Once Upon A Time…

Hola everyone.

As promised in my last post (click me), I’ve got quite a pack of topics and things I want to talk to you guys about and tell you. And today I have the very special honour of presenting you the pictures of a very special photoshoot I recently did.

.

So, first of all, here’s a little background info. So a few weeks ago I was scrolling through Asos, looking for a nice dress to wear to my cousin’s weeding. Just to mention, that’s pretty much one of the biggest reasons why I love weddings so much – I get to buy and wear dresses I would never be able to otherwise. And then I found this totally dreamy, baby-blue, fairy-like dress and I just had to get it. Of course I fell completely head over heels in love with it the second I put it on. The color is so damn beautiful, just like the lace details and pretty much everything else. It’s just so so divine.

.

And here comes the super sad part of my story – cue the sad music. As perfect as this dress was and still is, the only thing that stopped me from buying it and living in it for the rest of my life was the prize. I mean, I would’ve probably spent the about 140 €, if I had the confidence that I would be able to wear it another couple of times. But spending so much money just to wear it for one night seemed a bit too much for me – even if it nearly broke my heart to send it back.

.

But if you guys know me, you know that I always try to make the best of every situation, so I decided to grab my camera and have a little photoshoot with the dress. I of course looked after and guarded it like the ball of my eye, so that someone after me would get to enjoy the dress even more. And I have to say, it was actually one of the nicest and coolest photoshoots I’ve ever done. Like I said, I did it all by myself and just used my tripod to get the right angles. And it worked out so perfectly. God, I’m so love with the pictures, no joke. I felt like a princess wearing this dress and even better when I got to see the outcome. Oh and before I present you the best pics, here’s the link to the dress if you fall in love with it, just like I did – click me.

.

And yeah, that’s the story of how I changed into a princess for a short amount of time to have this little photoshoot that I now get to show you. I hope you enjoy the pictures just as much as I do. I actually tried to change it up a bit, play with colours and concepts and so on. So, this right here works as what I would see as a mood board. Please enjoy.

.

.

As always guys, thank you so much for reading and I hope you’re all doing good and I wish you an amazing start of this new week. x

A Wallow in Music

Hola everyone.

It’s Friday. Yeeeeey. I hope you’ve all had an amazing week and are now looking forward to the weekend. My week was pretty good, if I may say so. And something really cool happened – I “found” a new awesome band. I mean, I didn’t just discover it like a few days ago, but let me get back to the start and tell you the whole story.

.

So, if any of you guys have been on any social network the past few days, you may have noticed that there’s now a second season of 13 Reasons Why. It’s that Netflix series, that basically everyone seems to be completely obsessed with, although the reviews of the new season aren’t that good. Personally, I can’t critique it, as I haven’t seen it. And I know I’ve been obsessed with the first season just like everyone else, but in hindsight I kind of regret that and I have no desire or so to watch the next season. My friend Leni told me enough about it already that I know that I’m not going to be a social outcast if I haven’t fully watched it. Oh and if you’re asking yourself now who Leni is, she’s actually that friend I’m always talking about in my postings. She always texts me funny messages whenever she recognizes herself as that friend in my posts, so I guess the cat is out of the bag now. Leni, this is the internet. Internet, this is Leni.

.

So, now that we’ve dealt with that, let’s get back to the story I actually wanted to tell you. You’re probably thinking what the hell has that show got to do with the new band I’m falling in love with right now? Well, a lot. Seriously. If you’ve seen the show, you’ll probably know the actor Dylan Minnette, who plays Clay, the main character. At least that’s how I got to know this actor. And now imagine logging onto YouTube and having this guy’s face pop up on your feed. Of course you think it has to be related to the tv series, but no no no. It’s actually a video of a live performance by a band called Wallows, with Dylan as the lead singer. And of course you have to check it out, because who wouldn’t? And then you notice that this band is straight up amazing and the surprise is complete.

.

