The best job EVER

Hola everyone.

I’m a college student. That means I have to pay for books, food and the adventures students go on (coffee and cinema). Of course my parents give me money if I need it, but to be honest, it’s still a good feeling to earn at least a little bit of cash yourself. So as soon as I started uni, I looked out for a cool job. And I found it.

.

I literally found the best job ever, which is so perfect for me, that I can’t even describe it. I know I know, I should finally tell you what my job is and not just talk around it. So, I got a job at the concert venue in my university city and also the most important concert venue in the whole country. You probably know by now that I’m completely obsessed with going to concerts. And this job combines it perfectly. Live music and money AND of course a lot of fun.

.

The people I work with are all so down to earth and nice and funny and mostly as young as me, it’s basically a typical student job. But the most important part is that as soon as all the visitors are inside the concert hall, we get to attend the concert as well. Of course not the whole time and not like other attendees – we can stand at the entrance, but no screaming or singing or clapping – but we always have breaks and who would I be if I didn’t rush into the venue as soon as I can? Not myself, that’s for sure.

.

I don’t get paid a lot of money, but I can go to the cinema and have a nice evening with some chai latte and cake with it and that’s all I need. And I can see bands live and go to concerts for free if I work at them and that’s more than I ever wished for when I applied for the job. When my co-workers first told me that I literally could go inside the venue and attend the concert, I nearly fainted due to the huge amount of excitement and happiness.

.

I remember two months ago I saw Sunrise Avenue and just this week I got to see Muse (such an amazing band with the coolest show ever – there were drones, DRONES) and 5 Seconds of Summer (again). I love how happy everyone is because, like, who wouldn’t be happy when they are going to a concert?

.

So yeah, it’s literally the coolest job ever and so damn perfect for me. That’s why I never want to “loose” it, because I can go to concerts, get some money and I can work whenever I have the time, it’s so relaxing. And the bosses and co-workers are so nice and cool, I literally never want to leave. Oh and did I tell you that I get to go backstage too? Just saying.

.

If any of you have got a cool student job like me or want to talk about anything and everything, I’m here. And until then, I hope you enjoyed this post and, as always, thanks for reading. x

My favorite songs right now

Hola everyone.

As you all know, music means the world to me – I know, I repeat myself. But I could talk about music every single day, I just love it that much.

.

Anyway, due to my music obsession, the fact that Indie music is getting more and more popular (thank god, finally) and due to my mum and me flying over to England to visit this years Reading festival (hopefully), I found a lot of new bands. And new bands mean new songs and new songs mean new obsessions. So I thought, why not show you my favorite songs right now? Some are from bands I know since like 2 months, others are from bands I’ve worshipped for years already. Oh, and all the links to the songs are right in the text. Enjoy.

.

  • Panic! At The Disco – I Write Sins Not Tragedies

(always loved that song and now that I’ve just bought tickets to their concert, I love it even more – youtube.com)

  • Nothing But Thieves – Ban All The Music

(one of my new faves, the lead singer is freaking amazing; a song that really gets you hyped – youtube.com)

  • Twenty One Pilots – Holding On To You

(I always see Tyler sitting at his piano and the crowd singing the lyrics when I listen to that song, sometimes one or two tears even start building up, but just because it makes me so happy, that I saw them – youtube.com)

  • The Wombats – Techno Fan

(loved the song since I found out about them a few months ago, which I also blogged about (link); the song defines what a typical english indie song should sound like for me – youtube.com)

  • Conor Maynard – One Dance (cover)

(what should I say? It’s Conor, it just can’t be anything but perfect; the coolest aspect is that he produced it all by himself, it’s literally all him, so amazing – youtube.com)

  • DMA’s – So We Know

(I actually heard their music in my favorite café and then googled them; the funny thing is that they will also be at Reading festival, that’s what I call fate; also, their songs are amazing, they sound like an old school English band, but they’re actually from Australia – youtube.com)

  • DNCE – Cake By The Ocean

(they video is completely crazy but the song has something really special that gets me in such a good mood from the first second on – youtube.com)

  • The 1975 – Settle Down

(I’m in love with the song since I noticed that the date of their concert was getting closer and closer, but unfortunately they didn’t play it, but it doesn’t matter; the concert was breathtaking and all of their songs are too – youtube.com)

.

