Playlist Update

Hola everyone.

Okay, so, today I thought I’d start off this month in the best way possible and give the music playlist a little update and present you guys some of the songs I’ve been loving the most the past few weeks.

.

But first things first – let’s talk about my interview with BIMM. I have to say, the moment I ended the call, I thought it was all over. I mean, I immediately called a friend of mine to chat about it and basically squeal into her ears, but after that, I kind of had the feeling that I hadn’t done well enough to secure my spot at the university. Which would actually break my heart, but let’s not think about that and stay as positive as we can.

.

Anyway, overall I think the interview went pretty well, especially as the nice woman I talked to said that she thought that I was perfect for the course and that she would recommend me for it and send that to the office of the university. Which is like THE THING I wanted to hear. I mean, being told that you are perfect for a course you want to do so so so so bad is like birthday and christmas altogether. I was soooo happy. But I mean, of course I could have done much better. You can’t imagine how nervous I was, goodness. And I’m pretty sure that if I would have had just a little bit more time to think about  my answers, I could’ve come up with better ones. But I guess that’s what we all think after important meetings or interviews. Now I can just wait and hope for the best – which is a place at the uni, of course. God, I want this so bad. Please let me be able to do this degree, please please please.

.

So, that was my interview. I will of course keep you updated – maybe I’ll email the university and ask them how long it will take them to make a decision, because on the website I applied through it says that they have time until the 8th of May and if I seriously have to wait that long, I’ll basically freak out. I’m literally the most impatient person ever, especially when it comes to such important things like a freaking uni application. Oh my god.

.

But okay, there’s that. Now, let’s move on to the most important part of this post, the music playlist update. As you know, I basically live off Spotify, I have no idea what I’d do without it. And I just listen to music, day after day after day. Especially now as I am on my break and have more time available to really enjoy and appreciate all the good music out there. As you all know, I am more the indie-kind-of-person, but I am pretty much open to anything. So, without further ado, here are some songs I love and which I’d highly recommend to you as well. Please enjoy.

.

Boys That Sing – Viola Beach

Whenever I hear the name Viola Beach, I get this sad feeling in my stomach. It’s weird to listen to music from someone who doesn’t live anymore, isn’t it? I know that they could’ve become a big thing, but they already are for me. I just love their music, they were so talented, which this song perfectly shows. The beat is freaking amazing. I hope by sharing this with you guys I can pay tribute to them.

.

.

Dancing on Quicksand / Daft Pretty Boy – Bad Suns

This is a band I’ve somehow always had in my Spotify playlist, but never really knew who they were and what other songs they had. That changed when I just let Spotify do it’s thing two weeks ago and present me any song I would presumably like. And there it was, this amazing band with its amazing songs. And I can’t even help it, one song isn’t enough. So, here are two of my faves.

.

.

.

Bishops Knife Trick – Fall Out Boy

This is my favorite song of the boys newest album “MANIA” and I have to say, it’s freaking fantastic. I just love everything about it. Patricks voice, the beat, the guitars, everything. I just love it. Thank god for this song, this awesome album and this band. Also, I can’t wait to see them in London next month. I’m already so excited, oh my god.

.

.

To The Sea – Seafret ft. Rosie Carney

As always, there can’t be a playlist without a little slow, romantic song, so here it is. You all probably know Seafret, they are a pretty popular band for songs we all know and mostly hear in movies, but never know who they are from. Well, now you do. And this wonderful piece here has to be my personal favorite.

.

.

Number 13 – Nothing But Thieves

This song is kind of a stable in any of my playlists, especially after this breathtaking concert on Thursday. I can’t even begin to tell you how exciting it is to sing the Whoop in the song live, together with the band, with Conor. Definitely something I’ll never forget.  And I already miss them so much. Also, this song is basically a banger, live and as a studio version.

.

.

Piece By Piece – The Hunna

This is a band I know I’ve told you guys about quite a few times by now, but I’m just so intrigued by their music, I just have to share it with you over and over again. Recently I came across this song and I totally fell for it again and yeah, please do have a listen. Also, I am seeing this incredible band live in less than two weeks and I just can’t freaking wait.