I mean, did you know that? Because I honestly had no idea that this guy was hiding such a massive musical talent. I’m actually shocked. But in a positive way, of course. So yeah guys, let me introduce you to this amazing Indie band, that I’ve been listening to nonstop the past few days – Wallows. And you know what’s the funniest part of this story? I already knew this band. That’s why I put the “found” at the beginning in quotation marks. But I had never really given them enough attention to fully acknowledge the awesomeness of their music, which I’m thankfully doing now. And thus, without further ado, here are my favorite tracks by this fantastic band. Please enjoy.

.

.

.

.

So yeah, here’s my special music treat of the week for you guys. I really hope that you do enjoy the songs by this supercool band. Also, it seems like they are still pretty much at the beginning of their career, just having released their debut EP, and I would be so happy to see them get more attention, as they truly deserve it. As always, please don’t hesitate to leave your comments and thoughts down below. Oh and I wish you all a great weekend and thanks for reading. x

Let’s talk about Tom

Hola everyone.

As most of you probably know, when it comes to music, I’m head over heels in love with Indie music. Two Door Cinema Club, Nothing But Thieves, The Wombats and Twenty One Pilots are just a few of the bands that make my heart leap a little bit while listing to their music. This kind of music has been dominating my taste in music the past years, since 2013, when I finally started developing a good taste (thank god). But as pretty much everyone on this planet, I don’t always stick to my own rules, which is why I’d always fly to Amsterdam again to see Martijn or to Zürich to see Ed live. They both couldn’t be any more different to Indie music, but nonetheless they are two of my favorite musicians and biggest loves. And today I’d like to talk about another one of those special voices and musicians, that I couldn’t live without anymore. Today I’d like to talk about the one and only Tom Rosenthal.

.

First of all, let me introduce you to Tom. Tom is an English singer-songwriter (of course), who lives in London together with his family – he has two young daughters, so cute – and has been making music since, like, forever, pretty much, by which I mean that he released his very first singles and album in 2011. Since then he has been making and putting music out there about every year or month or so. And right now he’s working on a sleepy album (many people go to sleep while listening to his music, which totally makes sense, trust me) and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m already so deeply in love with it, although I haven’t heard anything from it. I just know it’s going to be breathtakingly good.

.

But what about his music? Well, if I had to describe it, I would say that it’s the kind of music you want to listen to while you sit outside, on a warm summer night, maybe with some friends, looking at the stars. It’s what you want to listen to when you feel at ease, in total peace with the world. But above that all, it’s the kind of music that is literally meant to be listened to on a drive home at midnight while you stare out of the window at the night sky. That’s the kind of music Tom makes. And let me tell you something, it’s literally pure heaven, and I’m not even exaggerating there, it truly is. It’s sad and happy at the same time, so peaceful and emotional, both fast and slow and it breaks your heart and mends it right after that. Actually, it’s pretty much impossible to describe his music and to put into words how much I love it. Especially the past months I’ve been listening to his songs 24/7. For me it’s the perfect soundtrack to work to, write texts and so on. Oh and of course it’s amazing for a peaceful, chill cooking session. God, I just love it so much. It makes me want to feel alive, to enjoy my life and experience literally everything. It’s really a pure gift, honestly.

.

I actually came across Tom’s music while watching one of Will’s videos (Will Darbyshire – my photography idol). And I immediately fell for it. Unfortunately it took me quite a while to finally look him up and start listening to his songs, but since then he’s been a stable, seriously. He even was my most listened artist in 2017 – thanks to Spotify for all the analytical stuff – and that’s really saying something. And as I always dedicate posts to my favorite artists, I thought that a post about Tom and his music was well overdue, so here it is.

.

But that’s actually all I’m able to tell you about Tom’s music, as telling you more would just spoil it or wouldn’t do it enough justice. His music speaks enough for itself. You don’t even need my talk, it’s all about his songs. So please, guys, enjoy the following list of my favorite songs by Tom – and yes, it was indeed far too hard to choose, but I did it. And apart from listening to his bloody amazing songs you also get to experience his awesome videos, which are a form of art on themselves, let’s be honest.

So yeah guys, there you go. That’s Tom Rosenthal, one of the biggest musical geniuses out there. I thoroughly hope you enjoy his music as much as I do and that it inspires you. As always, please don’t hesitate to leave your thoughts and comments down below. And yeah, I hope you’re all doing good and wish you an amazing weekend. And, of course, thanks for reading. x

Ps: Here’s a little sneak peek of Tom’s upcoming sleepy album… and yes, it is indeed one of the best one minute music clips ever made.