There you go. These are my favorite songs right now, which means that I listen to them 24/7, basically. So, yeah, I really love them. And I think it’s fascinating how favorites can change from week to week or even just day to day. It’s so cool. And I love how everyone on this planet has a different taste in music, it’s so interesting. But if any of you have the same taste in music as me or even the same favorites, I would be really happy to talk to you. And until then, I hope you enjoyed this post and as always, thanks for reading. x

#TeamIronMan

Hola everyone.

The wait is over. FINALLY. I hope some of you guys already know what I’m talking about looking at the title of this post, but I will tell you all anyway.

.

The new Captain America movie has finally been released and as the HUGE Marvel fan I am, I already went out to see it as soon as I could. And oh my god, let me tell you, that movie is literally so damn amazing, that I have no words.

.

First of all, I think I should explain my love for Marvel. It all started with Iron Man, that’s why I am and always will be Team Iron Man, forever and always. So, he is literally the reason I got into this whole Marvel Cinematic Universe thing and got pretty much obsessed with it. Completely. I have literally seen every single movie since Iron Man came out (except Ant-Man, but I will see that one in two weeks, so don’t judge). And I just fell in love with the movies more and more and more and more. I couldn’t get enough and I can’t either now. I think I never will.

.

Anyway, that’s the reason I was looking forward to seeing Captain America: Civil War since I got out of the cinema after watching The Avengers 2. And I can tell you, that’s a looooong time for a Marvel fangirl like me. So I just waited. And time passed and the release day came. And I went crazy. Completely.

.

I think I have never been THAT excited for a movie before. It was like I was waiting for a concert to start. I just wanted to get into that seat and start the movie. I think I also felt like this because of the story:

Soooo, the movie starts right after the incidents of The Avengers 2, with the whole Sokovia and Ultron thing. You can probably tell that a lot of people were killed or hurt in that battle and the government can’t let that happen another time. They want to monitor and in some way control our beloved heroes. And that’s when the team breaks apart. On the one side we have Captain America with his supporters, who state that they can’t just look away when something bad happens until the government allows them to do something about it. On the other side we have my fave Iron Man with his team, who understand what the government wants and also want to prevent any actions by the Avengers that could hurt any more people. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem like they can find a way to get together, so the epic battle begins and noone really knows who is going to win.

.

Seriously, how cool is that? When I first saw the trailer, I was speechless (oh, here’s the link if you haven’t seen it: youtube.com). Mostly because I was so scared for Tony. I don’t know what I would do if something happens to him. And of course, because of all of the new characters. Black Panther? Ant-Man? SPIDERMAN????? Epiiiiiiic (I know, I’m overly fangirling right now).

.

So, you can see why I was so excited. But let’s get to the most important part – the movie, of course. IT WAS BREATHTAKING. Like, it’s just a huge emotional rollercoaster. At one moment you seriously can’t handle all the epicness, at another one you feel tears streaming down your face, but then something funny happens and you just have to laugh and then it gets serious again and oh my god, it’s just so exciting and thrilling and amazing. Apart from all the amazing and exciting and supercool action sequences, there’s also a really emotional and totally unexpected story hidden that just makes the movie even better, but I won’t spoil anything, of course. But seriously, if any of you get the slightest chance to watch this movie, please do it, for your own sake. You won’t regret it, I swear (unless you don’t like superheroes or epic movies or haven’t seen any of the movies before, because then you will literally have no idea of what is going on).

.

