Being a fangirl

Hola everyone.

Today I want to talk about a topic that really means a lot to me. And that possibly some of you can relate to. Which is being a fangirl or like I would say it, being completely obsessed with a band or a musician.

.

So, I recently talked my friend about this because I watched a three hour long live stream of Marin Garrix show at the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE). And you can probably already tell by now that I completely freaked out. It was 4 am and I was jumping around in front of my TV, smiling from one ear to the other with Peaches and Molly sleeping behind me on the couch. They probably thought I was completely crazy. And I sometimes caught myself thinking that too, but you know, who cares? I had such a blast and it was so freaking amazing.

.

And here comes the important part. Of course I had to tell my friend all about that and I sent her about 150 messages that night because I was so excited and I just had to share my excitement. We talked about it the next day and I had the feeling that I was annoying. And then she told me that she kind of stopped being a fangirl. And I was shocked. Because she was once obsessed with bands and music like me. But somehow that changed.

.

She said things like dreaming and living in a real world and so on. And then I started thinking. Because I am a huge fangirl, but I never thought that I lived in a fake, dreamy world. I mean, dreaming makes the world so much better, but that doesn’t mean that you forget about the real world.

.

Since starting to be a fangirl I’ve always been confronted with this typical idea that people had of fangirls and moreover of me because I was and am one. According to them, fangirls are young, dreamy girls that scream about everything a band or a musician does and want to marry them. They live in a fake world that they have to grow out of. Until then they are just some weird girls being obsessed over people they’ll never meet.

.

This idea might fit for 12 year old girls, maybe not even then. And I want to use this post to spread a new idea of what a fangirl truly is. Because I am a fangirl and I’m nothing of the above. I noticed that when I talked to my friend. And I wrote a list of my favorite bands and musicians:

  • Conor Maynard
  • Fall Out Boy
  • Two Door Cinema Club
  • Panic! At The Disco
  • The 1975
  • Twenty One Pilots
  • Martin Garrix
  • Ed Sheeran

.

Apart from Conor and Martijn, there are no guys out there I can fall in love with. Maybe Ed too, his voice is just too angelic. But the point I want to get to is that when I started being a fangirl I was this little crazy girl who dreamt about marrying some guy (okay, it was Justin, hey hey) but I grew up and I am still this crazy girl, but today I am crazy about the music. I still stalk the bands online. I still fly over to concerts in different countries. I still go to concerts wayyyy to early just to get a good view. I still scream when I see them. I still cry when the bands finally get on stage and I get to see them. I still have them as my lock screen on my phone, depending on which one I love most right now. I still buy the albums. And I still think about them all the time. They are my world. Always were, always will be.

.

So nothing changed. Except that I grew up. You know, whenever people notice how crazy you are about some certain bands or musicians, they look at you like you’ve just completely lost your mind. But that’s not how it is. I’m a fan. And I’m a girl. So I am a FAN-GIRL. I’m not 12, I don’t dream about stupid unreal scenarios and I’m not crazy. I just show how much I love music and the people who bring it into my life. And that’s it. That’s what being a fangirl nowadays means.

.

So, there you go. I know, this is kind of a rant about the general view of fangirls, but I just had to get it out there. Even my mum is a fangirl still and Coldplay, the band we flew over to Copenhagen just to see them, is the reason for this. And I hope I’ll once fly to concerts with my children when I’m older. And I really really really hope that my children will fall as hard in love with music as I did. Because it brought so much happiness into my life that I can’t even describe it. Seriously.

.

As this is a really important part of my life, I’d be really happy to receive some messages from you guys. So feel free to talk to me, I’m here. I really hope that you enjoyed this post, it really means a lot to me. And as always, thank you so much for reading. x

Music of the month

Hola everyone.

I know it’s early for a music of the month list, but hey, there can never be enough lists about music, right? I have to say that my current taste in music and my favorite songs are especially influenced by all the new upcoming albums of some of my favorite bands. And of course they all thought “why not release some singles first and basically bless all the ears on this planet???”. Thanks guys.

.

Anyways, all this songs are freaking amazing and I love them and some have a special meaning to me and some are just a blessing. But all of them are perfect. Enjoy.

.

  • OneRepublic – Kids (such an amazing song, perfect to sing to – link: youtube.com)

  • Basically any Fall Out Boy song, for real

I’d love to talk. And until then, I hope you enjoyed this post and list and, as always, thanks for reading. x

EDM heaven

Hola everyone.

I know, I’m late, I’m very sorry. Buuuut I have a good excuse which is also the topic of this post – I went to a festival yesterday (and yes, I got home late and felt like crap when I woke up at like 2 pm, but good and happy crap).

