About Ray

Hola everyone.

I know it’s late. Very late, to be honest. But I didn’t have any time to write today, it was horrible. And after work I had to go christmas presents shopping and then I had to make myself some food and now I’m here. Anyways, I just wanna apologize for being so late.

.

I know you all probably expect a post about my weekend with my mum, but I thought I’d postpone that to Friday and tell you about a certain part of our time. To be exact, the day we went to the cinema and watched one of the most special and beautiful movies I’ve ever seen. And as you can all see at the title, I’m talking about the masterpiece “About Ray”.

.

Let me first tell you what the movie is all about. About Ray is about a girl or boy, who feels like she’s / he’s born in the wrong body. Since she was just four years old, Ramona felt like something about her just didn’t feel right. Fast forward to Ray, now 16 years old and desperate to start the gender transition. But exactly that, his age, is the problem. It means that he needs his family to be okay with loosing their daughter/granddaughter. Not to mention that his grandma still thinks that Ray should just be gay.

.

I guess you guys can already sense the drama and all the emotions. And I can tell you, there A LOT of emotions. Beginning with Ray, who just wants a normal life, a normal family. Then his mother, who never thought that she would loose Ramona so fast. And Rays grandma Dodo and her girlfriend Honey, who even live all under one roof. Oh and let’s not forget his dad, who left when he was just a little baby and now has to sign one of the most important papers of Rays life.

.

If you’re asking yourself, yes, I cried. Many times. And I had to stop myself, for real. The movie gave me such an urge to fully cry, the loud, sobbing, heartbreaking type of cry. And I think mum did too.

.

Apart from the unique and amazing story, the movie is turned into something perfect by the fascinating camera work – it’s actually more like some kind of art, so damn amazing – and of course the breathtaking actors. Elle Fanning is so real in her role as Ray and Naomi Watts as the mother is just mind-blowing. Mum said that she could really feel how hard she tried to let her daughter go and welcome her son. It was kinda heartbreaking, to be honest. Because of both sides, Rays and his mums. Oh and probably too because I watched it with my mum and this movie is all about mothers and daughters/sons.

.

I asked my mum later on if she would accept it if I told her that I felt like I lived a lie and wanted to change my gender completely. She said yes. And I am thankful for that. Because it is for sure a hard thing to say, even if it’s just hypothetically.

.

All in all, the movie About Ray was everything I expected it to be and so much more. I loved every second of it, even when it broke my heart. I think that’s the kind of story and movie everyone should get to know and see. Because it’s such an important and recent topic. So guys, I can really just recommend this movie to all of you. If you have the chance, please go and watch it. Please. And if any of you have seen it, what do you think about it? Did you like it as much as me? Tell me. And until then, sorry again for being so late, I hope you still enjoyed this post and, as always, thanks for reading. x

Alohomora

Hola everyone.

The day has finally come guys. The day we get our beloved magic world full of potions, spells, witches, wands, Hogwarts and the boy who lived.

.

And yes, I’m talking about what you’re thinking that I’m talking about. Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. And I probably have to thank J.K. Rowling for the rest of my life for introducing me to this world and letting me grow up with it.

.

To be honest, when I heard that there was going to be another Rowling movie in the theatres I completely freaked out. And I can tell you, it was sooooo worth my excitement, seriously.

.

So, I guess most of you probably know what the movie is all about, but I’m still going to give to you a short description. The movie is about a young guy called Newt Scamander, who travels to New York with a mysterious suitcase full of fascinating and fantastic creatures, which really want to get out of there. And when he gets there, suddenly introduces a Muggle to the magic world and nearly shows his world to the Muggles one, it all just gets worse. Oh and let’s not forget that Grindelwald is just waiting around the corner.

 .

Sounds amazing, doesn’t it? Actually, the movie is about a book Harry and Co. read in Hogwarts and how it was written – by Newt, of course. But as we all know now, there are already 4 more movies planned so I’m sooo damn excited for what’s to come.

.

As you can probably guess I watched the movie here in Berlin. And I think the whole experience was so much better and more awesome because I watched it in an IMAX cinema, with the biggest screen of Germany. Like, me and my friend got in there and we were shocked. I felt like a young kid at Disneyland. And oh my god, I loved it so much. I felt like I was IN the movie. It was so damn good. And worth every cent.

.

And of course the movie was just amazing. Eddie Redmanye is perfect for this role and the whole magic world thing. And he’s such a good actor. And of course the whole part of getting the Hogwarts magic world back completes the movie, which starts right at the beginning with the Harry Potter music playing. And the story itself is amazing. Gripping and soft and cute at the same time. Like in the old times with the first HP movies. The only thing I missed was that there was a little lack of information, so I would have loved to get a little bit deeper into the whole plot. But I guess that this was just the short introduction and it’s just going to get more intense with every upcoming movie.