I seriously can’t wait for all the other movies Marvel has planned and now that phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has started with this huge epic movie, I’m more than excited for what’s to come. If any of you are as much in love with Marvel as me, I would literally love to talk to you. And please, let me know which team you are – Team Cap or Team Iron Man? I’m really curious. And until then, I can just tell you to please go and watch that movie and hope that you enjoyed this post and getting to know my crazy nerdy fangirl side. And as always, thanks for reading. x    #TeamIronMan

.

Ps: I just bought this little Funko Pop Iron Man figure and I just can’t handle its cuteness. Look how cute. I can’t wait to receive it and put in on my desk.

Me and fashion

Hola everyone.

So, a few days ago I watched a documentary about the recent fashion industry with all the fashion blogger involved and all the changes happening, like fast fashion. And it was reallyyyyy interesting.

.

I mean, I love fashion, but to be honest, that was different when I was younger. It all started when I got in touch with the social media, especially tumblr. It changed my life and the way I looked at and thought about fashion. So yeah, this post is about the relationship I have with fashion.

.

I think the first time I thought it would be cool to work in the fashion industry and for a fashion magazine was when I got to see “The Devil Wears Prada” for the first time. I loved everything about it. The fashion, the outfits, the story, the characters and the way it gives the world an insight of this fascinating industry. I immediately sympathized with Andy and the fact that she wants to be a journalist. The only difference between us is that she didn’t have the goal to work for a fashion magazine and I do completely now.

.

For me, fashion couldn’t be more fascinating. I love the way you can show who you are or who you want to be by wearing certain clothes and putting together certain outfits. When I was younger I never cared about my looks. I mean, I looked at outfits of others and didn’t want to look like I just stepped out of bed, but I didn’t really care. But now I do. Not in the “oh my god, I need to wear 4 layers of makeup and someone tell me where the next mirror is NOW” way, but I still check if my outfit works. As I already said, I think the social media brought me and fashion together. I started looking up outfits on tumblr and twitter, checked my favourite stores and slowly built up my own personal style, which I’m really proud of now.

.

Also, you have to know, and I think I already talked about this in some other post, that I live in the middle of nowhere where nearly everyone is wearing the same styles of clothes because all the new styles get here reallyyyyy late. So we just wear the same, the clothes we see all the other people wearing and the ones we feel safe in. And that’s something that gets really boring after some time and started bothering me the more I got into this whole fashion world. I didn’t want to look like everyone else in my school, so I just stopped that and bought the clothes I dreamed about while being on holiday in fashion metropolis like New York or London. And I wore them with pride. And slowly but surely I noticed that people started looking at me.

.

True story – I was the first girl in my school to wear jeans that are ripped up at the knees. And I even ripped them up myself, because I saw people on the internet wearing jeans like that and also some guys of my favourite bands. So I just cut them up myself and went to school and you know what happened to that little trend. There were two reactions:

The first one was like “Hey ummmm, your jeans are ripped and destroyed, you may want to throw them away and buy new ones”. This one ended up with me telling them desperately that the jeans are meant to look that way.

The second one was “Hey Laura, cool jeans. Where did you get them from and did you rip them up yourself?”. This much better reaction led me to telling them that I did it all myself and grinning proudly at them and then turning around and hearing them whisper “I want jeans like her” quietly, not knowing that I could hear them.

.

It made me sooo happy to be some kind of trendsetter. And I was proud, like, seriously proud. And I liked the attention. Because I have always been the quiet girl you would never really notice in a crowd. But through my outfits and my style I can show my personality, which isn’t quiet at all, which you notice quite fast if you get to know me better.

.

Personally, I would say that I have some kind of rock-chic, band tshirt, ripped jeans, backpack and Doc Martens kind of style. At least when it’s cold outside. And when it’s warm, I turn into this festival-like butterfly wearing dresses, crop tops and skirts. And I love both phases and all the small ones inbetween.

.

