Paris Haul

Hola everyone.

I know, it took quite a while to get here, but here it is, finally. My big shopping haul from Paris, as promised. Please enjoy.

You know, I love fashion. And going shopping. I know, what a typical girly thing. Blah blah blah. But seriously, it really is a lot of fun. I don’t even need to buy something to have fun. Because it’s not really about that, at least not for me. It’s more about the places I go to and the people accompanying me. And I love going shopping with my mum, we always have such a great time.

Anyways, although Paris is basically the city of fashion, I didn’t actually buy as many things as I thought I would. Probably because, and that’s no joke, I already have everything I want and could wish for. At least I do now, but we’ll get to that. As always, there was far much more on my list than just clothing. Plants, books, bags and so on. Those are usually the things I’m going for. So, let’s jump right into this haul.

Clothing and accessories

Okay, so clothing-wise, like I already mentioned, I wasn’t really feeling it. I mean, I was, but having planned to buy some Doc Martens, which aren’t really the cheapest pair of shoes, I actively stopped myself from buying a lot of other things.

Okay, that was the plan. Yey to the plan. But the theory is always easier than the practical part, right? So, exactly that happened to me. Mum and I walked into Zara, which was basically the coolest Zara I had ever stepped into, and then I saw it. This amazing, mind-glowingly dope ass jacket. Hanging there, just waiting for me to try it on. And then I looked at the price… 70 €. Great. Now what? Long story short, I just had to try it on. And the second I had it on, I didn’t want to take it off ever again. Did I ever mention that I have the best mum ever? Here’s another reason why. After I had walked around with the jacket for about 15 minutes, mum looked at me and said: “You know what, take it. I’m buying it for you.” I nearly freaked out. God, I was so happy. What an amazing mum, holy moly.

So yeah, I now have this incredible cool jacket hanging in my wardrobe. It’s made of black velvet and has this amazing, delicate embroidery all over it. I just love it so much. On the one side it’s so damn elegant, but when you wear it with black skinny jeans and a pair of Docs it suddenly turns into this rock chic and I love it so much.

And speaking of Docs. Yes, I got my second pair of Doc Martens. This time some short black ones. I actually had purposely waited for our trip to Paris to buy them there, because what’s cooler than a pair of Doc Martens? Exactly. A pair of Doc Martens from Paris. And yeah, I love them and I’m so happy that I get to wear them in the summer too as they aren’t as warming as my other pair.

And accessory-wise, I got two things. A supercute, little necklace in gold with the word Merci on it and a plain tote bag with Van Goghs painting “The Starry Night” on its front. I immediately fell in love with it the moment I saw it, seeing as I love the painting too. It’s just so beautiful. And I love the artsy aspect of it.

Of course I had to get some new books. Of course. And I think I don’t even have to mention anymore why. So let’s get right to the titles.

The Romantics by Leah Konen
Truth Or Dare by Non Pratt

The Romantics is pretty much the book I’m most excited to read. After I have finally finished the Harry Potter series, I’m getting to the end of the fifth book right now. I got both books at this historical bookshop called Shakespeare and Company which I already mentioned in my post about our trip to Paris. I really really loved this shop. It’s super old and so quirky. And they actually stamp your book when you buy it, which is so cool.

Plants

Last but not least, of course I had to get some plants, especially as I had intentionally searched for interesting, cool plant shops in the city. We got the first plant, or how I call it our own little egg, from a shop called The Green Factory. They are specialized in manufacturing these amazing little and also quite big terrariums, which is so unique to me. So I just had to get one. And the second plant, the little cacti, is from a shop called “Les Succulents Cactus”, which, as the name already hints to, solely sells cacti and succulents. You can probably guess that I felt like I just stepped into heaven when we got there. And there were so many plants to chose from, the decision was really tough for me.

So yeah, there you go. Those are pretty much all the things I took home with me from Paris – apart from my tattoo, of course. I really, really, really loved my time in Paris with my mum and I’m already looking forward to traveling to Paris again in the future.