.

.

Misery Business – Paramore

And last but not least, I just had to include this awesome piece of music by the marvelous Paramore, because I’ve been completely in love with their music for the last months and this song right here is a classic, I can’t believe it’s already over ten years old. How crazy is that? That’s music history right there. Whenever I need a push, I listen to this song, sing a little, scream a little, do a little air drumming and then I am happy again.

.

 .

So yeah guys, there you go. Those are a few of my favorite songs at the moment and I’m more than happy that I get to share them with you. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. And please don’t hesitate to leave your thoughts down below. And as always, I hope you’re all doing good, I wish you an amazing week and thanks for reading. x

I’M FREE

Hola everyone.

I know. I know. I know. Where have I been? Did I get stuck in a hole? Did I decide to disappear for a few weeks and start a new life? I have to say, it’s nothing like that. It’s uni. Or it was. Because two days ago, I finally had my last exams and now I’m free. I’m finally free. Free. Free. Free.

.

And I can’t even tell you how much I’ve missed posting stuff on here, talking to you guys. But I just couldn’t afford spending my time on anything else than studying and basically existing. That’s what I’ve been doing the past two weeks. And god, it was exhausting. You have no idea. I finally understand why exam week is called week of hell. Because it really feels like hell. But now it’s over and I’m so freaking happy. And I’ve got so many things to tell you guys. So, let’s get right to it.

.

First of all, the new Fall Out Boy album is out and it’s so damn good, holy moly. At first, due to Young and Menace, I was a little bit worried I’d loose my favorite punk boys. But thank god, I didn’t. The new album is so amazing, seriously. It’s the perfect mixture of punk songs, electronic beats, slow, soulful pieces and amazing guitars and Patricks angelic voice. It gets very close to being perfect, really really really close. Maybe it even is perfect. So I can just strongly recommend it to you guys, please go and have a listen, seriously. If I had to chose, I’d probably say that “Bishops Knife Trick” is my favorite track of the whole album. But let’s be honest, that basically changes after every single listen of the whole album. The songs are just too good. And, in typical FOB manner, the track titles are pretty much the coolest thing ever. I have no idea how they come up with names like “Stay Frosty Royal Milk Tea”, but I’m glad they do.

.

And now, the most important news. Yesterday, in order to end the semester in the most amazing way ever and have a nice party, my mum and I went to a concert, a Nothing But Thieves concert. And holy moly guys, I’m still so damn speechless, it was such a blast. And I know what you’re thinking right now – isn’t that the band I just saw a few weeks ago, two months, to be exact? And yes, indeed it is, you’re a 100 % percent right. You may question now why I would buy tickets to a show I basically went to two months before? And here’s the simple answer: because. And since yesterday, I will always go to see a band I love with all of my heart twice if I can. Because yesterday was easily ten times better than the first show. And I didn’t think that that was even possible.

.

First of all the venue was like a third of the venue in Vienna. The room was packed with people and it was hot as hell. I have no idea why, but somehow Conor, the lead singer, still decided to wear not only one, but two long sleeved sweaters. I was nearly dying there in the crowd, Price, the drummer, was half naked, and then there was Conor, jumping around cuddled into two sweaters. Such a weirdo, I love it. And due to the size of the venue, we were so close to the stage and, especially pleasant for me, close to Conor. We even had some eye contact going on once in a while. And I just loved it so much, watching him and the boys interact and do their thing, being able to notice all the little details about them.

.

Also, I don’t even know how, in the matter of the past two months, they got so much better, they even excelled themselves. It was crazy. You could see how comfortable they were on stage and how much they enjoyed it. Conors voice just gets better and better with every single show and just their whole set too. They are such an unbelievably amazing band. And I loved seeing how happy they were. For me, a show gets a hundred times better when you see that the band enjoys it as much as the crowd. If they are happy, I am happy too.

.