.

It’s called Lake Festival and is a festival for EDM music. But as you guys already know, my reason for going was one: having fun with my friend and two: seeing Martin Garrix again. Let’s be honest, Martin is literally the king of EDM, and at least for me, he’s the best and cutest DJ out there. And the aspect that he’s a superhot cutie is just another bonus. Actually I’ve known him for three years now and got the chance to see him close Sziget Festival last year. And I just fell for him completely and needed to see him again. I just had to. So this festival came just right.

.

I have to say, the festival on itself wasn’t like super duper amazing. It was pretty small, with only 3 stages. And of course I’m just comparing it to Sziget, which is like a complete other universe. But it was fun anyway, just really different. The only thing that I didn’t really like was the crowd. Especially with Martin, it didn’t really seem like they showed a lot of dedication. At least not as much as at Sziget. There wasn’t a real dynamic feeling. But let’s be honest, I didn’t care about that at all. Because I was there and Martin was there and I just had my little party with him. And he, as the cutie he is, still told us that the crowd was amazing and that he loved us (what a cutiiiiieeeee).

.

I only felt bad for my friend, because apparently, EDM isn’t the right thing for her and onto that, the people standing beside her where total douchebags and asocial pricks. I’m just glad that she just ignored them, which is always the right thing to do.

.

Anyway, Martin was amazing as always. I really liked that this set was completely different than the one at Sziget. And I mean, I wouldn’t have cared if it was the same, because I love everything he does. He just slays. And oh my god, he was so damn cute – I know, I say that a lot, but it’s just so damn true. And he played a lot of new songs, which are literally breathtaking. They’re more like rap, strong beat ones and I loooved. Actually, the last song he played is his new single which he released today and it was the highlight, seriously (it’s called “In The Name Of Love” – here’s the link: youtube.com). I mean, I started to cry. I was so overwhelmed. And he showed the heart sign and I did it too and I felt so free and alive and just appreciated the moment and lived it to it’s fullest and yeah. I’m just so happy. Really. What an amazing night.

.

Apart from Martin, the other DJ who performed were Oliver Heldens, Lost Frequencies, DVBBS (way to hard techno style for me, no thanks), Alan Walker, some guys I never heard of and didn’t really enjoy and R3hab. But to be honest, Martin just topped them altogether. As I said, he’s the king. And I’m really proud of that. Because he’s 20 and achieved all of that. He flies from city to city everyday. I mean, today he’s in Chicago, then in Las vegas and I bet that he has another show on Sunday. Someday he has three shows a day. And he still loves it so much, that he keeps a smile on his face for the whole time. And I love that. That he’s there for his fans, that he shows appreciation and that he loves what he’s doing. He really deserves all of that. And I’m happy that I can follow his path, even just as a quite observer and loving fan. I really am.

.

So yeah, that’s pretty much everything I have to say. The festival was amazing, martin was even more amazing and I can’t wait to see him again some time. Really. I hope that you enjoyed this post and if any of you want to chat about something, just hit me up, I’m here. And until then, as always, thanks for reading. x

Music of the month

Hola everyone.

I know, I don’t need to explain anything or tell you about my love for music again and again and again and again and ….

.

Buuut, I actually have some news, that pretty much create my list of my favorite songs right now. First of all it’s fixed that my mum and me are flying to London next month to attend the Reading Festival and see pretty much all of my favorite bands. And I can’t even tell you how happy I am, I could cry – okay, I actually already did really cry, but hey, this trip really means the world to me. And I can’t wait to see Brighton. All I do is watch vlogs of youtubers that live in Brighton so I can see what it looks like – it looks amazing by the way. Even the book I’m reading right now, “Beautiful Broke Things” which I bought in Copenhagen, is taking place in Brighton. It’s crazy and I’m so damn happy. Oh and the other thing is the festival I’m attending next week to see Martin Garrix, which I’m super excited for. Seriously. It’s going to be a blast.

.

So, those are the two things that make up my music list. Enjoy:

  • The Jungle Giants – You’ve got something
  • Martin Garrix – Oops
  • Nothing But Thieves – Itch
  • Two Door Cinema Club – Are We Ready? (Wreck)
  • Twenty One Pilots – Heathens
  • The Jungle Giants – She’s A Riot
  • Fall Out Boy – America’s Suitehearts
  • Oliver Heldens ft. Becky Hill – Overdrive (Gecko)
  • Leighton Meester – Heartstrings (just because she’s a total queen)
  • The Wombats – Techno Fan

If any of you like the same music as me or want to talk about anything else, I’m here. And until then, I hope you enjoyed this post and thanks for reading. x
