So it begins

Hola everyone.

Just a quick update from my side. Sooo, today was actually the first day of uni or actually, it was the day of the enrollment. That means, from now on I am officially a BIMM Student (yes, that excited shriek you just heard in the background was me).

.

No, but seriously, I am really hugely excited. I kind of felt a bit down after the enrollment as especially the timetable wasn’t as packed with classes as I thought it would be, but then I kind of realized that this course specializes in self-directed work, so more than a half of all the hours I’ll spend with uni stuff will be done outside of class, which is crazy, actually. But also a good sign.

.

Besides that today was basically used as some sort of introduction to uni and the course and everyone and everything else. And it was quite impressive, if I may say so. I mean, you all know me now – I hope so at least. Now imagine me walking into this room with a huge stage setup in the back and white walls with hundreds of different signatures from different artists and bands on it. And if that wasn’t cool enough, now imagine me looking around and the suddenly finding Conor’s signature right next to me. How unbelievably cool is that? I’m seriously attending a school that casually has Conor freaking Mason’s signature on its walls like it’s nothing. So damn cool, oh my god.

.

Oh and let’s not forget all the different work opportunities and masterclasses and talks BIMM can offer. Did I tell you that past journalism students actually got to interview Twenty One Pilots? Fantastic, isn’t it? I actually can’t believe that I’m going to spend the upcoming three years just thinking about and listening to music and then writing about it. What a dream. I kind of had a full on reality check when I got home and suddenly realized that this was all seriously happening. I am really in Brighton. I am really a student at BIMM. It’s all real. Holy moly.

.

So yeah, that’s what happened today. The enrollment and also the start of freshers week, which means that I’m gonna spend the rest of the week going to different student fairs, talks and gigs (of course). And then, next Tuesday, the true work will finally start. I can’t even begin to tell you how freaking excited I am. And how happy that I get to share it all with you. As always, please don’t hesitate to leave any comments or questions down below. If you want to know anything, just hit me. And until then I hope you enjoyed this little update. And yeah, I wish you all a great week and, as always, thanks for reading. x

New Music Friday

Hola everyone.

And welcome back to another edition of New Music Friday. A late night version this time, because, well, where I’m right now it’s pretty late already. But let’s be honest, there’s always time for some good new music, especially on a blog like this one, right? So, without further ado, let’s get right to it – here are some new songs I’ve been digging the past days or weeks or even just hours (yep, that’s how new some of them are).

.

Bambi by Hippo Campus

Some of you may already know this band from my previous posts, but if you don’t, welcome to this completely new experience, you’re going to love it, trust me. Because Hippo Campus just popped up with this new single and holy moly, what a good one that is. I fell for it the second I heard it. And then even more when I saw that they had also released their upcoming tour dates – guess who’s coming to Brighton when I’m there too… I can’t believe it, I would have never guessed that I would ever see this band live. But here I am, already counting the days to it. I seriously can’t wait to hear this song live.

.

.

To You Alone (acoustic version) by Tom Rosenthal

Well, what can I say? There’s no music list without Tom being a part of it, it’s simply impossible. And as if his music wasn’t beautiful enough already, Tom has now decided to bring out a sleepy album (I think I already mentioned it in a past posting), which means he’s producing even more relaxed and quiet versions of his songs, so that people can fall asleep while listening to them. And it works, at least it did for me, because when this song came out at midnight, I crawled into bed and listened to it in an endless loop and then, well, it knocked me out, pretty much. So yes, it’s a beautiful song and I love it. Oh, and it also perfectly fits for rainy weather. Well done Tom, as always.

.

.

My Blood by Twenty One Pilots

Attention everyone, we’ve got an extra special piece of music here. If you guys know Twenty One Pilots, you also probably know that they don’t really fit into genres. Josh and Tyler don’t just produce one certain kind of music, they basically experiment, all the time. So it was no surprise that their new song, this one right here, basically knocked me off my feet. It’s such a unique and also new sound for them and has such cool indie pop vibes to it. I love it so so so much. And I love the boys for surprising us all over and over again.

.

.

Bee-Sting by The Wombats

This song literally came out of nowhere, I swear guys. I wasn’t even ready and suddenly there it was, right in my recommendations on Spotify. And holy moly, what a great song this is. I mean, you all know how much I like The Wombats and I’d say that this little number here perfectly fits into their album, but it’s also just so good on its own. The drums and the guitars and of course the vocals – it just fits. And I’ve always loved a great indie bop, so thanks guys.

.

.

