New Music Friday

Hola everyone.

How are we doing? Doing good, I hope. Personally, in the past few days, I’ve been in an incredible mood. Because, you guessed it, concert season is coming up and starting next Sunday with the one and only band Hippo Campus. And then the week after that we have Saint Raymond and just a few days after that I’ll finally be seeing my beans Tyler and Josh and last but not least the week after my love Tom. And just two days after that unbelievable experience I’ll be flying back home for spring break (is it even spring break though? I honestly have no idea). So yeah, you could say I’ve got some exciting days coming up. I can’t wait.

.

And as my next few weeks will basically consist of thinking about, listening to and plainly experiencing music, I thought we’d all get in the groove now together with another lovely New Music Friday. I know I didn’t even post the last one that long ago, but the music industry works at a different pace, so while we’ve been living our lives at usual, normal, chilled pace, quite a few artists and bands decided to release amazing new music. And besides that, as usual, I also got to know some other new incredible tracks, which I’m dying to share with you today. Some were recommended to me, some I found by myself and some got to me because of the updated Sziget lineup. And one has to know all the bands that will be at their favourite festival, obviously.

.

Most of the tracks, I noticed, are quite heavy on the bass and a bit more electronic than usual, but I’m sure you’ll love them nonetheless. Of course, the usual indie-ness still plays a big part. So, get ready, put some good headphones on, turn up the volume and enjoy.

.

Beirut – Family Curse / Varieties of Exile

I can’t really remember when I found this band, I just know that it was last year and that I was shocked that I had found it this late. Obviously, better late than never, but come on. This band is amazing. And when I saw that they had released a new album called Gallipoli, I instantly had to listen to it (the two songs here are my favourite ones of the album). And no joke, it’s such a fantastic collection of even more fantastic songs. I can’t really put it into words, but their music is just so special. It’s really different and deserves and needs to be heard.

.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wRRrQzu1r8

..

.

Hucci & Jaya – Fountain

Here comes the electronic vibe. I told you it would. This one right here is one of the bands that will be playing at Sziget this year. And despite some other tracks not being my cup of tea, this one is just too cool to not like it. I really enjoy the vibe of it and I can already see my mum and me attending their show at like 2am and totally enjoying it.

.

.

New Atlas – Morphine / Lay Low

To be honest, both of these songs couldn’t be any more different from each other. While Morphine is a fun indie-rock track, Lay Low is a weird, bassy electronic song that I can already see being played in clubs over and over again. And funnily enough, I really really like both of the tracks. Also, Lay Low is a strict case of the headphone rule. Those are essentially what make the song so fun to listen to.

.

.

.

Wallows ft. Clairo – Are You Bored Yet?

My boys are back with another new amazing track and oh my god, I’m so happy. Did I tell you that I recently bought tickets to see them in London this June? I honestly can’t believe I’m really seeing them live. It’s as if 2019 decided to be the year of the impossible concerts that suddenly became possible. Hippo Campus, Tom, The Jungle Giants (they’re coming to the Great Escape here in Brighton for their UK debut) and now Wallows. Literally crazy. And such good music, holy moly.

.

.

Son Lux – Lost It To Trying

Another Sziget contestant and another amazing song, obviously. And there’s also quite a funny story to this, because when I first listened to this song I thought I was being fooled at or something and the Fall Out Boy fans among you will probably get what I mean within the first few seconds of listening to this song. Because this right here is the reason why the song ‘4th of July’ by FOB is such a bop. Because they sampled it. I coincidentally found the ‘original’ track. How funny is that? And, obviously, it’s a fantastic song.

.

.

.

Jónsi – Who Are You Thinking Of?

I recently got to watch the movie ‘Boy Erased’ – and, oh boy, was that an incredible and also super sad movie, wow – and this song right here was featured in it and immediately caught my attention. You can literally hear the sadness in the song, which I adore. Sometimes I’m such a sucker for sad tracks, I can’t tell why. I can just say that I love this one right here. And I also love the movie, which is why I now have to urge you to both listen to this song and watch the movie. Please.

.

.

Hippo Campus – Violet

And last but not least we have this gem right here. You guys know that I’m head over heels in love with this band and now that I’ll finally be seeing them live next week, I’ve been listening to their music non-stop. So much, that Violet has now become my favourite track of theirs (although that usually changes on a weekly basis, but oh well). It’s just such an incredibly fun song, I don’t even know what to tell you. But what I do know is that it’s part of their set-list, which means that I’ll get the chance to completely freak out when they play it. Which I can’t wait for.

.

.

So yeah, guys, there you go. That’s about all the new music that I’ve got to share with you for now. I dearly hope that you enjoy these tracks as much as I do. As always, please don’t hesitate to share your opinions and thoughts down below. I’d love to hear them. And until then I wish you all a lovely weekend and hope you’re doing good. And, as always, thanks for reading. x

New Music Friday

Hola everyone.