Another highlight was of course the updated setlist which included one of their most amazing songs – Number 13. And god, was it worth it. It’s such a blast live, holy moly. And  a new cover of a song called “Be My Husband” replaced the one of “Free Falling”, which was extra special for me, as it was one of the songs Ed covered during the first show I ever saw him. And let’s be honest, Conors voice is just breathtaking. Thankfully I got to film the whole part of the show, even him chatting with the crowd for a while, laughing and joking around. He’s such a damn cutie. Seriously. Having his laugh on tape is literally the best thing.

.

But, I have to say, my most favorite part of the show has to be when they played “Ban All the Music” and somehow literally everyone went totally apeshit. No joke. I mean, the crowd was amazing throughout the whole show. Jumping around, dancing, crowdsurfing, doing moshpits over and over. Conor even said that it was the best moshpit he had ever seen. But when they played BATM, it got a totally different level of crazy. First of all, the crowd went completely berserk. Then Stu, their tour manager/handy-man, started crowdsurfing out of nowhere. God, I laughed so much. And the boys just followed, jumping around on stage, laughing and joking. At some point Dom, one of the guitarists, even went up to the mic and just screamed a note, while Conor stood next to him, looking at him like “what the hell are you doing???” and laughing his butt off. God, that was such an experience. It wasn’t just a concert, it was so much more.

.

So yeah guys, there you go. That was last night. I also have to mention that it ended in the coolest way possible, because when we walked out of the venue, we walked past the tour bus and I was like “oh my god, how cool. I’ve never been this close to one of these buses.” And there was this little gap in-between the curtains and I just randomly looked at it and there he was, sitting there, eating I don’t know what – Conor. I can’t really explain why, but somehow that was such a special moment for me. Because it’s something completely different when you see someone on stage, doing what they love and what they are best at, and then off-stage, all calm and relaxed, without the whole star appeal. It just was really special.

.

For me it was the most perfect way to end my semester and to start my break. And it was the perfect way of rewarding myself for all the exams and hard work. I think it’s important to give back to yourself once in a while. And I’m so happy that my mum enjoyed it as much as I did.

.

Apart from that, I am just really glad that I get to be at home now for the whole month. And it’s already my last semester of uni. How crazy is that? Time has really flown by. Oh and oh my god guys, tomorrow I’m having my interview with BIMM, you know, the university in Britain I applied for. On the one hand I’m really really really nervous, but on the other hand I’m also so excited. I’ll of course keep you updated. And expect to hear a lot more from me again, I am officially back. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this post and that you’re all doing good. As always, please don’t hesitate to leave your comments down below. And of course, thanks for reading. x

My Songs of 2017

Hola everyone.

The year is really coming to an end, isn’t it? I think not even my shock can change that. And as the year is ending, I thought I’d look through all of the songs I added to my playlist this year and then make some kind of list of my songs of the year 2017.

.

And what a year it has been. There were so many amazing songs and albums published. Ed has pretty much taken over the year with his album “Divide” and became the most streamed artist of 2017. And I’m so proud of him. I really am. And Paramore. Their new album “After Laughter” is pretty much breathtaking. And Nothing But Thieves surprised us all with their amazing new album “Broken Machine”. And I found my love for the fascinating Tom Rosenthal and his beautiful, calming songs. And Fall Out Boy teased their new style of music with three singles and I can just say, I’m pretty stoked for their new, upcoming album which is being released in the first half of January. And Martijn also released so many amazing songs, not to forget the show in Amsterdam I went to. I still can’t really believe that I experienced that. So crazy. And also all the other amazing, unbelievable concerts I attended. I flew to Zürich to see Ed – one of the best nights in my life. I saw Paramore and The 1975 in a matter of three days. I went to a festival to see Kings of Leon for the second time and had some kind of reunion with Two Door Cinema Club in Vienna, the one band it all started with. And so much more. What a crazy, amazing year it has been.

.