Y2k by The Montreals

To be honest, I just stumbled over this song thanks to Spotify and immediately liked it so much that I had to share it with you. I don’t know if I’ve ever told you about The Montreals, but they are one of those bands of mine that always come on when I just put my playlist on shuffle, which doesn’t make them any less amazing, of course. They produce this really cool indie pop music that is packed with happy, excited vibes and I completely dig that. But just like TOP, they wanted to surprise us all and released this fantastic song that sounds so new and modern and old and retro at the same time. It’s just so cool.

.

.

So yeah guys, I think that’s it. Those are all the new bops out there that I’ve been loving the most lately. I really do hope that you enjoy them too, so please don’t hesitate to leave your comments down below. And until then I wish you all a great night and an amazing weekend. And, as always, thanks for reading. x

High On Life

Hola everyone.

I’m so sorry for the short delay of this post. I just started my actual third job yesterday and it was pretty exciting and pretty cool and also pretty time-consuming, so unfortunately I didn’t get to write anything, but here I am again. And holy moly, I’ve got something prepared for you guys. Some of you may remember from the end of my last post that I was planning on going to another EDM festival to see Martijn again. And guess what, it was freaking amazing. I’m still on such a high, wow wow.

.

Okay, so, most of you probably know that Marty and his music and his shows mean quite a lot to me. Like, a lot. So when I came home from Amsterdam last October and saw that he was going to headline a festival right here in Vienna, I was more than thankful to hear that and of course had to grab some tickets as soon as possible. You have to know, since 2015, I’ve seen Martijn live every single year, so this has become like some sort of cute tradition. So, getting the chance to see him again this year was like a dream come true. And yes, I’m indeed already looking for ways to see him in 2019. Maybe I’ll fly to ADE again… These shows just top everything else, they’re far too special. But yeah, nothing’s fixed yet, so let’s see where the next year takes me.

.

Anyways, let’s talk about the most important thing here – the show last Saturday. And holy moly guys, what a show it was. Like I mentioned before, the show was in Vienna, in the middle of a field actually, right at the center of the city. And yes, it was huge. The festival itself is actually a newbie, so it had its premiere last week. I have to say, I really hope that it won’t end up like so many other new festivals here, so like, take place for two or three years and then just stop because there aren’t enough visitors. I mean, of course we have EDM festivals in Austria, two pretty cool ones actually, but none of them are in Vienna, so yeah, in my opinion it was well overdue to have one here. And I hope it gets even bigger than it was this year. We need more cool festivals in this country. Bring it on.

.

We arrived at the venue/the field at about 3 pm, just in time for Mike Williams, who I really wanted to see and who was pretty amazing, to be honest. As we already had front of stage tickets, I wasn’t really stressing out about getting a good spot and when we got to our dedicated area, there actually weren’t that many people and we quickly found a pretty nice spot right at the barrier. Needless to say that we stayed there the whole day. I mean, if you’re really lucky enough to get such a good spot, you don’t move and give anyone the chance to steal it from you. You stay there, no matter what. The only thing that’s allowed is to move further to the front, which we also did and then ended up in like the third row right when Marty came on stage.

.

The only thing that was a bit irritating was the weather. First it was sunny and pretty chill, then it started to rain like button-sized drops and then the clouds literally vanished and the sun got close to burning us all alive. It was so freaking hot, I thought I’d faint then and there. And looking at my friend, I wasn’t the only one. We eventually tried to hide from the heat by sitting down at the barrier and stayed there for like two hours or so. Thank god it got better as soon as the sun went down. And when Marty finally came on, the weather was perfect. I mean, it was still freaking hot, but also perfect.

.

Oh, here’s the lineup for all the curious EDM fans among you:

Martin Garrix Seperator between DJs Kshmr Seperator between DJs Robin Schulz Seperator between DJs Alan Walker Seperator between DJs Deorro Seperator between DJs Alle Farben Seperator between DJsWill Sparks Seperator between DJs Mike Williams Seperator between DJs Tony Junior Seperator between DJs Third Party Seperator between DJs Klopfgeister Seperator between DJs Möwe Seperator between DJs DJ Selecta Seperator between DJs Rudy MC Seperator between DJs Darius & Finlay

.

I would say that it was a pretty cool lineup and I am really glad that I got to experience so many different DJs and their different styles. Like I said, we got there when Mike Williams was playing and the saw Will Sparks and so on.

.

