It’s happening

Hola everyone.

I know, where the hell have I been? To be honest, there’s only one thing I can say – I’m sick. Since Monday. And I hate being sick, oh my god I hate it so much. I had so many things planned for this week and I literally couldn’t do ANYTHING. So I’m sorry for disappearing a lot in the past time.

.

But I don’t want to whine. Actually I want to talk about the most amazing thing that is happening this week. I am flying to Zürich. To see freaking Edward Christopher Sheeran live. I waited 3 years to be able to say this again and holy moly, it feels amaziiiiiing. I’m so happy, I can’t even tell you how much. I’ve got like the perfect seats right next to the stage and everything planned and I. CAN’T. WAIT:

.

And of course I’ll tell you everything about it when I come home again, which would be Friday for you, as I’m getting home on Monday night. So, get excited.

.

I just really hope that I’ll be well enough again on Sunday to enjoy the concert to its fullest. It really means A LOT to me.

.

And apart from that I hope you’re all doing good and feeling well. And I wish you all an amazing weekend. And as always, don’t hesitate to comment something, and thanks for reading. x

Happy Women’s Day

Hola everyone.

First of all I want to say sorry for not posting anything on Monday. Actually I had a really important exam – I think it worked out just great – and basically spent all of my free time studying for it. So yeah, sorry again. But today I want to talk to you about something very important. I know I’m usually not the type for getting political, but as there are a lot of things happening now, changing for the worse, in my opinion, and I kind of just have to get it all off my mind and get some positivity out there.

.

But before I start – happy international women’s day for all of my fellow queens out there. You are all amazing and I hope you’re all doing well and feeling happy and enjoying life to its fullest. I think, days like this give us all the perfect opportunity to reflect on all the women out there who inspire us, give us strength. And for me it’s a reason to say thank you to all of these incredible women.

.

My mum

As you can probably imagine and also share with me, my mum is literally the most important woman and also person in my life. She doesn’t only give me strength, but also shows me day by day how I can be stronger, strong enough to believe in myself, my dreams and hopes and chase them. For her, nothing is impossible. And because of her, I also believe in that. Apart from that she knows what she wants and fights for that and she always stands to her opinions and what she believes in. I always tell her that when I grow up I want to be like her, be the mum she is to me, because in my opinion, she did everything right. And by that, she became my best friend. We go to concerts and festivals together, to the cinema, fly away on a girls trip every year. She’s just my favorite person and an amazing woman.

.

My grandma

As my mum is already such an amazing woman, it’s obvious that my grandma is one too. I look up to her all the time, because she always says what she’s thinking, she’s not afraid to be honest and tell her honest opinion. And at her age she’s still working every week, although she doesn’t have to do that, but she’s so vital that she can do that. And also she just wants to do it. That’s one of the things that always impress me – she still goes to work, stays up till late at night, cares for all of us and manages to always have a smile on her face. And that’s what I love about her. Also, she’s a goddess when it comes to cooking.

.

My friends

Who and where would I be without my friends? I don’t even know to be honest. I don’t know what I’d do without them in my life. All of them are such special persons to me and bring so much happiness to my life. But most importantly they are always there for me and, as silly as it sounds, they endure me, which is at some moments really hard I’m sure. With all of their different personalities, dreams, actions and thoughts, they are all awesome women in their own special way. And that’s why I love them and could never live without them.

.

All of the women out there, all of them

Honestly, I think every woman out there depends on all of the thousands of women out there who share her opinions, keep her back in their own way, in ways most of us will never know about. We all make each other so strong, keep us afloat, happy and fight for each other. That’s why I think days like the international women’s day are so important. They remind us all that we’re not alone. Noone of us would be where she is today without all of the strong women that came before us. All of the women’s rights would never be here without them. But that doesn’t mean that we can just stop fighting on. We are all so strong and if we unite, we can do things that seemed impossible. But together, nothing is impossible. And most importantly, never let an old man tell you what to do and what you can do and can’t do. You are a queen. Live it.

So guys, as you can see I had some things to say. I hope you are all doing alright, maybe sharing my ideas and thoughts. I hope I could encourage you to reflect on all of the amazing women in your life and maybe to thank them. I want to thank them, all of them. And as always I hope you enjoyed this post and please don’t hesitate to comment something. And until then, thanks for reading. x

And the Oscar goes to…

Hola everyone.

