San Cisco

Hola everyone.

You know, when spring has finally arrived and the sun is shining and we can leave the scarves at home, it’s time for a little change in music too.

.

And today I’d like to introduce you to a band I’ve now been a fan of for years. And it looks like they are ready for a change too and just brought out a new single. And I can tell you, this is the spring/summer song of the year – at least it is for me.

.

Honestly, I don’t even know how to describe this band to you. They are an indie band (of course they are) from Australia. But they’re not like the typical indie band. They use synthetizers and sometimes their songs can get really really funky, like they just jumped out of the 70s or 80s.

.

I got to know them in 2015 when my mum and me were planning our trip to Washington. And as always I was looking for a concert there, because we always try to visit a concert in our holidays. That has become some kind of tradition. And I mean, today it has kind of turned around. We don’t look for a concert when we are on a vacation. We find a concert months before and then plan our trips kind of around it. Crazy, I know.

.

So and when I was looking for concerts in Washington, I found this band called San Cisco and gave them a listen. And I looooved it. Unfortunately they had their concert on the exact day we left to fly home again, so yeah. What a pity.

.

But that didn’t stop me from being a fan of them. And so I continued to listen to their music and checking for new tours and so on. You maybe even know them, either because they usually get their spot on my music lists or because they are just freaking amazing and you eventually couldn’t get past them.

.

Their song “Awkward” is like the widest known one. If you’re thinking of an indie pop song, this song is what you’re probably picturing. It can’t get any more indie than this (here’s the link). Actually, the video is pretty weird too, so I’d really recommend you watching it. Oh and please let me hear your opinions, I’m really curious.

.

Another song and probably my favorite is “Fred Astaire”, which is really about this dance guy. I especially like this one because it’s more on the rock-ish side and hey, I’d never say no to a good indie song with a nice beat and guitar (here the link). It’s one of those songs who always put a smile on my face and get me in a superhappy mood.

.

But back to their new song – “Hey, did I do you wrong”. This one just came out last week and I really really love it. It starts of with an amazing guitar piece, which immediately throws me into a happy mood and thoughts of the sun and the beach and pure happiness. But actually the lyrics themselves aren’t even that positive, so here’s to sad songs that sound happy (yes, I’m looking at you Ed…). And if you check out the video for the song, it totally completes the thoughts of vacation and the beach as it shows exactly that (here’s the link for that one too).

.

So yeah, this is one of the songs I’ve been loving at the moment. The perfect song for the perfect weather. If any of you are into indie pop music, please don’t hesitate to give this band a go. And I’d really like to hear what you think about them if you do, of course. And until then, I hope you enjoyed this post and, as always, thanks for reading. x

Eds concert

Hola everyone.

I know you’ve been waiting for this. And honestly, I have too. But I’m literally speechless, I don’t even know where to begin. And if I really start, I think I’ll never stop talking about the most amazing weekend I had and the angel that is Edward Christopher Sheeran. But I guess I’ll just begin and see were this takes us. Let’s go.

.

So, first of all let’s talk a little bit about Zürich. The language – I love it. I don’t know why but somehow seriously every single thing sounds supercute in swiss, no joke. I bet even their arguments sound damn adorable. So, gruezi again to y’all.

.

Besides that I think Zürich itself is a really nice city, at least the old center of it with different coloured houses and small paths and streets, which all seem like a little labyrinth. The only thing I didn’t really like was the actual things the city had to offer. I mean, it’s supercute, but for example when it comes to going shopping I’d have to completely stick to online, as there are none of my favorites shop there – no Forever 21, no Pull and Bear, no Bershka, no Monki, no Weekday. I think you get what I mean. And speaking of money, if I lived there I would be completely broke in less than a year. I’ve been to a lot of cities in my life but never to such an expensive one, I was shocked. 8 euros for a smoothie? Holy moly. But I really liked it overall. Besides of the first day the weather was wonderful and I just really enjoyed visiting a city I’ve never been to before. It makes everything really exciting.