So, without further ado, here is my list of the songs of 2017. Please enjoy:

  • The Killers – Mr. Brightside
  • Saint Raymond – Night Crawling (Re-Edit)
  • Bad Decisions – Chills
  • The Hunna – Sycamore Tree
  • Hippo Campus – Monsoon (live)
  • Ed Sheeran – How Would You Feel (Paean)
  • BØRNS – 10,000 Emerald Pools
  • Fall Out Boy – Young and Menace
  • Paramore – Rose-Colored Boy
  • Kristian Kostov – Beautiful Mess
  • Kraftklub – Chemie Chemie Ya
  • Sidney Bechet – Si tu voics ma mère
  • Imagine Dragons – I Don’t Know Why
  • Martin Garrix – Pizza
  • The Wrecks – Favorite Liar
  • Nothing But Thieves – Amsterdam
  • Tom Rosenthal – Bob in the Rain and the Lizard of Hope

.

All of these songs mean something to me. Some of them are my favorite songs of an album. Some are songs I’ve been listening to basically 24/7. Some of them are songs that I just recently fell in love with all over again. And some are connected to really important, lovely memories of this year – whether it was a special moment at a concert, a nice evening on a holiday trip or a track in a movie. They all mean something. And through that they’ve all become a part of me, a part of myself.

.

And also, it seems like I wasn’t the only one who had the idea of doing some kind of musical summary of 2017 – Spotify did too. So they made some kind of list and statistic of my year on Spotify. And it’s pretty fascinating, I have to say. But it describes me in the very best way.

.

.

I think it perfectly shows what I enjoy most in music. The only thing that shocks me is that Martijn is missing from the list. But I think it’s so funny that the list of my favorite artists starts off with Tom Rosenthal and Ed, both really slow, calming musicians and then it does like a 180 degree change towards the more indie rock and pop zone with Nothing But Thieves, Fall Out Boy and Paramore. Also, I’m actually pretty proud of the amount of minutes I’ve listened to music – 17.408. That’s like 12 whole days. How crazy is that? Especially when you look at the amount of minutes of 2015 – just about 4700, I think. That’s a pretty huge increase, I’d say.

.

So yeah guys, there you go. That’s my musical year. And actually I already have so many concerts planned in 2018 – I think I’ve never had so many concert tickets waiting in my drawer. And I can’t wait to attend all of them. And I can’t wait for all the albums, songs, concerts and festivals that are waiting for me, waiting to be published, waiting to be attended. I’m really excited to see what 2018 has in store for me. And until then I’ll just enjoy what 2017 gave me. And I hope you do too.

.

Also, guys, I won’t be posting anything on Monday, as it’s Christmas, of course. So I wish you all an amazing Christmas and nice holidays and happy days with your loved ones. And I hope you enjoyed this little post. And, as always, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment down below and thanks for reading. x

Another Day – Another Concert

Hola everyone.

As you already know me so well, you know that I love going to concerts. It’s like food or the air I breathe, I need concerts to survive. I mean, how boring would life be without live music? Oh my god, I can’t even imagine. So dull.

.

So, in order to not let my life become some kind of boring or dull, I just had to visit another concert and thankfully Nothing But Thieves, one of my favorite bands, decided to pay us a visit. And holy moly, it was soooo amazing. I don’t even know where to begin, no joke.

.

But first let me tell you something about the band. I first got in touch with them about two years ago while dreaming about flying to the UK to attend Reading Festival – which my mum and I then also did, as you all know. I remember falling more and more in love with their music and their style and just the band overall. And when I finally saw them at Reading, I was head over heels in love with them. Especially with Conor, the lead singer. He’s literally the cutest ever and was so emotional at the show at Reading. So when they announced their European tour, I just had to see them again.

.

I am indeed a really really big fan of their music. They somehow sound like nothing I’ve ever heard before. And Conor’s voice is so damn unique, it’s fascinating. And they sound so damn good live, oh my god. I would say that they perfectly fit into the lane of music I love. They are a little bit poppy, a little bit slow, very emotional and deep when it comes to the lyrics and then suddenly they get all loud and heavy and full of amazing beats and guitar riffs. And all of that topped with Conor’s angelic voice. It’s literally everything I could wish for. So yeah, that special mix is really what gets me.

.