Oh what a night it was. At least for me. Trying my best to stay awake through all of the glamour and good music and of course and most importantly good movies. And yes, I’m talking about the Oscar night of 2017.

.

For me, as the movie fanatic I am, the Oscars are an event I always look forward to every single year. And this year my heart was pounding for La La Land. And Emma Stone, of course. I mean, I guess I’m not the one to say that La La Land is the best movie, because sadly I haven’t seen any of the others – which I will – but now that they one the awards for best music and best production design for example, which the movie completely nailed, to be honest,  I think they deserve those six awards, seriously. And of course Emma Stone as best actress – she’s mind-blowing.

.

Also, Moonlight winning the Oscar for best picture didn’t really surprise me. I mean, the mistake and mishap was really awkward, even for me sitting at home in front of my TV. Especially because I was so happy for La La Land to win and all of them had their Oscars and had done their acceptance speech and suddenly everything broke down and I was actually really really sad for them. But on the other side I had thought that Moonlight would win. I mean, the topic is super important right now and it’s also some kind of indie underdog movie, so it was kind of clear to me.

.

Apart from that I think that the whole show went down pretty well. Looking back at last year, I think the show of 2016 was a little bit better, more funny and there was just more happiness in the room. But I guess it’s normal that nothing can be how it was a few months ago and we all know why.

.

But let’s focus on the positive side. There were a lot of great actors, great speeches, amazing musical acts (props to John Legend) and great movies that got the attention they deserved. And of course great outfits. Oh my god, did you see Emma? That dress and just everything, she looked so stunning. Like she just stepped out of a 20s or 30s movie and in my opinion nothing suits her better than a little bit of nostalgia. And of course Ryan complemented her perfectly in his tuxedo with the ruffled shirt – and looking at other opinions, I guess I’m one of those people who actually liked that outfit. And besides that, nearly everyone rocked the red carpet. I like how the trend definitely goes to effortless, simple dresses, with a little bit of bling or gold there and then. Perfect for the Oscars, I think.

.

So overall I’d say it was an amazing evening or night and with that little mishap at the end, definitely one that will go down in history. For me, this night means that I have a lot of hours to spend in the cinema, because I seriously need to update myself on all the movies I’ve missed out on.

.

Did any of you watch the show too? Or did you just read about it? Who was your favorite look? Please don’t hesitate to chat a little bit, I’d be really happy to hear from some of you. And what’s a better topic than the Oscars, right? And until then, I hope you enjoyed this post and, as always, thanks for reading. x

Book Club Update

Hola everyone.

Sorry for posting so late, but I think this will make all the lovely bookworms of you really happy. As you probably all know, I myself am a big bookworm. Actually I started being one just a few years ago, two or three I think. And now, those three months I got to spend in Berlin, just made me even a bigger one.

.

I think you know that I had this beautiful huge bookshop about ten minutes away from my apartment. It was always open until midnight (yes, seriously), so whenever I had a bad day or just didn’t know what to do, I went to stroll through the bookshelves, looking for the newest story for me to be obsessed with. That also meant that I needed a small suitcase just for all the books I had bought. And read, of course. And because I’ve had my nose in books for the past months and due to that read some really amazing fiction, I thought why not present them to you and update my book club. Enjoy.

.

Girl Online – Going Solo by Zoe Sugg

I guess you all know that I’m completely in love with this story about shy, but extremely talented and cute Penny and her on and off boyfriend, who’s also the biggest rockstar ever, Noah. Oh and let’s not forget her best friend Elliot, who’s literally the special sparkle of every single page.

I fell in love with the series when I read the first book three years ago and since then I’ve had my timer set for the release of the next page turner. So I can really just recommend this series to you, it’s breathtakingly amazing.

.

Super Awkward by Beth Garrod

This is the kind of book that you read and know exactly how the character feels. You just GET THEM. Actually, the story is about Bella Fisher, who herself calls her an absolute disaster when it comes to living her life. She’s awkward, a geek and somehow always does the wrong thing at the wrong time. And then she meets the hottie Zac, who isn’t just pure perfectness but also likes Bellas awkwardness. But how can she keep him while spinning a net of lies?

Honestly, this book was super amazing. I loved every single page and there wasn’t only one moment I felt so bad for Bella and just wanted to disappear with her together. It’s a must, seriously.