.
And now on to the most important thing – Eds concert of course. And I again, I have no idea where to start. Actually I went to the concert alone. When my mum and I tried to get tickets when the sale started, we seriously just got one single ticket unfortunately – the one for me. That meant I’d be going there alone and I also flew to Zürich alone. It was my first holiday alone – Berlin doesn’t really count as holiday, or? And of course I was a little bit nervous, but I think it was still really amazing. And of course, the concert was as lovely as expected. I had like the most amazing seats, right next to the stage, like ten meters away from Ed. And I was going crazy, no joke. God, was I excited. After three years full of missing him I would finally get to hear and see Ed live again. Heaven, right?

.

I got to the venue at 6, somehow the concerts in Switzerland are like super early. And then the two support acts played – Ryan McMullan and Anne-Marie. And I have to say they were both really good. Ryan was like Ed, playing guitar and singing. And Anne-Marie is like the perfect example for English pop dance music right now, you may know her from her song “Rockabye” with Clean Bandit. So not really my type of music but you could see that she really enjoyed playing and that made me smile.

.

And then it was time to wait for Ed, which was over pretty quickly. And then he finally got on stage and I completely, utterly freaked out. I was, like, so shocked. I mean, there he was, Ed freaking Sheeran, only like 10 meters away from me. For real. It felt like I was dreaming. He started right away with Castle On The Hill, the perfect song to get everyone hyped up. Then he continued with songs like A-Team, Don’t and so on. For me, the whole concert was like one and a half hour of crying with some pauses in-between. Especially when he played Dive, Happier and then Supermarket Flowers on top. I could feel my heart break. Seriously. But it was a good heart break, because I was happy. And still am.

.

To my luck he also played How Would You Feel, which I already fixed as the song I’ll have my first dance to at my wedding. And yes, I do know that this sounds completely crazy. Maybe because there’s not the littlest sight of the guy I’ll actually marry then. But hey, the music is important too, right? And anyways, it was really nice to hear it live, saying nice as a total understatement.

.

And he also played I’m a mess, THANK GOD. I prayed for this one as it is my most favorite song from Ed. I’ve never heard a song with so much power in it. Its strength helped me through a lot and also through quite some tough mornings before exams. And I just really really really love it. And I felt so complete when I could sing it with Ed, together.

.

Another total highlight was You need me, I don’t need you, one of the last songs. I think it was like 7 minutes long or even more. And I just love hearing Ed rap, there’s seriously nothing that guy can’t do. His whole concert left me out of words, completely baffled. His talent is something I’ve never seen before, so amazing. And this song really shows that. His power, strength and pure talent. And his love for music. And that makes me love him even more.

.

If you want to know the complete setlist, here you go:

  • Castle On The Hill
  • Eraser
  • Don’t with a mashup of New Man
  • A-Team
  • Dive
  • Happier
  • Bloodstream
  • Galway Girl
  • Supermarket Flowers
  • Thinking Out Loud
  • Sing
  • You Need Me, I Don’t Need You
  • How Would You Feel
  • Shape Of You
  • Perfect
  • Nancy Mulligan
  • I’m A Mess
  • What Do I Know

.

What Do I Know was actually the last song he played, after telling us the supercute reason why. He said that when he wrote the song he knew that he wanted the last line to be the last thing the audience sang. He wanted us to sing it until we get home and the morning after and for the rest of our lives. So the concert ended with us all singing the line “Love could change the world in a moment” until Ed went off stage and afterwards too. And I really loved that, it made it all even more special.

.

Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever cried so much at a concert. I know I say that a lot, but this time it’s really true. I even cried while walking back from the concert and then lying in bed a few hours later. The whole concert made me so emotional and showed me how lucky I am to be able to do what I do. I mean, I flew to Zürich to see Ed. That’s completely crazy. And believe me, I don’t take anything for granted. Not Ed, not my life and not one little aspect of it.

.

Overall the concert and the whole weekend was a time that I’ll never forget. It brought so much happiness and love into my life. I loved seeing Ed on stage, smiling all the time, telling us how much he missed us, the stage and playing his songs. And god, did I miss him too. I’m so happy to have him back.

So guys, there you go. That was my weekend in Zürich and Ed’s concert. I loved every single second of it and I hope you all loved reading about it. Please don’t hesitate to comment something, maybe some of you got the chance to see him live or visit Zürich too and I’d be thrilled to hear about it. And until then, I hope you’re all doing well and I wish you all an amazing weekend. Actually my 21st birthday is on Sunday, so yey, happy birthday to me. Oh and, as always, thanks for reading. x

Divide

Hola everyone.