Today, I love going shopping, at least in big cities and on holidays because I can be sure that I will always find something extraordinary. And to be honest, I think at the moment like 80 % of my whole wardrobe are from different countries. And the funny thing is that I always know where every single piece of clothing is from. Like for example, right now I’m wearing Converse sneakers from New York, next to me is my backpack from Madrid and so on. Everyday my outfit feels like a small trip around the world and I couldn’t be happier about it and more in love with fashion.

.

You may ask why I’m not a fashion blogger like thousand of other people out there if I’m so in love with fashion. I think it’s because I still wear cheap clothes and nothing that could be called designer ware. And most fashion bloggers show off their amazing designer pieces and I could never be able to afford that. I mean, my favourite store is Forever 21, so that should describe what I mean. But I’m more than happy with this blog and it has brought so much happiness into my life, so I’m not keen on changing anything.

.

Anyway, that’s my little story of fashion and me. I’m hoping to spend most of my years as an adult working with and for fashion, hopefully at a fashion magazine and I can tell you, I will do anything to turn this dream into reality. And until then, I’ll work on this dream and plan and enjoy the world of fashion as much as I can.

I hope you enjoyed this post and if any of you want to talk to me about fashion or anything else, I’m here. And until then, as always, thanks for reading. x

Milan haul

Hola everyone.

As you all know I’ve just been in the shopping city in Italy, in Milan. And of course I went shopping (duh). So as I was thinking about my post for today, I thought why not integrate some fashion and shopping aspects in my blog and post some pictures of all the things I bought in Milan. Here we go.

.

Clothing

I went to Milan hoping to find a new spring jacket, thinking about those new light trench coats that are trending right now. And to my luck, I found the perfect jacket. It’s a dark red-orange jacket from Bershka and I love it soon much, although it’s not a trench coat. I especially love the color, because it brings some life into my wardrobe, as I’m mostly wearing dark colors.

.

My mum and me also went to Brandy Melville, one of the coolest stores at the moment. And of course I found something. I got a grey alien t-shirt, that is, I think, almost typical for the brand, and a black light dress which is perfect for summer. I think one of the best aspect of the brand are the materials they use for their clothing. It’s so damn comfy.

.

.

Accessories

Actually, I’m not sure what my relationship to accessories is. I love them and I buy them, but I only wear like 2 or 3 and those are always the same ones. But I still love them. I love wearing necklaces, bracelets, rings and so on. And looking at them. Feeling beautiful wearing them. It brings some kind of magic touch to every outfit. And of course I looked out for some cute little things in Milan and found them at the seriously last minute. They all have some kind of hippie-boho aspect to them, so they are perfect for summer and the festival season. Oh and if you’re interested, I got them at Pull and Bear, which is another amazing store I always enjoy going shopping to.

.

.

This and that

As I knew that Milan is such an important fashion metropolis and as I felt it as soon as I stepped out of the door, I thought of buying something that screams fashion. As we walked past a bookstore, I saw a Vogue book in the window and asked my mum for a little shopping spree in the store. The staff members told me that the store had it’s own department for fashion and I was starstruck. I rushed there immediately and quickly found the place with every fashion magazine you can think of. First I thought about buying the Vogue, but then I saw a cute little grey book with pink letters on it and I knew that this one was the book I had been looking for. It’s a little fashion dictionary by Christian Dior, so it describes every characteristic of fashion. But I think even looking at it makes you happy, it’s just too cute.

.

The other thing I bought is a journal wrapped in a fabric cover with a boho pattern. I saw it at the end of a Pull and Bear store next to the checkout and fell in love with it the moment I saw it. I’ve always had a special place in my heart for cute and unique journals, although I  look at them more than I use them. But I know that they all once will be full of my writing and until then I enjoy looking at them as much as I can.

.

The last things I got – and always a must for me – are two little postcards, one from Milan, the other one from New York City. Whenever I visit a new city or country, I always buy a postcard with the name of the country on it for my wall in my room. So the wall is like a place where I pin all of my memories onto and it makes me very happy to look at it everyday and remember all the experiences I’ve made and all the places and people I’ve seen in my life.