.

If I was Your Girl by Meredith Russo

This is a book that perfectly fits into the currently popular topics of our society. It’s about a girl called Amanda who moves into a new town and is now the girl at school. But nobody knows that Amanda was once called Andrew, something Amanda wants to leave behind. But then she meets Grant and slowly falls in love with him. Telling him her secret would ruin everything but how can she go on without being honest?

Actually, this was one of those books I had saved on my book list. And I wasn’t disappointed, not for one single moment. If any of you want to read a book about such a relevant topic, I highly recommend you reading this. It’s beautiful.

.

Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon

I guess there aren’t many teenagers or bookworms out there who haven’t heard about or read this book. I bought this one when I was in Brighton last year and read it right afterwards. I think I finished it right when I got to Berlin. The book is about a girl called Maddy, who somehow is allergic to the world. Since her birth she never had the chance to get outside of her house, feel gras underneath her feet, touch some trees or breath in the salty air at the beach. Going outside would risk her life, but then Olly comes up, the new boy next door. And as soon as they lay eyes on each other, they can’t stop their attraction. Maddy learns that she wants to live her life, with Olly, outside. But can she take the risk?

Like this short description, the whole book is awesome. It’s heartbreaking and full of love, sad and happy at the same time. if you’re a fan of such story, you should really give this one a go.

.

How To Find Love In A Bookshop by Veronica Henry

As the title says, this book is about books. And the people who read them. And about Emilia, who just returned to her small English hometown to rescue the family business – a cute little bookshop called Nightingale Books. And while trying to keep herself and the shop over water, she as well as the readers learn the stories of her customers who all have their own tales to tell.

So, this book isn’t just about one person, it features some many more stories which just give this book the special extra, the one thing that draws you to this book. Apart from it’s super cute story and the shared love for books. So, for all bookworms out there, you need to read this. Seriously.

So yeah, there you go. Some new names for the book club. Maybe some of you already know some titles, maybe you don’t. But whether you do or not, if any of you just got interested into one of the page turners, I really recommend all of them to you.

.

And actually I already have some new books waiting for me to read them:

  • The Circle by Dave Eggers
  • The Memory Book by Lara Avery
  • Unconventional by Maggie Harcourt
  • Pushing Perfect by Michelle Falkoff
  • and many more

.

So yeah, there you go. I really really hope enjoyed this post and like my idea of this book club. Oh and please feel free to talk to me or join this “club”. Everyone likes to talk about books, so go on. And until then, as always, thanks for reading. x

Two Door Cinema Club Concert

Hola everyone.

So, like I told you in my latest post – yesterday’s post to be exact – I’ve just been to another Two Door Cinema Club concert. I know, exciting stuff, right?

.

I think most of you already know how much this band means to me, because I’ve pretty much talked about it everytime I mention it. And if some of you haven’t heard, I’ll just say it again. Also because I love this story too much. So, TDCC were my first real concert ever. Seriously. It was four years ago and actually my mum had to drag me with her kind of. I didn’t like the band from the beginning, I thought their music was kind of stupid. Crazy, I know. But a few days before the concert I started listening to their music and I completely fell in love with it. And the concert was soooo fantastic. I also bought my first band merch or concert shirt there, which I now have a huge collection of. So yeah, it all started with this band. And the rest is what we call history.

.

After this concert and this tour they kind of disappeared, only to release one tiny EP in a matter of 3 years. And now that they’ve released their new album last autumn, another tour had to come. And of course I had to see them again. I mean I saw them live at Reading last year, but seeing them again, after 4 years, in the same venue, nearly on the same date, was just a must for me.

.

And to be honest, the concert was just mind-blowing (as expected). My friend and me were pretty early so when we got into the venue, there were about 50 people there. So I probably don’t have to mention that we got to be quite close to the stage, third row actually. But of course the place filled up during the first and the second support act. Oh yeah, speaking of them, the first one was called “Parcels” and it was like they had just used a time machine to get here but actually belonged to the 70s or 80s. Long hair, jeans up right to the stomach, disco music and the perfectly matching dance moves. It was so fascinating for me to watch them on stage. And the second one was called “Blaenavon”, a band from England where you could already sense their Englishness as soon as they got on stage, before even playing one note. They were more on the rocky side, so enjoyed them a little more than the first one.

.