Taking pictures with my camera

Hola everyone.

So, as some of you may have noticed, on my last post I focused on the photographic ability of my iPhone. I went out and about and took pictures with my phone and as I already mentioned in that post, I was seriously pleasantly surprised. They turned out far better than I had imagined. Actually, the looked pretty amazing. Here’s the post if you want to check it out – click me.

.

And in addition to that post, I thought I’d now make a post to directly compare those pictures with ones I’ve taken with my professional camera. I again went out into my garden and took some shots of the nature around me. As you can see down below, unfortunately I couldn’t always take the same pictures as the ones I took with my phone, mostly because everything had already changed so much and other plants and flowers had started to bloom. And as you can probably guess, it would have also been pretty boring to just take the same pictures over and over again. Bye bye artistic creativity, am I right? But I of course also tried to take some similar shots of the same flowers, so we can directly compare them.

.

As you can see at the pictures, the main difference between the pictures I took with my iPhone and the one I took with my Sony Alpha 6000 camera is the sharpness of the pics. You can clearly see everything in the pics, even the smallest petals and their structures. But personally, I don’t even mind that my phone isn’t able to take pictures with such a high definition, because then I wouldn’t need my camera, which I would never give away. I love it too much and I want a reason to use it. Apart from that I think that all over, the vibes of the photo series are completely different. The iPhone ones look chilled, they’re more blurry. They’re basically pics you see on Instagram. And with my camera they just look professional, which they also are, of course. They just seem like someone put more effort into making them. I don’t know, that’s just my perception.

.

But what do you think? Which pictures do you enjoy more? I’m really curious to hear your thoughts and opinions, so please don’t hesitate to leave them down below. And until then I hope you enjoy these pictures and that you’re doing good. And, as always, I wish you a nice weekend and thanks for reading. x

News News News

Hola everyone.

I hope you’re all doing good. Holy moly, I have so much to tell you, I don’t even know where to start. So, I think I’ll just start with the most exciting part – the fact that Avengers Infinity War is finally out and that I already saw it the day it came out and that it freaking blew me away.

.

So yeah, as you can see, it indeed was an experience. I just don’t know whether I enjoyed or just endured it. First of all I have to say that I waited for this movie to come out for months, seriously. Me and my friend hyped each other up every single day just to make the wait a little less painful. And then the day finally came. We had already bought the tickets one month prior to the screening and of course, it was completely sold out. We chose to watch it in IMAX as this is literally the format the movie was made for. And that’s true guys. I’ve never seen such a phenomenal quality. I mean, the movie mostly plays in space, somewhere on crazy, fascinating planets and there’s literally a racoon, Rocket, and everything still looks so real. This movie really is the peak of the Marvel movies, no joke. It doesn’t get more epic than that. At least when it comes to the movie itself.

.

Looking at the story and what happens throughout the movie, I’m not quite sure if I enjoyed those two and a half hours. It was more like watching your fan world fall apart. But I’ll of course keep all the information for me, Thanos demands my silence. But I can just tell you, that the movie seriously is something else. And, another unpopular opinion, I think that Thanos is a good villain. The best, to be honest. Because he doesn’t act out of pure joy or fun. He really thinks that what he’s doing is for a greater good and he truly believes in it. And I mean, he’s pretty much a total idiot, but at some point during the movie I really understood him. I understood the meaning of his doing. I mean, I don’t like what he’s doing or has done, but I get it. And that’s all I’m going to say for now. But please guys, go and watch this movie. It’s freaking fantastic and I love this whole universe with all of my heart.

.

Okay, so, that was that part. It probably won’t surprise you that I watched another movie in the last week, besides Infinity War. Another amazing movie called Stronger. Here’s a little description I found on Rotten Tomatoes:

STRONGER is the inspirational and heroic true-life story of Jeff Bauman (Jake Gyllenhaal), the man whose iconic photo from the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing captured the hearts of the world.

.