And exactly a week ago it was finally time to see them again. Crazy that it was only just a week ago, feels like it ages. The concert was in a pretty small venue in Vienna and completely sold out (props to them). I actually loved the venue, as it had stairs in the back so I didn’t have any problems with the sight. I hate when there are only tall people in front of me, I mean, I’m not the smallest person ever, but especially at concerts platforms come in pretty handy for me. And my mum was happy about that too. So thankfully we didn’t have to worry about not seeing anything.

.

So we got in and that first support act was already playing – a band called Airways, which  I funnily enough already knew beforehand, as one of their songs (it’s called “Mate”) is part of Spotify playlist. So it was no surprise for me that they were amazing. And then the second band came – called The Xcerts – and they were just as amazing as the first one. I really have to applaud NBT for picking such good support acts. They really were a perfect pick. And also the music they played before NBT finally got on stage. Two Door Cinema Club, Foals, The Killers – all the big hits to get us all hyped up. And it worked, I really have to admit.

.

And yeah, then they finally came and god, was I happy. The started off with “I’m Not Made By Design”, which was a perfect start. And then they basically continued playing all the big hits, switching between their old and new album and fast and slow songs. It was really really really amazing. I especially enjoyed “I Was Just A Kid”. I don’t think I never headbanged that much at a concert. I mean, I didn’t headbanged like you’re probably imagining it right now – but I did like the Laura version, the easy version. And I was soooo hyped up, holy moly. I screamed, danced, sang my lungs out and enjoyed every single second like it was my last one.

.

And as I already said, they were so damn amazing. They really are one those bands that sound like 100000000 times better live. Which is pretty hard if you know how amazing their albums sound. And Conor was so freaking cute. I could really see that he was really comfortable being there on that stage. I remember him being all nervous at the Reading show. And comparing it to last Friday, I really do get all proud inside. Because he and his band made so much progress in the last year and I’m so damn happy.

.

But what I especially love about Conor is his humor and his awkwardness. Like, he danced around and smiled and I enjoyed watching him with his bandmates so much. They really are an amazing pack of musicians. And you could sense that they love what they’re doing. Oh and I loved the part when it was just Conor on the stage, with his acoustic guitar that is far too big for his body, but let’s be honest, that just adds even more to the cuteness. He sang a cover of Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin'” and yeah, I of course teared up a bit. It was just too emotional.

.

And, of course, their last song “Amsterdam” really was one of the highlights. Until that point the energy had built up more and more and then when the song started it was ready to burst and it nearly blew the roof off, no joke. The dynamics was freaking breathtaking. We all jumped and screamed and sang and I felt so alive at that moment, I felt like the happiest person on earth. So I really have to thank NBT and their support acts for again creating a night that I will surely never ever forget. Thank you so much for making me so happy. See, that’s why I love music so much. It’s literally my happy place.

.

.

So yeah guys, there’s that. Another unforgetful concert and another story for me to tell and another reason for me to love music and concerts and bands. It all makes me so happy. And I really hope that you enjoyed this little post too. Please don’t hesitate to leave a comment down below. And, as always, I wish you all an amazing weekend and thanks for reading. x

New Music Friday

Hola everyone.

Well, as it is Friday and the first day of autumn (yey), I thought I’d start this weekend and new season of with a quite chilled post. And what could be more chilled than music? So, welcome to another New Music Friday.

.

The past weeks I’ve been basically listening to what I’m usually listening to – indie music, some punk rock, some EDM to get me in the mood for the Amsterdam Dance Event next month and of course some nice, slow music à la Ed and many more. Oh and as the new Nothing But Thieves album just came out, I’ve of course been listening to this mind-blowing LP too. Pretty much nonstop. And like this, I’ve also found some amazing new music – some may not really be this new, but at least it was new to me. You could say that I love every single song on this list and I hope you do too. Please enjoy.

.

Banners – Firefly

I think Banners is still quite unknown and underrated and guys, this needs to change. Right now. Just listen to this. It’s literally perfect.

.

Ed Sheeran – Perfect

This is actually Ed’s new single and let me just say one thing – this song will be played at my marriage. That’s fixed already, there’s no arguing about that. I think ed wrote this song for his girlfriend Cherry and just imagine having written this song for you by your boyfriend. Holy moly.

