His happiness was so contagious, so thanks for that.

.

.

So yeah guys, there you go. Another two nights, another two mind-blowing concerts. I’m so so thankful that I got to experience these and that I’m able to see so many bands live. It’s literally my kryptonite. I also have to thank tonight for reminding me of why I am here and doing all this. Live music is literally the best thing ever and I know that I’m doing the right thing by moving to Brighton to lay the foundation for a career in that sector. As always, I hope you enjoyed this post and please don’t hesitate to leave your comments down below. Oh and I hope you’re all doing good and wish you an awesome weekend. And, of course, thanks for reading. x

Concert overload – Part 2

Hola everyone.

And welcome back to my week of music or the week where I went to two concerts in a matter of five days. As I told you guys in my last post (click here), the first concert I went to was Coasts + The Hunna and the second one was Kraftklub, a german band, which I’m not sure if most of you even know them or not. Anyway, it was a pretty crazy week and I’m so glad I get to share it all with you guys, so let’s get right to part two.

.

So, I think it would be best to briefly explain this crazy band called Kraftklub. When it comes to the german music market, they are a pretty popular band. I mean, the concert was sold out in a matter of weeks. And it was so damn amazing. I actually saw them first at the Sziget festival in 2015. I didn’t even know them before, but their concert was so fantastic and weird, I just had to see them again, especially as I completely fell in love with their music during the past three years. I would describe their music as a mix between rap  and indie-rock, so yeah, it’s pretty amazing.

.

In comparison to the The Hunna and Coasts gig, Kraftklub seemed like a completely different universe. The show was like ten times bigger and just the whole feeling was so different. But I loved it. I loved both concerts so freaking much.

.

And I have to say, Kraftklub really are a bunch of totally weird guys. I mean, at one point, during their second song that night, they just stopped playing. Like, they made no sound and stood completely still. I was like, what the hell is happening right now? And then, after a few moments, they just continued playing again. I don’t even know what they wanted us to do to make them start playing again. It was so funny. And then they came up with what they called the magic wheel of Dr. Destiny. Like, what even? Then they asked two guys from the crowd to come up on stage and just spin it. The clue was, that the wheel was made to decide what song they should play next. It even featured having a break for a smoke. Yep. That’s the kind of weird guys they are. Anyway, the guys spun the wheel and it ended up stopping at a cover song, like any cover song. What came next were basically one of the freakiest four minutes of my life. I don’t know whether I liked it or not. But what I can say is that it was crazy and I laughed a lot. It was pure happiness, actually.

.

The concert basically went on like that. Crazy chats during the breaks, a lot of jumping around and dancing, lots of laughs and even more singing and screaming. It was a trip, all in all. And I’m so happy that I got to see them again. If any of you ever get the chance, I highly recommend you giving them a listen. Or maybe even checking out some of their live shows on YouTube, they are really crazy, no joke.

.

.

And yeah, that’s basically it. I really really really enjoyed the past week and yeah, what can I say? I just love going to concerts. God, I love music so freaking much. I have no idea what I’d do without it. I hope you guys enjoyed this little post and I wish you all a great week. And, as always, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment down below and thanks for reading. x

Concert overload

Hola everyone.

Sorry for not posting anything yesterday. I had quite a busy day yesterday and then went to a concert in the evening. And I know what you’re thinking right now – do I ever spent my time by doing anything else than going to concerts? And my answer is: nope, not really.

.

But jokes aside, this week really has been the week of music. I went to a concert on Monday, to see Coasts and The Hunna, and yesterday to see Kraftklub, a super freaky, super cool band from Germany. And I have to say, both concerts were pretty damn amazing and on the other side completely different in size, style of music and overall feeling.

.