Just to let you know, from now on, the 3rd of March is official Ed Sheeran Day for me. And I guess you all probably know why and what I’m talking about. Of course, his new album Divide.

.

What a masterpiece, am I right? I guess the most of you have already had a listen of the album as everyone is talking about it today. The hashtag #Divide was trending for hours on twitter. The album went to number 1 in more than 90 countries within the first few hours of being out there in the world. And to be honest, nothing of it surprises me. Because he deserves it. Ed deserves all of his fame, all the love he gets for his music and for the person he is. And he deserves so much more.

.

But now let’s get to the album. I think on the one side it shows the Ed we all know and love. Stripped back songs, only him and his guitar. But on the other side it also features songs like Galway Girl or Barcelona which to me show a completely new side of Ed. And honestly, as sadly as it sounds, I’m not quite sure if I like that side as much as the other one. Probably because I fell in love with Ed because of Multiply and his songs on there. And because of his show when I saw him live. That’s why I’m used to his slow songs without anything else than his voice and guitar sounds. But I guess I’ll get used to this side too and I’m pretty sure I’m going to love it within a few days, for sure.

.

Apart from that I think Ed knows exactly how to speak to his audience. The first song of the album, Eraser, feels like sitting on the couch with him and listening to him being honest about his life and the music industry and how he got where he is now and whether he’s happy or not. It’s that rap kind of song we all know from songs like You Need Me, I Don’t Need You or Take It Back. And I think we can all agree that he just totally nails it. But as he’s saying himself, he’s not a rapper, he’s a singer with a flow.

.

Then the second song follows and I can tell you, I completely lost it at this part. So I seriously could stay strong for one song, after that the tears just kept coming. Even more because of the later songs, but we’ll get there. I think the mix of the different genres is what makes this album so special and unique, especially when thinking that this is Eds new album, they guy we usually just know to be playing with a guitar and his loop pedal.

.

Due to my love for his slow songs, it probably won’t surprise you that my favorite songs from Divide are slow ones too. Although I’ve just listened to the whole album once – I just couldn’t stand having a heartbreak for a second time on one day – I think I can already say which songs I love the most:

  • Castle On The Hill – I loved this one from the first note on and probably will never get enough of it; also, did you listen to his voice, oh my god, the raspy parts
  • Dive – I think this is like the perfect song, I just love it, also because of the message, I think many of us can relate to it once in a while
  • Happier – this is the song when I really lost it, I could seriously feel my heart break in to million pieces; also, Ryan Tedder wrote it with Ed so it’s no surprise for me that this song leaves me crying on the floor
  • How Would You Feel – this will be playing at my wedding. And yes, I should probably focus more on finding the groom first before focusing on the music, but you know… music is important too. And this song (especially in the live version) is just so angelic and pure perfection, I’ve just fallen in love with it completely.
  • Supermarket Flowers – and that is the song when I knew that it was over for me, I completely cried my heart out, and all the pieces of my heart that I had collected between this song and Happier broke apart again and I haven’t really been able to put them together since then; also, I can’t even describe how sad it makes me to know that Ed lost his grandmother, I hope she’s happy wherever she is now
  • Save Myself – this is actually the last song on the deluxe version of the album and it finishes with the sentence “And before I can love someone else, I’ve got to love myself” and to be honest, I think that is like the most perfect ending of his album, pure perfection

.

So, yeah, this are pretty much my favorites of the album. I know, they are all sad. And yes, I cried through all of them, of course I did. But I think this album isn’t so special just because it’s Eds new album. It also means that he is finally back. Ready to take on the world and bless us with his angelic voice and music.

.

For me, the album makes me even more excited for his concert in two weeks. Thinking that I’ll finally see him again, after so many years. Hearing his voice live, singing his lyrics together with so many people who all share the same love for Ed and his music. I really just can’t wait.

.

If any of you have already listened to the album and want to chat, please don’t hesitate to comment something. And if you haven’t, stop everything you’re doing right now, go and open Youtube and check out his new songs. You won’t regret it, I swear. And until then I hope you all enjoyed this post and of course Eds new album. And as always, thanks for reading. x

.