Paris

Hola everyone.

I’m baaaack. Yeeeeeey. And oh my god guys, I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing Paris was. God, I love this city so much.

First of all, the architecture is so freaking beautiful. I mean, the whole city feels like a huge museum. There are so many sightseeing points and even when there’s no palace, historic building or gallery near you, all of the residential buildings are literally breathtaking. The whole city is so romantic, you can really feel it in the atmosphere. And we had the cutest apartment ever. Seriously. It was one of three rooms in a huge building that all belong to one big apartment complex. It felt like we were actually living in Paris, in our own little, cute flat. We had to climb the coolest and narrowest spiral staircase ever to get to our own room. And the most amazing part was the little french balcony we had. I immediately fell in love with it. And I can tell you, having breakfast in the middle of Paris on the cutest balcony ever while looking over the city and watching other people starting their day while the sun is shining in your face is literally the best way to start your own day. I miss the balcony, I really do.

Apart from that I seriously, overly fell in love with the city. It’s beautiful, cute, historic, really damn elegant and it just glows. If I had to describe it in one word, I’d probably say decadent. The whole city is pure decadence. Every day we would walk around long after midnight, strolling around the city and looking at the buildings glistening in the city lights. I can’t decide when Paris is more beautiful – at daytime or at night. It’s such a tough decision. And I think I took like about 800 pictures, most of them are photographs of buildings. Paris really drew me into the whole street photography stuff and I just let myself fall into it. So please excuse the massive amount of pictures (right down below).

But what did we do? Actually, I think we had the perfect mix of everything. We pretty much walked around the whole day, we didn’t even buy a card for the metro. I think mum is still a little bit “mad” at me for dragging her around all day and night. But hey, this way we literally saw everything. We visited museums, of course took a look at the most important sights like the eiffel tower – which I absolutely love -, we went shopping, enjoyed the amazing food, sat in bistros and watched people walk by and live their lives and just spent time in Paris, basically. Oh and we drove to Giverny for one day to visit Monet’s garden and house, you know the famous painter. He’s one of my faves and when I found out that you could actually walk through the garden where he painted his famous works, I just had to put it on our to-do-list.

What I also loved is the amount of art and culture that is packed into the city. Literature, art, music, photography, fashion – all in one single place. It’s crazy. And all the famous people who lived there, like Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald or Picasso. You can really sense the history while walking the streets of Paris and even more so when visiting the most amazing places like the historic bookshop Shakespeare & Company or the Café de Flore. That’s one of the things I enjoyed most on our trip. Every few minutes mum and I basically had to stop and google things we just came across to know more about the city and it’s fascinating history.

Oh, and another really mind-blowing thing happened. Now that I can’t decry it because it already happened, I can finally tell you that me and my mum seriously got our tattoo appointments in Paris. Yes, I know, how freaking crazy is that? I still can’t believe it, no joke. Let me tell you the little story of how we got an appointment that actually would have never been one. A few weeks before our trip I stumbled across the artist Carin Silver who works at a tattoo studio in Paris called Les Maux Bleus. You can probably guess what happened afterwards. I actually had the wish of getting a new tattoo done for quite a while now and when I saw that Carin even specialized in doing exactly what I dreamed of – flower bouquets and thin lines – I completely went crazy. Unfortunately I had to wait quite a while for a reply and after some mails the studio told me that she was completely full the week we would visit Paris. And yes, I was sad. Really sad. So, after a few days we were already in Paris, at 11 pm at night, right in front of the eiffel tower. Did you know that it sparkles at night for 5 minutes? It’s so damn beautiful. Anyways, after sharing that amazing moment, mum and me realized that my phone was blinking, meaning that I had received a text. It was a mail. From Carin. Telling us that she had found literally the perfect appointment for us both. I couldn’t believe my eyes. And I still can’t. I now have the most beautiful flower bouquet on my right arm and I couldn’t be happier with it. But I’ll tell you more about the appointment in one of my next posts.