.

Nothing But Thieves – pretty much everything

Guys, I know I’ve made an entire post about their new album, but please give those guys a listen, really. This video here is a livestream they did for NME and it features pretty much all of my favorite songs of the new album. Also it’s crazy to see how amazing they are live and how funny Conor, the lead singer, is. Such a dork, but so cute.

.

Martin Garrix – Pizza

Yes, that’s really the title of the song. He just loves Pizza. No joke. But besides the funny name, the song is amazing. Especially the classical instruments at the beginning and the end. I really can’t wait to hear this live next month.

.

Tom Rosenthal – Bob in the Rain and The Lizard of Hope

Some of you may Tom Rosenthal and his pretty dramatic, but so beautiful type of music. This song here has to be my favorite song of his. You could say that it’s a little bit depressing, but honestly, there’s no better music to listen to when it’s raining outside and your curled up with a cup of tea. Perfect for autumn.

.

Also, guys, I just found the coolest thing ever. Apparently Tom wrote and recorded a song about Melania Trump and it’s the funniest thing ever. Oh my god. Please check this out.

.

Fall Out Boy – The Last Of The Real Ones

This is FOBs new song and, yes, I may be missing their old music, but this one is really really good. Besides the music video, which is pretty creepy and weird. What’s up with the Llamas anyway? And why does Pete have to be the victim?

.

Logic – 1-800-273-8255 (ft. Alessia Cara & Khalid)

This is pretty much one of the most important songs out there right now with one of the most important meanings. At least for me. Especially in combination with the video and guys, just listen to the lyrics. I love how it goes from “I don’t wanna be alive” to “I want you to be alive” and then ends on “I finally wanna be alive”. This development in one song. I mean, that’s just mind-blowing. I think it’s amazing that there are artists out there who shine a light on such important topics like suicide and life and hope and not giving up. It’s so damn important. And this song is such a masterpiece.

.

So, guys, there you go. I hope you like this small selection of songs I’ve been listening to the past weeks. And please don’t hesitate to leave a comment down below, I’m really curious about your opinion. And until then I wish you all an amazing weekend and, as always, thanks for reading. x

Broken Machine

Hola everyone.

I know I said that I’d do some kind of series about my trip to Paris, but something really important happened today. So important that I just have to break in the series. Today is the day that Nothing But Thieves released their new album. You can probably guess it. I’m shook.

.

Nothing But Thieves – a band I’ve now known for over a year. A band I fell in love with the second I listened to their music. And a band I’ve been following ever since, especially after getting the chance to see them live last year at Reading and experiencing their amazing show. And now, after nearly two years or so, their new album called “Broken Machine” is finally out. And I can tell you, I’ve waited for quite a while for this and now that it’s here, it’s completely blowing me away.

.

During the last few weeks, they have actually already given the world bits and pieces of the new LP. A new single, another one, an acoustic version and then even two more songs. And they were all mind-blowing. But now that I’m able to listen to the album in full, it really feels like a complete piece. A piece of art. So, without further ado, here’s the track list and some bits of my opinion:

.