But for this post, let’s talk about pretty much the smallest concert I’ve ever been to – Coasts and The Hunna. Actually, the whole concert trip started of pretty badly as I completely mixed up the dates and already drove to Vienna on Sunday and then went to the venue just to see that the whole place was shut down and that the concert was actually scheduled for the next day. Yes, I was embarrassed. No, I don’t know how that happened or why I didn’t notice the date when I was packing the freaking tickets. And yes, my friend and I did laugh about it quite for some time. So, that was the start. It could have been better, let’s get that right. But hey, we made the best of it, went for dinner and had a nice, long chat. And the concert the next evening totally made up for it, as it was freaking amazing, seriously. I mean, the venue, The Flex in Vienna, is literally just a small club. There were like 200 people, at best. It was so so so small. At first I was even looking for another entrance, but that little stage was really the stage.

.

Anyways, the support act, Coasts, started right after we got in and I have to say, I really really enjoyed their set. I mean, I’ve now been listening to them for three or four years and I’m really happy that I finally got the chance to see them live. Which also surprises me a bit, as I would have never thought that bands like Coasts and The Hunna, which are pretty unknown here, would visit Vienna on their tour. But I’m really really really glad they did.

.

After Coasts The Hunna went on stage and from the first second on, I was sold. I mean, I looooove their music, seriously. It’s like what I love about music in a nutshell. It’s rock and punk and awesome drum beats and an amazing singing voice all in one. I love it. And I loved their show. I was screaming and singing my lungs, jumping around like crazy and just smiling throughout the whole show. It really was breathtaking. Both bands are amazing live and they really know how to entertain a crowd, even such a small one.

.

But apart from all that fantastic live music, my highlight of the night has to be when my friend and I were about to walk out and I just took all of my strength and braveness together and walked up to the lead singer of Coasts to chat. I don’t even know what got into me. I mean, I’m usually the shyest person ever, but there I was, walking up to this guy, ready to talk to him. And I have to say, it was so so so nice. God, he was so nice to me. No joke. When I got to him I quickly said that I loved their set and that I’ve been listening to them for over three years and he got all smiley and thanked me a hundred times and pulled me into a hug. Like, straight out of nowhere. How freaking cute is that? And then we chatted a little bit about their show and their upcoming tour and he said that they would come to Vienna again and I told him about my plan of moving to Brighton and he said that he loved that city and wished me good luck with my studies and that I should come to their show when they’re playing in Brighton and then stay a little bit and say hello, because he will for sure remember me. And then we exchanged names and he hugged me again. And then I went back to my friend, feeling so so so proud. I never thought that I would once be so brave to just walk up to a singer of a band I love, just to chat with him. Without nearly getting a heart attack. I’m really so so proud. And I’m really glad that I walked up to him. One of the best decisions ever.

.

.

So yeah, that was the story of the smallest concert I’ve ever visited and of how I overcame my shyness and talked to a super nice singer and band member. If any of you guys ever get the chance to see these bands live, please don’t waste it. They are really amazing and they deserve all the love and appreciation they can get. I would say that they are pretty underrated. So if you have time, do give them a listen, you won’t regret it, I swear. And apart from that I hope you enjoyed this little post and please stay tuned for Monday and part two of my concert week. And until then, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment down below. And, as always, I hope you’re all doing good, I wish you a nice weekend and thanks for reading. x

Playlist Update

Hola everyone.

Okay, so, today I thought I’d start off this month in the best way possible and give the music playlist a little update and present you guys some of the songs I’ve been loving the most the past few weeks.

.

But first things first – let’s talk about my interview with BIMM. I have to say, the moment I ended the call, I thought it was all over. I mean, I immediately called a friend of mine to chat about it and basically squeal into her ears, but after that, I kind of had the feeling that I hadn’t done well enough to secure my spot at the university. Which would actually break my heart, but let’s not think about that and stay as positive as we can.

.

Anyway, overall I think the interview went pretty well, especially as the nice woman I talked to said that she thought that I was perfect for the course and that she would recommend me for it and send that to the office of the university. Which is like THE THING I wanted to hear. I mean, being told that you are perfect for a course you want to do so so so so bad is like birthday and christmas altogether. I was soooo happy. But I mean, of course I could have done much better. You can’t imagine how nervous I was, goodness. And I’m pretty sure that if I would have had just a little bit more time to think about  my answers, I could’ve come up with better ones. But I guess that’s what we all think after important meetings or interviews. Now I can just wait and hope for the best – which is a place at the uni, of course. God, I want this so bad. Please let me be able to do this degree, please please please.