So yeah guys, that was my trip to Paris together with my mum. Actually I took so many pictures and we had so many adventures, I think I’ll split the whole week in Paris in a few different posts. That’s why I thought I’d limit this post to a summary of the whole week and leave the rest for the pictures. I hope you enjoy them and this post. Oh and please don’t hesitate to leave a comment. Writing

Hola everybody.

You know, I love writing. I’ve always loved it. Since being a little kid, I’ve dreamed about being an author, earning money by writing stuff. And now that I have my own blog, did actually publish my own book and am now working as a journalist, I kind of thought about how it feels for me to basically write.

People have always told me that I seem to get completely lost when writing. And I think that’s true. I tend to get fully caught up in the idea I have in my head and then the words just keep streaming. It’s crazy. Especially when a topic is very important to me or when I have a lot to say. For example, let me write a text about how I think that YouTube isn’t stupid or a waste of time and you can watch me get lost and write on and on and on.

But apart from all of my blog posts and the articles I write, I think that writing an actual story is the most captivating thing ever. I’m currently working on a story and when I’m writing, every aspect, every little thing about the storyline, the people, just everything, keeps coming up. Things I’ve never thought about before starting to write, before laying my fingers on the keyboard, are suddenly there, in my head. And then on the paper. The whole story forms itself in my head. And I can clearly see it in my mind. Like, the people, the streets, everything how I imagine it to be. And I’m there, watching everything and then writing it down. This may sound crazy to you, but that’s seriously how it is. How incredible is that?

If some of you are writers like me, you’ll probably know what I’m talking about. It seems like I’m not the only one that experiences the writing process like this. Oh and please, if you do, don’t hesitate to leave a comment. And if you don’t, the same. I’m so interested in hearing your opinions and thoughts.

Last weekend we visited my grandmother and I kind of strolled around her house and then found the coolest thing ever – my mums old typewriter. Of course I had to take it with me. It’s now placed on the table in our office and it’s literally the most amazing eye-catcher. It makes me feel like I’m a real author – although I don’t even use it. It just gives me the feeling. UK haul

Hola everyone.

I love going shopping. And I love the UK. So I thought in connection to my last post (link) about my trip to the UK I’d present you guys all the things I brought home with me – books, clothes and other stuff. Please enjoy.

Books

First and most important, books. I love reading with every single fibre of my body. Funny thing that about 3 years ago I wasn’t even that interested in books. I mean, of course I was reading, but I wasn’t like obsessed with it like I am today. Since January I think I read about eight books or so, which is really quite a lot for me. And as I only read English books, going to the UK meant that I’d come back with some books from the first second on. I even always have a list of books I’d like to read saved and ready on my phone. So let’s just say that I spent quite some time in different book stores and got back with no less than five awesome books.

Some of you may already know all or some of the books, especially THUG or A Monster Calls. I think they are pretty popular right now, A Monster Calls even being an amazing movie. While being on my way to Liverpool I started reading Remix, actually having no idea what it is about. There’s literally no short description in the book. Just to give you guys a little insight, it’s about two bfs going to a festival called Remix and their ex-boyfriends, who crazily also attend the event. Chaos is predestined, of course. Honestly, I’m now over the half of this book and I freaking love it. It’s something I’ve never read before. The POVs change between the two girls, Ruby and Kaz, even in between the chapters, so you experience the whole story from both of their perspectives, which is so damn cool. I can just really recommend you guys giving this a go. And I’ll definitively go and check out the other books by Non Pratt, I really love her writing style.