And then we had to play the waiting game, as always. But after half an hour they finally got on stage. And the funniest thing was that before the concert I had told my friend that I thought they would be starting with their song “Cigarettes In The Theatre”, first because it’s an extremely empowering and motivating song, so the perfect one to start with, and second because they also started their set at Reading with it. And then they actually played it as their first song. So amazing.

.

Yeah and then the concert went on and on and it just got better and better (and hotter and hotter to be honest, I was a total mess at the end). The played so many old song which I had hoped for but also some new ones and for me it was the perfect mix. I loved that we were standing so close to them so I could really watch the expressions on their faces and their movements. Also the crowd was amazing, there was such an overwhelming dynamic and power in the small hall, I loved it. And you could really see how much they enjoyed playing for us which just makes a concert ten times better.

.

And after one and a half amazing hours it was over. I was hot, my voice and throat pretty damaged, as well as my ears. And I was craving for air. That’s when you know the concert was just perfect. And actually, it really was perfect. It reminded me why I love this band so much. For me they are the best indie band you could find, seriously. And I think that will never change. They really do have a special place in my heart and I can already see myself jumping around and screaming the lyrics at one of their next shows. Plainly because they and their music make me so freaking happy.

.

So yeah guys, there you go. That’s what I experienced last night. I had such an amazing time, I can’t wait for the next tour. I hope you enjoyed this post and if any of you were at the concert or know the band, don’t hesitate to say something. Oh and as always pictures of the concert are down below. Enjoy. And, as always, thanks for reading. x

Why I need to live in a city

Hola everyone.

You know, basically I’m from the smallest town you can imagine. We have like two supermarkets and a kindergarden and a primary school. After that we have to drive to the next small town to go to high school. So yeah, my hometown pretty small.

.

Actually I’ve always felt that I fitted better into a city. And while studying in Vienna and now that I’ve lived in Berlin without coming home for weeks, I just KNOW that I need to live in a city.

.

I notice it even more because I’m now at home and not staying in Vienna. And seriously, I can’t do anything here after 7pm, even less when I want to do something on my own. All of the shops close at 7pm and it’s dark and cold and usually I’d go to the cinema but the only one that is like close to me is so small that the current selection of movies is spectacularly lame. For real.

.

Do you know what I mean? When I was in Berlin I could go shopping until 9pm. And the big book and creative store, my favorite place in the city, was even open until midnight (yes, I’m serious and yes, I know, it’s freaking amazing). So whenever I was bored at night I could just take the subway and go there until it was time to go home and to bed. And of course the cinema, holy moly. So many cinemas, so many movies to watch, what a heaven.
And just overall, in such a small town life outside basically stops when it’s getting dark. And in a city that’s when it all starts. And me being someone who lives at night and sleeps over the day, that’s a perfect concept.

.

So yeah, I just know that I need to live in a big city. One as big as Berlin (sometimes Vienna is even a little bit too sleepy for me). But of course I’m happy that my home is at the countryside, because growing up there is just so much better than in a city. It’s relaxing, calm, you get to know all of the people in your town and it’s just so peaceful. So when the time for me has come to settle down and build a family, I want to live at the countryside. And also when I settle down for a little while in a city, it will always be one of the most important aspects for me to be able to see my family every once in a while, so I yeah, I will probably not chose something too far away.

.

Actually, I think London and Brighton are perfect examples for that concept. London is like the most amazing city ever. And Brighton is a charming town, a mix between city and town and when you walk away from the city center you feel like you’re in a small town again. And the sea is right next to the city, so that’s just another plus, because who doesn’t want to look out of the window and see the beach and the ocean. So yeah, London and Brighton are always floating around in my head when it comes to the future.

.

But guys, please tell me your opinion and if you share my thoughts or not. I mean, I know both types – friends who want to live in a city and friends who want to stay in their hometowns or just at the countryside overall. And I’m really interested in how the situation is all around the world, in your town, in your opinion. So please don’t hesitate to comment something, I’d be happy to read from you.

.

And yeah, that’s pretty much what’s going on in my mind right now. I hope you enjoyed this post and, as always, thanks for reading. x

Also, the two babes Tyler and Josh won a Grammy last night and I feel like a proud mum. It feels so good to see such an amazing indie band like Twenty One Pilots win over the whole world and get the well deserved credit for it.