Ps: I just finished season one of Westworld yesterday and oh my god, my mind is literally blown. I don’t think I’ll be able to wait a whole year for the next season. So so so good. Oh my god.

Two Door Cinema Club Concert

Hola everyone.

So, like I told you in my latest post – yesterday’s post to be exact – I’ve just been to another Two Door Cinema Club concert. I know, exciting stuff, right?

.

I think most of you already know how much this band means to me, because I’ve pretty much talked about it everytime I mention it. And if some of you haven’t heard, I’ll just say it again. Also because I love this story too much. So, TDCC were my first real concert ever. Seriously. It was four years ago and actually my mum had to drag me with her kind of. I didn’t like the band from the beginning, I thought their music was kind of stupid. Crazy, I know. But a few days before the concert I started listening to their music and I completely fell in love with it. And the concert was soooo fantastic. I also bought my first band merch or concert shirt there, which I now have a huge collection of. So yeah, it all started with this band. And the rest is what we call history.

.

After this concert and this tour they kind of disappeared, only to release one tiny EP in a matter of 3 years. And now that they’ve released their new album last autumn, another tour had to come. And of course I had to see them again. I mean I saw them live at Reading last year, but seeing them again, after 4 years, in the same venue, nearly on the same date, was just a must for me.

.

And to be honest, the concert was just mind-blowing (as expected). My friend and me were pretty early so when we got into the venue, there were about 50 people there. So I probably don’t have to mention that we got to be quite close to the stage, third row actually. But of course the place filled up during the first and the second support act. Oh yeah, speaking of them, the first one was called “Parcels” and it was like they had just used a time machine to get here but actually belonged to the 70s or 80s. Long hair, jeans up right to the stomach, disco music and the perfectly matching dance moves. It was so fascinating for me to watch them on stage. And the second one was called “Blaenavon”, a band from England where you could already sense their Englishness as soon as they got on stage, before even playing one note. They were more on the rocky side, so enjoyed them a little more than the first one.

.

And then we had to play the waiting game, as always. But after half an hour they finally got on stage. And the funniest thing was that before the concert I had told my friend that I thought they would be starting with their song “Cigarettes In The Theatre”, first because it’s an extremely empowering and motivating song, so the perfect one to start with, and second because they also started their set at Reading with it. And then they actually played it as their first song. So amazing.

.

Yeah and then the concert went on and on and it just got better and better (and hotter and hotter to be honest, I was a total mess at the end). The played so many old song which I had hoped for but also some new ones and for me it was the perfect mix. I loved that we were standing so close to them so I could really watch the expressions on their faces and their movements. Also the crowd was amazing, there was such an overwhelming dynamic and power in the small hall, I loved it. And you could really see how much they enjoyed playing for us which just makes a concert ten times better.

.

And after one and a half amazing hours it was over. I was hot, my voice and throat pretty damaged, as well as my ears. And I was craving for air. That’s when you know the concert was just perfect. And actually, it really was perfect. It reminded me why I love this band so much. For me they are the best indie band you could find, seriously. And I think that will never change. They really do have a special place in my heart and I can already see myself jumping around and screaming the lyrics at one of their next shows. Plainly because they and their music make me so freaking happy.

.

So yeah guys, there you go. That’s what I experienced last night. I had such an amazing time, I can’t wait for the next tour. I hope you enjoyed this post and if any of you were at the concert or know the band, don’t hesitate to say something. Oh and as always pictures of the concert are down below. Enjoy. And, as always, thanks for reading. x

My current favorites

Hola everyone.

I know I’ve been quite lazy the past months when it comes to chatting with you about music, especially my current favorites. So I thought why not update my list a little and share a few amazing songs with you.

.

But actually I wouldn’t call these songs the songs of the month. Mainly because I’ve been listening to them a lot longer now and because this month has just started, so a music of the month lost wouldn’t make a lot of sense now, would it?

.

Anyways, due to me being in Berlin and having a lot of time for myself, I got to listen to music a lot. As loud as I wanted. Whenever I wanted. And after five tough months after Reading festival I let myself listen to the bands again who I saw live there. And one of them is Fall Out Boy (of course). And then the best thing ever happened – Edward Christopher freaking Sheeran finally came to life again and blessed us with two fantastic, amazing, perfect songs which I haven’t been able to get out of my head ever since. And then I stepped across a band I’ve always had stowed at the back of my head, right in the music section of my brain, and again discovered how amazing they are – I’m talking about You Me At Six. And of course I came across some more new songs, some old ones too, and they altogether create this amazing soundtrack of my current life. And here is the complete list. Enjoy.