Clothes

I don’t need to tell you guys how much I love clothes and dressing up and experimenting with outfits and planning them for the week. And as I waited quite a while to go shopping again, I had the plan of spending some money while being on the trip. Buying something in Manchester for example is always cooler than buying it at home or online. And you can’t deny it, that’s true. So, my mum and me went on a little shopping trip. I mean I didn’t buy that much, but I love every single item, so I’m more than happy. And I like to wear all the pieces together, I love how English it looks. So, I bought:

a supercute blouse also by Topshop
black dungarees I’ve been looking for forever from Primark

Yeah, that’s pretty much it. Like I said, it’s not much, but I love everything. Apart from the things we bought, mum and me also fell in love with another cool blouse and an amazing jumpsuit, all from Topshop. I can’t tell you why we didn’t just buy them, but anyways, we now bought them online and I can’t wait for the pieces to finally get here so I can wear my beautiful jumpsuit – the weather is perfect for that right now. I’ll just tell myself that I got it in Manchester.

Ed-related and other stuff

You know, the UK isn’t just great for buying English books, but also for getting stuff you’d never get here in Austria. Which for example is the magazine I got called Q. It’s a music magazine and features an amazing article about Ed. Altogether the article is 12 pages long and one of the truest things I’ve ever read in my life. I know that in the past weeks, there has been a lot of hate swirling around Ed and his music, which I don’t get at all, but I’m a massive fan, so yeah. No comment on that. But seriously, I love the article. Because it really just tells the truth. Ed explains why he works the way he does, how he deals with all the hate, his future plans – which are big and crazy – and his life overall. He now seems to be in a really good, happy place and I’m really glad. I know that before going on his break, Ed went through a rough time and I’m more than happy that he managed to wrote through that. I don’t think he deserves any of the hate he gets, as he’s such a genuine, honest person with such a great talent. And he works hard for what he does. He wouldn’t be where he is now without that. Personally, for me, Ed is one of the most inspiring people on this planet. In the article it says that before even being signed, before being anything near to popular, he had this huge masterplan. Five EPs, five albums with mathematical titles, another row of five albums after that. Can you believe that? He had this plan, from the first second on. At times when none but his dad truly believed in his work. And now look at him. He all made it real. And for me, that’s just so incredible and inspiring. Because I’m the same. I have this huge plan of moving to London and maybe even starting my own magazine and so on. But it’s going to be hard and it may sound impossible to other people. But like Ed I’ll work hard for that dream and then, maybe if I work hard enough, I’ll achieve all of the things I’m dreaming about. Ed showed me the way, so I’ll try my best.

And speaking of that, I also bought all of his five EPs. I just had to. They are all so amazing and from 2011, that’s crazy. I’m so happy that I chose Ed as the one guy I’ll stand with forever. You know, I know I’ll grow older and maybe forget about all my fangirl moments. But being a fangirl is different to this. I love Ed for his music. And that kind of love is something you can hardly ever leave behind. And I don’t want to, not for a slightest bit.

Oh and apart from that I also got two pins, something that’s a must for me. I’m kind of a collector of pins, I always put them on my bag. And when I saw them, I just had to get them. Especially the “I like big books and I cannot lie” one. That’s so funny.

Book Club Update

Hola everyone.

Sorry for posting so late, but I think this will make all the lovely bookworms of you really happy. As you probably all know, I myself am a big bookworm. Actually I started being one just a few years ago, two or three I think. And now, those three months I got to spend in Berlin, just made me even a bigger one.

I think you know that I had this beautiful huge bookshop about ten minutes away from my apartment. It was always open until midnight (yes, seriously), so whenever I had a bad day or just didn’t know what to do, I went to stroll through the bookshelves, looking for the newest story for me to be obsessed with. That also meant that I needed a small suitcase just for all the books I had bought. And read, of course. And because I’ve had my nose in books for the past months and due to that read some really amazing fiction, I thought why not present them to you and update my book club. Enjoy.

Girl Online – Going Solo by Zoe Sugg

I guess you all know that I’m completely in love with this story about shy, but extremely talented and cute Penny and her on and off boyfriend, who’s also the biggest rockstar ever, Noah. Oh and let’s not forget her best friend Elliot, who’s literally the special sparkle of every single page.