.

So overall it was a really really really cool experience with an amazing movie and a whole lot of good old memories and magic. And I can’t even begin to explain to you how happy I am to have this whole world back in my life. It just makes me so damn happy. I missed it so much.

.

I can really just recommend you the movie and even if you haven’t seen the HP movies, you’ll love this one, I swear. And if any of you want to talk to me about Harry Potter or Hogwarts or Fantastic Beasts or anything else, I’m here. And until then I hope you enjoyed the post and, as always, thanks for reading. x

Café Society

Hola everyone.

Soooo, today I want to talk about an amazing movie I watched a few days ago. One that totally brought me back to the feeling of nostalgia. Another enormous gift brought to us by the magnificent Woody Allen. And one that feels like a dream.

.
I’m pretty sure that by reading the title you’ve already guessed which movie I’m talking about and yes, you are right, I’m talking about Café Society. I think this movie fits perfectly into Allens previous works like Magic In The Moonlight or Midnight In Paris. They all circle around the late 30s and how the people lived and especially in this one it’s all about this times society – the so-called café society.

.
Actually, the movie is a about a young guy named Bobby who travels to Los Angeles to work in the movie business for his uncle, who is in a pretty high position when it comes to making movies. And while being there he falls in love with a girl that isn’t like all the others, but somehow their love isn’t meant to be. Oh and let’s not forget his older brother who doesn’t always stay on the legal path when it comes to business. And so the adventure begins.

.
For me, the whole movie felt like a dream and actually the whole cinema experience. I watched the movie in a really old theatre, which actually only has one screen and therefore only plays one movie. And the whole room for the audience looked like a theatre and old music was playing and the audience was also so special – much older than me and still so chilled and cool. So the movie and the cinema couldn’t have fitted any more perfectly.

.
Overall, I probably couldn’t have had a better movie night. The movie itself was fantastic and so were the actors and of course the whole look of the movie and also especially the soundtrack. It featured that kind of old music that just makes you feel like you stepped onto the streets of Paris the 20s or 30s, full of romance, luxus and the happiness of life. And that’s why I love it so much.

.
So yeah, what a great movie. Thanks to Woody Allen for creating another piece of a dream. And as you can all probably guess, I can just highly recommend this one to you. And if you are in that kind of movies, you won’t regret it, I promise. And if any of you want to chat about the movie or anything else, I’m here. And until then I hope you enjoyed this post and, as always, thanks for reading. x

Growing Up

Hola everyone.

So today I want to talk about something I am now confrontef with every single day. And I will for the next two months and later on for the rest of my life. Today I want to talk about how I feel about having to grow up and being an actual grown up.

.
Now that I’m living alone in Berlin, with no actual grown up members of my family that even live in the same country, I am completely depended on myself. And holy moly, I can tell you, I never imagined that it could be this tough. As far as I remember, until now, I always had my parents around who would do all the grown up stuff for me. And of course that made life a lot easier. And now that I am in Berlin on my own, I have to do all of this stuff myself, which brings me to the point that I noticed how much the current situation taught me about life as a grown up:

.

  • Go for a walk once in a while, even if you’re alone
  • Telecom companies are straight from hell
  • Google is your best friend
  • Cooking for yourself all the time takes longer than you think
  • While being alone, you really get to know a lot about yourself
  • Doing things on your own like going to the cinema isn’t weird, but actually is normal
  • Life without your own washing machine makes everything a lot more complicated
  • The same without a dishwasher and a microwave
  • Late night shops are the best thing ever
  • YouTube, a good movie or tv show can save the day,
  • If you don’t like your current situation, change something about it
  • You’re never too old to need your parents
  • You can do whatever you want, just be happy
  • Animals and plants make everything so much better
  • WhatsApp is a gift from heaven
  • I still sometimes feel like I’m 12 and that’s okay (actually, it’s awesome)
  • Book stores are the perfect place to take a break from the world
  • Love life

.

So yeah, this is how I feel about living the life of a grown up here in Berlin. And maybe you feel the same. Anyway, I am still pretty happy that I can get back to being a child without this huge pack of responsibilities when I get back home in February. I don’t really feel ready for being and doing this here for the rest of my life, I still need some off-let’s be a child -time.

.
I am pretty sure that most of you know pretty well what I am talking about, so whenever you want to talk, I am here. And until then, I hope you enjoyed this post, and as always, thanks for reading. x

Movies of the future

Hola everyone.