.

.

So, there it is. My haul in Milan. And as you probably see on the pictures, my cat enjoyed taking the pictures and enjoying all of the new things too. She’s such a cutie. Oh and if any of you want to talk about shopping or anything else, I would be happy to talk to you. And until then, I hope you enjoyed this post and, as always, thanks for reading. x

My horror show

Hola everyone.

I know, I don’t need to talk about my obsession with movies anymore, but I just need to mention that there’s one special genre that I’m in love with. One which people wouldn’t probably think that I like and love when they see or get to know me. And I’m not talking about Marvel or action thriller… noooooo… I’m talking about horror. Pure, thrilling, horrifying, super scary horror. Especially the psychological, demonic ones. I’m totally obsessed with those.

.

So, in order to celebrate my love and obsession for good horror movies, whereas I try to watch every good one out there, I thought why not make a list of my favorite movies for those of you who are as much in love with horror as I am. Enjoy.

.

  • The Conjuring (my number one and scariest movie I have ever watched; seriously, I never wanted to leave the cinema that badly and I can’t wait for the second part in a few months)
  • The Woman In Black (Daniel Radcliffe is amazing and I’ve never been so horrified at the end of a movie; although it’s scary as hell it’s a total must)
  • The Strangers (I watched it at the beginning of my horror movie obsession and I was scared for my life, I couldn’t even look out of the window)
  • The Insidious series (seriously one of the best horror series out there, a total must and personally I think the first and the third part were the best ones)
  • The Sinister series (what should I even tell you? It’s scary as hell and I just wanted to hide in my sweater through the whole two movies; every horror fan should still watch it though)
  • The Cabin In The Woods (a really different horror movie and I love it; the elevator part is my favorite although I was a little bit sick afterwards; oh and not to forget it’s the only movie where just the title appearing at the beginning made me jump)
  • The Purge series (for me, one of the most creative and innovative but also slightly crazy horror concepts out there; I often think what would happen when there was for real a day where all kinds of crime would be legal… personally, I don’t even want to know; anyway, an must for horror fans and exciting for me, as there’s another part coming up)
  • Deliver Us From Devil (another exorcist movie with a thrilling story and a dark atmosphere and I really loved watching that one)
  • Crimson Peak (another pretty different horror movie with a kind of magical love story in the middle of a scary house and ghosts wandering around; another total must from my point of view)
  • Gallows (I remember sitting in the cinema with my friend completely alone and watching most if the movie through my fingers in front of my face, so yeah; still awesome though and a total adrenaline boost)
  • Nightmare On Elm Street (one of the first horror movies I watched and loved it from the first second on, especially the huge plot at the end)
  • The Ward (I totally love horror movies which have a complex story and a plot and this one is the perfect example for such movies; although it’s super scary, I can only recommend it and I just watched it again two days ago)
  • Oculus (while watching that movie, neither me or my parents exactly knew what was going on, this movie literally plays with your mind, but that’s probably what makes this movie that good)
  • The Hills Have Eyes (usually I don’t watch movies that are bloody and just plainly gross, but I remember my parents watching it and telling me to go and do something else because this wasn’t a movie for me and a few years later I watched it myself and was kind of fascinated, don’t ask why; it’s an amazing horror movie but still brutal and gross as hell)
  • From Hell (one of my all time favorites, as the story is completely thrilling and Johnny Depp is in it, so it can’t be anything other than amazing)

.

Okaaay, I think that’s it… and yeah I know, it’s long, but I think that shows how many horror movies I watch (is that even healthy anymore? no idea…). Another thing I just noticed – horror movies have the best posters ever, they all look so cool. Never realized that. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my list and if any of you are as obsessed with horror as me and want to talk, I’m here. And as always, thanks for reading. x