.

So, that was my interview. I will of course keep you updated – maybe I’ll email the university and ask them how long it will take them to make a decision, because on the website I applied through it says that they have time until the 8th of May and if I seriously have to wait that long, I’ll basically freak out. I’m literally the most impatient person ever, especially when it comes to such important things like a freaking uni application. Oh my god.

.

But okay, there’s that. Now, let’s move on to the most important part of this post, the music playlist update. As you know, I basically live off Spotify, I have no idea what I’d do without it. And I just listen to music, day after day after day. Especially now as I am on my break and have more time available to really enjoy and appreciate all the good music out there. As you all know, I am more the indie-kind-of-person, but I am pretty much open to anything. So, without further ado, here are some songs I love and which I’d highly recommend to you as well. Please enjoy.

.

Boys That Sing – Viola Beach

Whenever I hear the name Viola Beach, I get this sad feeling in my stomach. It’s weird to listen to music from someone who doesn’t live anymore, isn’t it? I know that they could’ve become a big thing, but they already are for me. I just love their music, they were so talented, which this song perfectly shows. The beat is freaking amazing. I hope by sharing this with you guys I can pay tribute to them.

.

.

Dancing on Quicksand / Daft Pretty Boy – Bad Suns

This is a band I’ve somehow always had in my Spotify playlist, but never really knew who they were and what other songs they had. That changed when I just let Spotify do it’s thing two weeks ago and present me any song I would presumably like. And there it was, this amazing band with its amazing songs. And I can’t even help it, one song isn’t enough. So, here are two of my faves.

.

.

.

Bishops Knife Trick – Fall Out Boy

This is my favorite song of the boys newest album “MANIA” and I have to say, it’s freaking fantastic. I just love everything about it. Patricks voice, the beat, the guitars, everything. I just love it. Thank god for this song, this awesome album and this band. Also, I can’t wait to see them in London next month. I’m already so excited, oh my god.

.

.

To The Sea – Seafret ft. Rosie Carney

As always, there can’t be a playlist without a little slow, romantic song, so here it is. You all probably know Seafret, they are a pretty popular band for songs we all know and mostly hear in movies, but never know who they are from. Well, now you do. And this wonderful piece here has to be my personal favorite.

.

.

Number 13 – Nothing But Thieves

This song is kind of a stable in any of my playlists, especially after this breathtaking concert on Thursday. I can’t even begin to tell you how exciting it is to sing the Whoop in the song live, together with the band, with Conor. Definitely something I’ll never forget.  And I already miss them so much. Also, this song is basically a banger, live and as a studio version.

.

.

Piece By Piece – The Hunna

This is a band I know I’ve told you guys about quite a few times by now, but I’m just so intrigued by their music, I just have to share it with you over and over again. Recently I came across this song and I totally fell for it again and yeah, please do have a listen. Also, I am seeing this incredible band live in less than two weeks and I just can’t freaking wait.

.

.

Misery Business – Paramore

And last but not least, I just had to include this awesome piece of music by the marvelous Paramore, because I’ve been completely in love with their music for the last months and this song right here is a classic, I can’t believe it’s already over ten years old. How crazy is that? That’s music history right there. Whenever I need a push, I listen to this song, sing a little, scream a little, do a little air drumming and then I am happy again.

.

 .

So yeah guys, there you go. Those are a few of my favorite songs at the moment and I’m more than happy that I get to share them with you. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. And please don’t hesitate to leave your thoughts down below. And as always, I hope you’re all doing good, I wish you an amazing week and thanks for reading. x

Another Day – Another Concert

Hola everyone.

As you already know me so well, you know that I love going to concerts. It’s like food or the air I breathe, I need concerts to survive. I mean, how boring would life be without live music? Oh my god, I can’t even imagine. So dull.

.