And now, let’s get to the highlight – Marty. Guys, I’m just going to say this now and I don’t care what anyone thinks about it, I just freaking love this guy so so so much. I love his music, I love his shows, I love how he makes me feel. I’ve only got love for this guy. And I’m so so thankful for everything he does and for last Saturday, because I seriously had the time of my life. As soon as he went on stage I was in trance. I screamed and jumped around and threw my arms around my friend. And then I slammed my elbow right into the metal barrier with my full body weight and I didn’t even notice it, because of all the adrenaline and the endorphins that were rushing through my body. I mean, I haven’t really been able to use my arm since the show ended, when the pain finally sat in, but it was so worth it. The things you go through for this guy, am I right?

.

Apart from that little disruption, the show was breathtaking, as always. He played so many new songs and new mixes and jumped around and smiled and just looked so happy. And I still adore him for always pointing at the fans with posters and thanking them during the shows. That’s just so damn cute. And it shows how humble he is, because although he has this huge ass crowd to entertain, he still manages to pay attention to his fans. So cute.

.

The only thing that I noticed was missing were his Area 21 tracks, which basically are the true highlight of his shows, because they’re just so different from all the others. But oh well, his show was fantastic nevertheless. I really loved it. And holy moly guys, not to be dramatic or anything, but I’ve never sweated so much in one and a half hours in my entire life. That wasn’t just an EDM show and it also wasn’t just a Martin Garrix show, no no no, that was a fully grown rave. Good thing I didn’t give a frick about what I looked like then and there, because I probably looked like a maniac, jumping around and screaming like it was the last time.

.

But besides all this, my favorite moment has to be when Bonn, a singer, joined Marty on stage and they played “High On Life”, their new single. Apart from being such a special moment due to the lyrics that really spoke to me – I would walk a million miles just to see you smile – (although I usually drive or fly those miles, but I would probably walk too),  those were also the three minutes when the stage was fully lit up. If you’ve ever been to one of Martijn’s shows you’ll probably know what I mean. Because they always tend to darken the stage to focus on the background and the lasers and fireworks and so on. But right then and there the focus was on Martijn and Bonn and for the very first time I could see him clearly and then it just hit me that I was seriously standing there, in the crowd, with Marty, the real human being, right in front of me, just a few meters away. I was starstruck. And yes, I cried a bit too. I was just so freaking happy, I couldn’t help myself.

.

And this is exactly why I love going to Martijn’s show. Because they make me feel like the luckiest and happiest person on the planet and forget everything else. Those are the moments I feel completely free. And I can’t even tell you how thankful I am for that.

.

.

So yeah guys, there you go. That’s what happened last Saturday. Like you may have noticed, I’m still overly happy and seriously can’t wait to see him again. Buuut before that, I’ve got quite some things to do, like for example, and now please buckle up, ED’S FREAKING SHOWS NEXT WEEK. EEEEEEEK. Guys, I’m so close to going insane. I can’t believe this is really happening. In just seven days and a few hours and a few minutes, I’ll be sitting in the venue, waiting for the one and only Edward Christopher Sheeran. Oh my god. I can’t believe it. And I already can’t wait to tell you guys all about the shows. And until then I hope you enjoy this little post right here. As always, please don’t hesitate to leave your thoughts and comments down below. And, of course, I wish you all an amazing week and thanks for reading. x

My Week at Nova Rock

Hola everyone.

You’re not going to believe it, but the day has come. Today I’m finally telling you all about my week at the Nova Rock festival. And I know, it literally took me ages to write this, but now it’s here and I’m more than excited for you to read this. Let’s go.

.

So, first of all, I have to say it was freaking awesome and I loved every single second of it and I want to go back. Like, right now. Please? Can we please go now? I need it in my life. It was so so so cool to work at a festival and not just attend it. Can you imagine being handed one of those “all access”-passes that casually has your name written on it. I nearly fainted. I mean, I literally took a step into the world I want to spend the rest of my life in. And even though the music wasn’t really my type all the time as it was a rock festival with quite some metal bands being part of the linup, I still had a grin on my face 24/7. I just felt so alive. Like the first time when you eat Nutella. It just changes everything. What you feel, what you think, what you want. Everything. And that’s exactly what this week did to me. I now know my path in life and I can’t wait to wander along it.

.

But let’s go a bit deeper, shall we? So, as I already mentioned, I got to work at the festival for a whole week, from Monday to the next Monday. The actual festival went from Thursday to Sunday, so needless to say that those were the most fun days. The first few days I basically just helped with the organizing and the set up, walked around the area and worked with some TV crews, by which I mean that I gave them a little tour of the whole area. And from the first day on everyone was just so freaking nice and welcoming to me. The TV crews joked around with me, the team and I always went to lunch together, we chatted and laughed and I felt so happy and comfortable and just overall like the luckiest girl ever.

.