As all of you know I’m a huuuuuge fan of movies. They are my hobby, to be honest. And one part of this special hobby is checking for new trailers every week. And then I make a list i my head of movies I’m excited to see in the next few month or the next year.

.

Unfortunately movies in my country come out pretty late. For example Finding Dory was in the cinemas in the USA in summer and it’s now playing in my country. So yes, pretty pretty late. So it might be that when you’re from the USA, that I’m excited to watch a movie you’ve already seen. Quite a crazy thought too, isn’t it?

.

Anyways, I was thinking it would be cool to tell you my list of movies I’m excited to watch in the future. Enjoy.

.

  • Pretty much any Marvel movie that’s coming
  • Fantastic Beats and Where To Find Them (and any other Harry Potter related movie)
  • The Edge Of Seventeen (it’s a funny and sarcastic movie about being a teenager, so perfect for me)
  • Rules Don’t Apply (I love Lily Collins so this one is a must for me)
  • The Bye Bye Man (another pretty thrilling looking horror movie. I. Can’t. Wait.)
  • Passengers (I have a special place in my heart for good Sci-Fi movies and this one is one of those)
  • Beauty and The Beast (c’mon, it’s a Disney movie, of course I have to watch it)
  • A Cure For Wellness (I watched this trailer a few days ago, I have no idea what the movie is about but it looks fascinating so I’d really to see this one; and it features Dane DeHaan so that’s a plus)
  • Transformers – The Last Knight (I’m completely in love with Transformers, so I just HAVE to see this movie)
  • Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (I seriously can’t wait to see this movie, seriously)
  • The Founder (this movie is about how McDonalds got popular and was founded, so this is reallyyyy interesting for me)
  • The Space Between Us (I know this movie since a few months and I can’t wait to watch, for real. I think the story is so fascinating and interesting and I really like the actors, so yeah, I’m excited)
  • Any upcoming horror movie
  • About Ray (this movie is really special and discusses the topic of gender variance and how it feels to live in the wrong body, I really want to watch it)

.

So, there you go. Those are the movies I’m mostly looking forward to. It could be that I forgot some, but hey, the list is already long enough, right? Oh, please feel free to chat with me, maybe some of you are looking forward to the same movies as me. And until then, I really hope you enjoyed this post and my list and, as always, thanks for reading. x

Don’t breathe – another movie review

Hola everyone.

Autumn has finally arrived. And that means cinema time. Over and over again. And I couldn’t be happier about it as the program couldn’t be any better right now. One of the recent highlights for sure has to be a movie called “Don’t Breathe” (here’s the trailer).

.

This is a movie that really keeps you at the edge of your seat. It starts at the first second and goes until the very end, the tension never stops. I was for real shaking, it was thrilling. Actually, the program said that this one is a horror movie, but I’d call it a thriller. Especially because of the story, which is more thrilling than horrifying:

The story starts with a small portrait of the main characters, three teenagers earning by an unusual way, I’d say. Okay, the steal, but hey. And suddenly they discover their next prey, a house owned by an old, also blind man. They think they just found an easy loot, but as soon as they step into the house, the nightmare begins and the world darkens around them.

.

I know I know, just this short description sounds amazing, but the actual movie is thousand, even million times bigger and better. I never knew what would come next, everything I expected turned out to be completely different and one jumpscare after another made me jump out of my seat and loose my breathe. Whenever there was a gripping scene, I completely stopped breathing and held my breath, just as the characters in the movie did. The whole audience was silent, you could have easily heard a needle drop to the ground. I loved the movie from the first second on and walked out of the cinema with wide eyes and shaking hands. I couldn’t handle what I had just experienced. It was breathtaking, for real.

.

The story is well made, the camera work is fascinating, the actors are amazing, the jumpscares are thought through and the movie itself couldn’t be any more thrilling. And it’s one of those “horror” movies that just get under your skin but won’t keep you up all night. A true must, seriously.

.

So, there you go. This is my movie recommendation. If any of you ever get the chance to watch this movie, please go and watch it. And if it’s still playing in your theatre, don’t waste your chance of experiencing that amazing and thrilling trip of a movie.

.

Oh and guys, I want to apologize for not posting anything yesterday. I completely forgot about it and then I went to the cinema – what a surprise – and as soon as I got home, I remembered and nearly freaked out. I hope you’re not too mad at me and still enjoyed this post, even with a short delay. If any of you want to talk about movies or anything else, I’m here. And until then, as always, thanks for reading. x