So yeah, that pretty much says it all. For me, the movie was a whole different experience. It made me sad and happy and angry all at once. And I’m not sure whether that was intended or not, but the movie really made me think. About society and the USA. I mean, this guy lost both of his legs and the world around him acts like he’s a hero and nobody sees behind that and notices that Jeff is falling into a dark hole, right into depression. At some point he doesn’t even care if he dies and all his mum and the rest of his family is interested in is when he’s finally going to do that interview with Oprah. I mean, how superficial and stupid is that? But that’s society and it’s so so sad. I can really just recommend this one to any of you who are interested in movies like this one. It’s really really good. And Jake Gyllenhaal is freaking fantastic, please finally give this guy his Oscar.

.

And last but not least, here are the most important music news of the past week. Nothing But Thieves have released two new cover songs to celebrate record store day. And holy moly guys, I was literally speechless when I listened to them, especially their cover of Crazy be Cee Lo Green. You all probably know the original version, it’s a classic, but I have to say, I honestly can’t stand it. I really can’t. But it seems like NBT made it their mission to change that. And god, I would’ve never thought that it was possible, but they seriously made it possible. I couldn’t believe my ears when I first listened to it. It’s basically one of the most epic songs I’ve ever heard and I want it to be the end credits song for Infinity War. God, that would be so amazing. And their other cover is freaking awesome too. I just love Conor’s voice so much. What an amazing band, wow. But hey, hear for yourself.

.

.

So yeah guys, there you are. Those are all the news I have for you, at least the most important ones. I hope you enjoy them. Oh, and please don’t hesitate to leave your thoughts and comments down below. And yeah, again, I hope you’re all doing good and wish you an amazing week. And, as always, thanks for reading. x

It’s never enough

Hola everyone.

Okay, let me just tell you about my current situation: right now I’m sat in my bed, it’s eleven minutes past 3 am. Yes, I should be asleep. But am I tired? No, of course not. Why am I not tired? Because I just got home from an amazing concert and I need to share it with you guys.

.

Right now I’m close to being deaf, my legs are killing me, I surely sound like the most extreme chainsmoker ever, so my voice is nearly gone, and I’m just overall so exhausted that I can already tell that it was an amazing night. I’m literally drunk on happiness and excitement. This was my second concert in a matter of the four past days and I couldn’t be happier, no joke. It may sound like I’m completely done, but trust me, this is like the peak of feeling perfect for me. There’s nothing better than concert exhaustion, I love it. And speaking of concerts, I’m of course here to tell you everything about those two past nights, that again showed me how deeply in love I am with live music and that there literally isn’t anything better than that. Okay, let’s get right to it.

.

Monday night – The Academic

Some of you may know these Irish boys, most of you probably don’t. And that’s a problem, a really really big problem, because these guys deserve far more attention than they are getting right now. I’m serious. I personally have to thank my go-to concert ticket platform for recommending this band to me, I would have never known that they were having a concert here without seeing it on my page. The funny thing was, I just saw their name and picture and immediately knew that they had to be an indie band – and of course they are. I even recognized them, so they are one of those bands, where I’m in love with one or two songs, but never really take notice of their names and so on. But oh god, that was a mistake. Because these guys are literally amazing and I’m so so lucky that I got to see them live, especially at such a small venue. I mean, I was literally about two meters away from the stage or even less, it was so cool.

.

Apart from that, the concert was really fantastic. You could really see that they enjoyed being there and that they were thankful for the sold out show and that so many fans and other people came to check them out. I mean, they are all pretty much at my age and right at the start of their career and you could see that. I seriously can’t wait to see them get more and more attention and become one of those big indie bands that sell out huge venues and headline festivals. I know that these boys got it in them, there’s no doubt. Especially after experiencing them live. Craig, their lead singer, really has an amazing voice and overall they were just so great.

.