During Wednesday night the first bands started arriving  and then on Thursday I literally had the best day ever. In the morning I again did a little tour with a TV crew and could even stay with them during their interview with a band. Guys, there was a moment when I was seriously sitting in a freaking tour bus. An official tour bus, with the band, their manager and the crew in it. And me. How crazy is that? But that’s not everything. When I got out of the bus and walked around the corner 2/5 of the band Kraftklub, one of my favorite bands, walked past me. I couldn’t believe it. I was literally starstruck and couldn’t believe my luck. But little did I know that they would walk past me again just an hour later, but this time completed with a little pause and direct eye contact with them. I must have looked like such a damn freak, with my eyes wide open and that crazy, admiring look I always have when I look at one of my faves. Oh well. I guess I need to work on my coolness when it comes to meeting bands. For future references, you know. After that moment the day was officially the best one and couldn’t be topped, because I started to grin and that smile never left my face.

.

Later that day I met up with my friend who was attending the festival too. Guys, owning that kind of pass is like the coolest thing ever. I felt so damn cool. I even got to watch a few bands from the stage. And I really mean from the stage, because I was literally standing right around the corner on the stage, with the crew and everything. So unbelievable. And then I even had the chance to attend the Kraftklub concert which was so freaking amazing. They’re such a fantastic band and seriously never fail to amaze me.

.

The remaining days I basically walked around the festival, watched some bands, met up with my friends and helped my team and the other coworkers.  I even got to take some pictures for the official Instagram page. And guys, the whole week was literally so much fun. Seriously. I felt so grateful for the chance to work there and still am flabbergasted that that seriously happened. Because for the first time I was truly a part of the community I’ve always dreamed about and want to spend the rest of my life in. And that just meant and still means so freaking much to me. It was like the last little nudge I needed to fully know that this is where I’m meant to be. This is where I belong. Surrounded by music and people who all share the same passion for it. And I couldn’t be happier about that.

.

.

So yeah guys, there you go. That’s my week at Nova and basically one of the coolest weeks ever. I hope you enjoy reading all about it. Oh and I hope you’re all doing great and that so far your weeks has been just as good. I’m actually in the best mood ever as I’m currently sat in my garden at home, with Martijn playing in the background and the fact in mind that I’m going to see this cutie again in just a few hours. I seriously can’t wait to jump around again to these songs. God, I’m so excited. I’ll of course tell you all about it. So yeah, that’s my upcoming weekend. As always I also wish you an amazing weekend. And, of course, thanks for reading. x

Hello again

Hola everybody.

And welcome back to my blog. I’m officially and finally back from my study/exam break and I seriously can’t even describe how much I’ve missed posting stuff on here and talking to you guys. I mean, I have, like, such a long list of topics for different blogposts, that I don’t even know where to start. And even just writing this right now fills me with so much joy. God, what would I do without this blog? I seriously have no idea.

.

I’m beyond sorry that it took me so long to get back again, but I just started my summer break, which basically means that I began working this Monday and I just had to get used to that – for example to having to wake up at 7 am every single freaking morning. I still haven’t fully found my perfect rhythm, but I’m hoping to accomplish that within the next few days, so I can actually start writing my bachelor thesis and my last few projects for uni.

.

But I have to say, I’m really really happy to be back home again. I’m currently sitting in bed and Peaches is lying next to me and seriously guys, whatever I’m feeling right now, I know it’s pure, unconditional love. This cat is the love of my life. No joke. And I can’t wait to spend the upcoming months with her. And the rest of my family and friends too, of course.

.

I actually just wanted to use this post as some kind of update and welcome. But I know that you’re all curious about what happened during my break, so here’s a little sneak peek. So, first of all, all my exams went down pretty good and if I’m not mistaken, I think I’ve passed every single one of them. Which means that I just have to finish my thesis now and then I’m officially graduating from uni, which is the craziest thing ever. It’s so weird to actually finish something you’ve been working your butt off for years. I mean, all I could think about in secondary school was uni. And now I’m already graduating. That’s so unbelievable. I mean, I’m not finished finished, you guys know about me moving to the UK to continue studying, but I’m leaving Vienna and basically my home country and that’s crazy enough, trust me. And if we’re already talking about moving to the UK – guys, I’ve finally found a place to live in. And holy moly, I actually can’t believe that I seriously managed to find myself such a great place and such an amazing family. I’ll be sharing the house with a couple and gosh, they are so cool. I mean, they’re basically me, just with a few more years of life experience. I couldn’t be happier, really. And the house is located just two minutes from the sea and the beach, which is like pretty much the most amazing aspect of the house. I mean, I’ll be basically spending the upcoming year at the beach, I can already tell you that. God, I’m so excited, this is going to be so so awesome.