.

  • Fall Out Boy – Disloyal Order Of Water Buffaloes (you know when FOB finished their set at Reading, I wrote down their entire setlist – and yes I could remember it all – except one song which I didn’t know; and then I heard this one and it all made sense, this was the last song I had been looking for and oh my god it’s beautiful) (link)

  • Martin Garrix aka Area21 – Spaceships (after googling for days I finally found the one song Martin always plays at his shows and I’ve always enjoyed so much; it’s even better in a crowd, live, open air in the summer) (link)

  • Imagine Dragons – Amsterdam (after seeing them live at Reading I actually complete forgot about them, despite the fact that their show was mind-blowing; and then I found this one song, this amazing indie song whose melody at the beginning gets me every time) (link)

  • Ed Sheeran – Castle On The Hill and Shape Of You (guys, what can I say? He’s perfect, his songs are perfect and he certainly makes the world a better place and I love him; aaaand I’m not sure if you’ve read my last post and noticed the little note at the end but I seriously got tickets to see him live in Zürich and i’m so freaking excited I can’t even tell you how much) (COTH: link / SOY: link)

  • You Me At Six – Take On The World (I’ve had a listen at pretty much all of their albums now but their new one “Night People” is a masterpiece, I love how they slowed it all down a bit and stepped onto the indie road) (link – sorry, there’s only this live version available)

  • La La Land Original Motion Picture Score / Justin Hurwitz – Mia’s & Sebastian’s Theme (Late For The Date) (like I said in my review of the movie – link – the soundtrack of this masterpiece is breathtaking and this particular song follows you through the whole movie and it just hives me goosebumps every time I listen to it) (link)

.

So yeah, there you go. Those are my current favorites. I really hope you enjoyed this post and if any of you want to chat about music or anything else, you know I’m right here. And until then, as always, thanks for reading. x

He is back

Hola everyone.

Oh my god. It’s happened. Finally. He is back. Edward Christopher Sheeran is finally back. Say it louder for those in the back. Thank you god. And yes, you guessed it right. I am beyond excited. BEYOND.

.

Guys, you know how much of a fan I am of Ed. I mean, I freaking love him. There’s this one special little space in my heart that just exists for him. Nobody else has excess to this, just him. And after seeing and hearing him again today, this space literally takes up my whole heart. Holy moly, I still can’t get over it.

.

I really really really hope that all of you guys already had the chance to gives his two new singles a listen. I mean, you cannot not listen to them. He is all over the internet right now. And already toping the charts, which is soooo damn crazy. How long have the songs been out now? 10 hours? That’s unbelieveable, seriously.

.

But I get it. They are perfect. They deserve the first and second spot in the charts. And all the apprecitaion. And I love how Ed shows us a new side of his talent. His single „Shape Of You“ is like the perfect radio and party song. Because it’s literally about going out and meeting a girl there. For me, it really reminds me a lot of Justins new songs, especially the beat. It’s just an awesome, totally catchy single that won’t leave the radio charts for a loooong time, that’s for sure.

.

And now let’s talk about the other song. The song that made me fall in love with Ed even more – „Castle On The Hill“. This is something I would call angelic. The song is an hommage to Ed’s childhood, to his friends and I love it. It’s so personal and deep and his perfect voice and the beats of the guitar just fit in together so well. A match made in heaven. Seriously. Also, he did a live version of it just today at BBC Radio and it’s even better than the studio version, if you ask me. Because that’s just him. Him and his guitar, like it always was.

.

To be honest I can’t even begin to tell you guys how excited I am for his new album ÷ – or “Divide” – and for the new tour, of course. I swear, I’ll step onto a plane for this guy. And like it’s always with him, it’s just going to be as good as all his other stuff, maybe even better – like he said.

.

So guys, please please please go and have a listen at the two songs. And tell me what you think about them, I’m so curious whether you like them or not. And until, I hope you enjoyed this post and as always, thanks for reading. x