So, in order to not let my life become some kind of boring or dull, I just had to visit another concert and thankfully Nothing But Thieves, one of my favorite bands, decided to pay us a visit. And holy moly, it was soooo amazing. I don’t even know where to begin, no joke.

.

But first let me tell you something about the band. I first got in touch with them about two years ago while dreaming about flying to the UK to attend Reading Festival – which my mum and I then also did, as you all know. I remember falling more and more in love with their music and their style and just the band overall. And when I finally saw them at Reading, I was head over heels in love with them. Especially with Conor, the lead singer. He’s literally the cutest ever and was so emotional at the show at Reading. So when they announced their European tour, I just had to see them again.

.

I am indeed a really really big fan of their music. They somehow sound like nothing I’ve ever heard before. And Conor’s voice is so damn unique, it’s fascinating. And they sound so damn good live, oh my god. I would say that they perfectly fit into the lane of music I love. They are a little bit poppy, a little bit slow, very emotional and deep when it comes to the lyrics and then suddenly they get all loud and heavy and full of amazing beats and guitar riffs. And all of that topped with Conor’s angelic voice. It’s literally everything I could wish for. So yeah, that special mix is really what gets me.

.

And exactly a week ago it was finally time to see them again. Crazy that it was only just a week ago, feels like it ages. The concert was in a pretty small venue in Vienna and completely sold out (props to them). I actually loved the venue, as it had stairs in the back so I didn’t have any problems with the sight. I hate when there are only tall people in front of me, I mean, I’m not the smallest person ever, but especially at concerts platforms come in pretty handy for me. And my mum was happy about that too. So thankfully we didn’t have to worry about not seeing anything.

.

So we got in and that first support act was already playing – a band called Airways, which  I funnily enough already knew beforehand, as one of their songs (it’s called “Mate”) is part of Spotify playlist. So it was no surprise for me that they were amazing. And then the second band came – called The Xcerts – and they were just as amazing as the first one. I really have to applaud NBT for picking such good support acts. They really were a perfect pick. And also the music they played before NBT finally got on stage. Two Door Cinema Club, Foals, The Killers – all the big hits to get us all hyped up. And it worked, I really have to admit.

.

And yeah, then they finally came and god, was I happy. The started off with “I’m Not Made By Design”, which was a perfect start. And then they basically continued playing all the big hits, switching between their old and new album and fast and slow songs. It was really really really amazing. I especially enjoyed “I Was Just A Kid”. I don’t think I never headbanged that much at a concert. I mean, I didn’t headbanged like you’re probably imagining it right now – but I did like the Laura version, the easy version. And I was soooo hyped up, holy moly. I screamed, danced, sang my lungs out and enjoyed every single second like it was my last one.

.

And as I already said, they were so damn amazing. They really are one those bands that sound like 100000000 times better live. Which is pretty hard if you know how amazing their albums sound. And Conor was so freaking cute. I could really see that he was really comfortable being there on that stage. I remember him being all nervous at the Reading show. And comparing it to last Friday, I really do get all proud inside. Because he and his band made so much progress in the last year and I’m so damn happy.

.

But what I especially love about Conor is his humor and his awkwardness. Like, he danced around and smiled and I enjoyed watching him with his bandmates so much. They really are an amazing pack of musicians. And you could sense that they love what they’re doing. Oh and I loved the part when it was just Conor on the stage, with his acoustic guitar that is far too big for his body, but let’s be honest, that just adds even more to the cuteness. He sang a cover of Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin'” and yeah, I of course teared up a bit. It was just too emotional.

.

And, of course, their last song “Amsterdam” really was one of the highlights. Until that point the energy had built up more and more and then when the song started it was ready to burst and it nearly blew the roof off, no joke. The dynamics was freaking breathtaking. We all jumped and screamed and sang and I felt so alive at that moment, I felt like the happiest person on earth. So I really have to thank NBT and their support acts for again creating a night that I will surely never ever forget. Thank you so much for making me so happy. See, that’s why I love music so much. It’s literally my happy place.