.

And last but not least, as I already mentioned in my latest posts, I need to tell you all about my time at the festival that I got to work at. It was so freaking amazing. Oh my god. I can’t even describe it. It was one of those moments and experiences in life that basically change everything. Like when you first try Nutella. That changes you. And that’s what this week at the festival did to me. I seriously can’t wait to spend the rest of my life in that environment. I just love it so much, with all my heart. But before I’m starting to give away too much, I’ll just stop right here and keep the rest for the extra post in which I’m going to tell you all about my time there, from the beginning to the very end.

.

So yeah guys, there you go. Those are basically the most important things that happened during the time I’ve been away. Apart from that there are quite some new albums and songs waiting to be discussed about and I did a little photoshoot with what could be the dreamiest dress ever and I have so many new tv shows I want to tell you guys about, so please stay tuned for more. Like I said, I’m officially back again and yeah, I’d say let’s bring this blog back to life, shall we?

.

Anyways, I hope you guys are doing great and enjoying the summer. And, as always, I hope you enjoyed this little post and I wish you an amazing weekend. And, of course, thanks for reading. x

What’s Up

Hola everyone.

How are you guys? You know, today I was sat in front my laptop, thinking about today’s post and what I wanted to chat with you guys about. And then I remembered that actually a long time has passed since I just chatted to you and told you about everything that has been going on in my life. So, that’s exactly what I want to do today. Let’s chat.

.

Honestly, I don’t even know where to start. Recently my head has been completely full of all the things I’m doing and planning on doing right now. My last month of uni has just started and I’m already in the middle of studying for my finals and it’s kind of driving me crazy. I mean, it’s seriously already the last month of uni. And then I’m finished. Then I’m one of those people who actually have a degree, a Bachelor’s degree. How weird does that sound? I still remember the end of school like it was yesterday and now I’m already finishing uni. God, that’s crazy.

.

And then it’s just two months until I move to Brighton. Holy moly, where does all this time go? God, I’m sounding like a grandma. The funny thing is, I’m not as stressed as I thought I would be. Maybe that’s because I just have so many things to do that I don’t even have time to worry. Okay, well, that’s not hundred percent right. I mean, I’m kind of worrying if I’ll ever find a place to stay in Brighton – I still haven’t found anything, please help – and if I’ll have enough time to study for my exams. Which is pretty much nonsense, as I, like I said, have already began to study. The thing is that in two weeks, I’ll actually be working at a festival, for the whole week, so I’m kind of studying now so I can relax a bit there. And god guys, I can’t even tell you how excited I am. I mean, that’s literally everything that I want to do with my career – work at festivals, meet bands, write about that, go to concerts, listen to music all day and meet hundreds of new people. What a dream come true. I’m still pretty baffled that I seriously get the chance to work there, it’s going to be so freaking amazing. I can’t wait.

.

Besides that I’m also already so looking forward to summer. I’ll be working at home, which means I’ll get to spend as much time as possible with my family and friends, which is so important to me, seeing as I’m moving away. And I’ve got so many concerts scheduled. First I’ll get to see Martijn again at an EDM festival, which I’m so excited for. And then there are the two concerts of Ed, for which I’m already counting the days until the day has finally come, and then my mum and I are attending Sziget festival again and just four days after that we’re visiting one of Justin Timberlake’s concerts, which, being totally honest, is well overdue. I can’t even tell you how long I’ve been waiting for this moment. Far too long.

.

And of course, like I already mentioned, I’m trying to spend as much time with my family and friends as possible. But I’m honestly not as worried as I thought I would be. It’s probably because due to Berlin I already know how it feels to move to a different city and different country all on my own. And I know that I’ll be able to keep in contact with all of them, todays technologies just make it so easy. But that’s also why I’m probably most worried about my pets, because I just can’t call them or send them a message or even just explain the situation to them. I wish I could just cram our whole house into my suitcase and take them with me. I’m just happy that uni allows us so many free weeks during the holidays, so the longest I’ll be away will be four months and I actually think that’s not that bad. But honestly, I’m kind of far more excited for this new chapter in my life and this huge step than I’m scared of it. It’s going to be unbelievably fantastic, I can already tell. And until then I’ll just try to make the most of the time I get to be at home.

.

So yeah guys, that’s pretty much everything that’s currently going on in my life. What’s up with yours? I’d be really happy to hear from you, so please don’t hesitate to leave your comments down below. And until then I wish you all an amazing weekend, hope that you enjoyed this little post and, as always, thanks for reading. x