I fell in love with the series when I read the first book three years ago and since then I’ve had my timer set for the release of the next page turner. So I can really just recommend this series to you, it’s breathtakingly amazing.

Super Awkward by Beth Garrod

This is the kind of book that you read and know exactly how the character feels. You just GET THEM. Actually, the story is about Bella Fisher, who herself calls her an absolute disaster when it comes to living her life. She’s awkward, a geek and somehow always does the wrong thing at the wrong time. And then she meets the hottie Zac, who isn’t just pure perfectness but also likes Bellas awkwardness. But how can she keep him while spinning a net of lies?

Honestly, this book was super amazing. I loved every single page and there wasn’t only one moment I felt so bad for Bella and just wanted to disappear with her together. It’s a must, seriously.

If I was Your Girl by Meredith Russo

This is a book that perfectly fits into the currently popular topics of our society. It’s about a girl called Amanda who moves into a new town and is now the girl at school. But nobody knows that Amanda was once called Andrew, something Amanda wants to leave behind. But then she meets Grant and slowly falls in love with him. Telling him her secret would ruin everything but how can she go on without being honest?

Actually, this was one of those books I had saved on my book list. And I wasn’t disappointed, not for one single moment. If any of you want to read a book about such a relevant topic, I highly recommend you reading this. It’s beautiful.

Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon

I guess there aren’t many teenagers or bookworms out there who haven’t heard about or read this book. I bought this one when I was in Brighton last year and read it right afterwards. I think I finished it right when I got to Berlin. The book is about a girl called Maddy, who somehow is allergic to the world. Since her birth she never had the chance to get outside of her house, feel gras underneath her feet, touch some trees or breath in the salty air at the beach. Going outside would risk her life, but then Olly comes up, the new boy next door. And as soon as they lay eyes on each other, they can’t stop their attraction. Maddy learns that she wants to live her life, with Olly, outside. But can she take the risk?

Like this short description, the whole book is awesome. It’s heartbreaking and full of love, sad and happy at the same time. if you’re a fan of such story, you should really give this one a go.

How To Find Love In A Bookshop by Veronica Henry

As the title says, this book is about books. And the people who read them. And about Emilia, who just returned to her small English hometown to rescue the family business – a cute little bookshop called Nightingale Books. And while trying to keep herself and the shop over water, she as well as the readers learn the stories of her customers who all have their own tales to tell.

So, this book isn’t just about one person, it features some many more stories which just give this book the special extra, the one thing that draws you to this book. Apart from it’s super cute story and the shared love for books. So, for all bookworms out there, you need to read this. Seriously.

Bye Bye 2016

Hola everyone.

Yes, it’s really happening. 2016 is finally leaving us. And to be honest, apart from how amazing this year was for my personal life, it was horrible for the rest of the world. For our society. Our planet. Our system. And we all know why. And what brought us here.

But let’s not focus on the bad things, right? I mean, 2017 is coming. A new year. A new chance to make it better. To do good. To change the world, change our lives. And do whatever makes us happy. And the rest of the world too. Because there is nothing more important than spreading happiness and love and doing good. That’s how we can turn our beautiful mother earth into a better place for us all.

And speaking of that, I also have some new year resolutions:

meet new people and make new friends

There they are. I probably have more things I want to work on, some will probably come up through the year. And I will try my best to fulfill them all. And to make myself and everyone in my surroundings as happy as I can. Honestly, this year has been incredible for me. University worked out pretty good. I got my internship in Berlin and for real got to move there. I visited Reading festival with my mum and had the opportunity to see all of my favorite bands. Mum and me travelled to Brighton and to Copenhagen, two of the most beautiful cities ever. I read so many books which was and still is very important to me. I made a lot new friends at Uni. And I started this blog, which still makes me more and mire happy every single day. And a lot more, of course. So many things happened. And so many things will be happening. And I couldn’t be any more excited.

I can only hope that all of you also had an amazing year, apart from all the negative things that happened in this world. And that you are happy. And that you look forward to 2017.