Oh and speaking of the lead singer, here comes the crazy part of this night. So, I stood there in the crowd with my friend and the show had just begun. And suddenly she tapped me on the shoulder and was like “hey, doesn’t the singer look a little bit like Martijn?”. And I starred at her and was like “whaaat? No, of course not. No.”. And then I turned around and looked at him and then it hit me. This guy seriously – and I’m not joking – could have been Martijn, if his face was just a bit slimmer. Guys, I nearly went crazy. I mean, my brain didn’t know what to do. What do you do when there’s a guy in front of you who looks exactly like someone else, but you know it’s not him and still can’t handle it properly? I just starred at him, to be honest. My friend said that she actually watched the shock spread across my face. I’m sure it was a weird and funny sight. But hey, it was actually the biggest bonus ever, because now I know what Martijn would look like if he was the singer in a band – and holy moly, he would look good. I’m just curious whether anyone has ever told Craig that… Oh well.

.

.

Thursday night – The Wombats and Co.

And here we are again. A show that just ended four and a half hours ago and a show I still have to process. God, it was so so amazing. I don’t even know where to begin. Okay, I’ll just start at the Co.-part, their two support acts. Number one: The Night Café. And number two: The Magic Gang. Both were more than fantastic and I’m so happy that I got to see them both, as I adore their music. I gladly got to the venue pretty early and ended up in the fourth row, where I stayed throughout the whole show. It’s so cool, when you get a perfect spot at a concert without having to push past people and fighting for it. But I have to say, those two support acts couldn’t have been any more different. I mean, yes, they both played indie pop/rock music and they both were incredible, but besides that they were so different. The Night Café literally consists of four young guys, probably all younger than me, that looked so chilled up on that stage, that if I hadn’t known we were standing in a concert venue, I would have thought that they were playing at home in their garage. It was seriously that chilled. And they were all wearing lounge/sportswear, which just added up to that. But I absolutely love their music and their set was pretty cool too, so it was all good.

.

The Magic Gang were just as fantastic, but like I said, also different. Older, wiser, more put together and maybe a little more awake, I would say. Oh, and they are from Brighton, which just made it even better. Once again you could really see that they had fun playing on that stage for us and that made me happy too. I also have to mention that their music is even better live, it gives it another touch of coolness. And that pretty much sums up their whole set – it was just so cool. Really really awesome.

.

And now we’ve reached the main act – The Wombats. I actually have a little story with these guys, as it was my second time seeing them live, if the first time actually counts, which I’m not so sure of. It was at Reading festival in 2016, but my mum and I were far too late for their set, so we only got to hear like three songs or something like that. Does that count? I hope it does, but of course I had to see them live again, to experience the whole thing. And god, was it worth the wait. They were so so so damn good. It was like a huge party, one that I never wanted to end. I absolutely love that they had a great mix of old and new songs and that they could really show how talented they are. They truly deserved the show to be sold out.

.

There were also some funny parts during the show. The first when Murph’s, the lead singer’s guitar suddenly died and they had to stop in the middle of their song “Emoticons”. But instead of just standing there, we decided to finish the song ourselves and just sang the chorus for about two minutes until the problem was solved. What a great crowd, am I right? Oh, and the second funny incident happened closer to the end of the show during “Let’s Dance to Joy Division”, when suddenly two guys came up on stage, dressed in these huge wombat costumes, and started to dance and jump around. I’m still not quite sure whether it was a prank by their team or if it’s a usual part of the show. I hope it was a prank, that would make it even better.

.

But besides that, the whole show was truly incredible. Like I already mentioned, it was a huge party and just happy vibes all around. I loved the dynamic of the crowd and the overall atmosphere. And I’m so so happy that I got to see these English guys again, the full set this time. Oh and I also have to mention that their bassist Tord was literally the cutest ever. He was jumping around the stage the whole time with the biggest grin ever on his face. His happiness was so contagious, so thanks for that.

.

.

So yeah guys, there you go. Another two nights, another two mind-blowing concerts. I’m so so thankful that I got to experience these and that I’m able to see so many bands live. It’s literally my kryptonite. I also have to thank tonight for reminding me of why I am here and doing all this. Live music is literally the best thing ever and I know that I’m doing the right thing by moving to Brighton to lay the foundation for a career in that sector. As always, I hope you enjoyed this post and please don’t hesitate to leave your comments down below. Oh and I hope you’re all doing good and wish you an awesome weekend. And, of course, thanks for reading. x