  1. I Was Just A Kid
    • I would say that this is seriously the perfect beginning of the album. It shows their way of combining good, old rock n’ roll with some new indie tunes and of course Conor Masons mind-blowing voice (he’s the lead singer). I actually froze while running up the stairs because I was so shocked while listening to it for the first time.
  2. Amsterdam
    • This was the first new song they released and for me the perfect representation for what they are capable of doing. It has the most amazing intro with a beat that really sticks to your memory. And then it gets louder and faster and better. It just pops.
  3. Sorry
    • I present you the second single and definitely my favorite song of the whole album. I was so blown away when I first listened to it, I actually couldn’t stop playing it for over a week. I’ve probably listened to it more than a hundred times. It’s so good, no joke. Also, there’s an acoustic version available, which sometimes – depends on the mood – is even better. I love it.
  4. Broken Machine
    • For me, this is the one song you would never expect to hear from this band, especially not the intro. It’s kind of weird, really mechanical (HA), and then turns into this rock song with Conor’s voice in the background. And the lyrics are amazing, no wonder it’s the title track.
  5. Live Like Animals
    • If I had to choose, I would actually say that this one is the one song I enjoy the least. I don’t really know why. It’s probably the guitar chorus. But apart from that part, the song is crazily good. I just adore Conor’s voice so much.
  6. Soda
    • This song is what you could call the ballade of the album. It’s really chilled compared to the other songs and really calming, despite the guitars in the background. And somehow the lyrics are kind of depressing (“I don’t wanna be myself”), but I think that just adds the special touch to the song.
  7. I’m Not Made By Design
    • This is the kind of song I can already imagine being the craziest when played live. The guitars are powerful, Conor is giving everything with his angelic voice and the beat is amazing. It’s the perfect getting-hyped-up song.
  8. Particles
    • Apart from Sorry, this is basically the one song to fall in love with. When I first listened to it right after midnight – of course I waited for the album to be released to listen to it right then and there – I couldn’t believe it. I don’t know about you, but for me this song is literally perfect. And let’s not forget Conor’s vocals and falsetto parts. You can really hear his classical vocal training, his voice is so strong. And moreover, on the deluxe version of the album, there’s a piano version of this song and it’s even better than the “normal” version, at least for me. And yes, I cried. Just listen to it, you’ll see. You’ll tear up too. God, Conor’s voice, it’s giving me goosebumps. I wish I could bury myself into this song. Seriously.
  9. Get Better
    • This is the perfect bounce-your-head-to-it song. It’s kind of upbeat, but also a little bit slow and chilled back. It’s a mix of both. And for me yet another song that perfectly reflects the kind of style of music they are heading to or living for right now.
  10. Hell, Yeah
    • Hell. I think this song is literally about hell – “it’s just a little bit warmer”, “it’s just like home”. Somehow quite funny to me as a lyrical piece, but not when you listen to it. Right at the beginning, there’s just Conor’s voice and an acoustic guitar and he sounds hurt. You can hear the hurt in his voice. So I strongly believe that there’s so much more to this song than hell, literally. Nonetheless, this one is amazing, but that’s not really a surprise, is it?
  11. Afterlife
    • This one here is the last song on the “normal” version of the album and with it’s title, it’s fits, really. It has this kind of Amsterdam vibe to it and it’s also a little bit more calming. And for me the best last song they could have chosen.

.

When you get the deluxe version of the album, there are four more songs waiting for you to listen to them – Reset Me, Number 13 and the acoustic version of Sorry and the piano version of Particles, which I’ve already mentioned. Reset Me is kind of a punch in the face after Afterlife. It’s rough, fast and loud and exciting. So exciting. And Number 13 is simply cool. It’s bouncy, pure old school rock full of amazing, rough vocals and great guitars and beats. And it combines like five types of music in one. It’s hard to describe, so I guess you just need to give it a listen to hear it yourself.

So, guys, there you go. That’s the new masterpiece called “Broken Machine” by Nothing But Thieves. And it really is a masterpiece. I’m so proud of this band and of what they achieved. They really grew together with their music and especially Conor gets better and better with every single new song, every single new show. It’s actually quite sad for me that they are little bit underrated and kind of still a secret in the music universe, but I’m sure that this will change dramatically after this release. Thank god they are going on tour this winter already and I’ve got tickets to see them. I would never be able to wait much longer for the moment I get to listen to the songs live. Because if Nothing But Thieves are anything, they are the kind of band that is even better live than on the studio versions. And that’s hard to manage, trust me.

.

So, yeah, if I can give you anything, it’s the advice to give this band a listen, seriously. You won’t regret it. But I guess you’ve already noticed that I’m really hyped for this band. God, I love them. And to end this post on something exciting, I’ll leave some videos for you to watch down below. Please enjoy. And I wish you all an amazing weekend and hope that you enjoyed this post. And please don’t hesitate to leave a comment, of course. And, as always, thanks for reading. x