And welcome back to another edition of “New Music Friday”. The first of 2019 actually, so let’s make it special, shall we? So, buckle up and get ready, because this is gonna be a hell of a ride.

.

As you can imagine, there’s a ton of new music that I’ve been saving up for this very special day. Some of it might not be that new to you, some songs may be very old and some might be fresh out of a recording studio. Nevertheless, all of them are amazing and I feel proud and honored that I get to share them all with you. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. So, without further ado, let’s jump right into it.

.

Twenty One Pilots – Chlorine

Yes, yes, I know. There they are again. What a surprise. And I know, since it’s been released, I haven’t shut up about Trench, but it’s just so damn good. And now that the boys released their music video for Chlorine, I just had to include it in the list. Now it’s not only a damn fantastic song, but also a super cool video. And I love them both with all of my heart. And Ned too.

.

Ferris & Sylvester – Sickness

These guys are my newest find when it comes to music, actually. And I know, they might not seem like my typical cup of tea, but I just love how the song builds itself up more and more until it peaks in that amazing chorus. Also, am I the only one who thinks that that song would perfectly fit for some kind of drama movie?

.

The Montreals – Rude

Again, another breathtakingly amazing track by my favorite Australians. God, how I wish they would come over to the UK and go on tour here. Like, just listen to their songs. It’s no wonder I’m so deeply into their stuff. Such an awesome band, wow.

.

Ditch Days ft. Calcutá – Downtown

What should I tell you, guys? Just listen to the song and you’ll immediately know why it’s part of this list here. It’s just too good to not be included, honestly.

.

Alinea – She Doesn’t Get It

I found this song while I was listening to another mix of the week, provided by my beloved Spotify (thanks Spotify), while writing a letter to my mum, and it has been stuck with me ever since. It’s just such a fun song, like it has some kind of magical power that always gets me in a good mood.

.

Dayglow – Hot Rod

If I’m not mistaken, I again have to thank Spotify for recommending this one to me. God, looks like I really owe that company, hm? Anyway, about the song – it’s amazing, it’s fun and I love it. And I hope you do too.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuwmWnN2Q90

.

The Night Café – Endless Lovers

Guys, it honestly doesn’t get any newer than this. This little gem right here just came out yesterday and I’m so happy that I get to share it with you. You guys probably know that I’m a huge fan of these amazingly talented guys here, especially after seeing them live last year, so their new music makes me incredibly happy.

.

EAUXMAR ft. Caius – Hurt U

You guys know that I have a weak spot for good electronic music – hence my endless love for Marty and STMPD, the best label ever – and now that I’ve just found this, I know exactly why. It has such a cool and groovy vibe to it, such a banger. I honestly don’t understand why EDM is still so underrated, such a crime.

And, as always, thanks for reading. x

2018: Wrapped

Hola everyone.

And welcome back to another Music Saturday (yeah, it’s Saturday today, just go with it). And yes, I know, shouldn’t there be a ‘New’ in there? And yes, you’re right, there usually should, but this time I left it out on purpose, because today is a very special Music Day. Because, just as the year is coming to an end, it’s also time to wrap up the year music-wise. And what a year 2018 was. A year full of amazing music. Special music. Exciting music. It’s all in there, in the folder of 2018, waiting to be discovered by you.

And just as every year, the lovely people of Spotify made it a lot easier for us all to wrap this year up. Since getting myself a premium account, the yearly statistics of my own musical behavior have been a highlight for me and something I’ve been looking forward to for weeks. And just like the two years before, they are more than accurate. But have a look for yourself.

I might just have to add that Tom has now been my favorite artist for two years straight and, honestly, I’m not surprised, not even a bit. Tom is simply an incredible artist and I absolutely adore his music. It’s that type of music that just fits every occasion. Whether it’s when I’m cooking, writing, going for a walk, shopping in the mall or just chilling, I can always have it on and it will always fit perfectly. That’s just what Tom does. He makes perfect music. And I feel more than honored and grateful that I’ll finally get to see him live next year in London. I can’t wait, honestly.

And besides that, the whole statistics are pretty much spot on. We all know why Ed is on there (obviously), The Academic were a huge phase for me at the beginning of this year due to their amazing show in Vienna (I still am deeply in love with their music, of course) and both Hippo Campus and TØP released two breathtaking albums, which, by the way, are the top two albums of the year for me. Nothing can beat those two, nothing. At least for me.

So, overall, the statistics don’t really surprise me in any way, they just make me endlessly happy. I love that I got to spend 21.538 minutes listening to amazing music this year and that I got to share most of that fantastic music with you guys. Music is just such a huge part of my life and now that I’m on my way of turning exactly that part into my career, I’m just even more thankful and happy. This is all very crazy and very special to me. And at the end of the day it’s all thanks to those incredible bands and artists out there who produce and create this art so we can all go and listen to and enjoy it.

But, as this is a Music Day, we still of course have to get to the music part. And just as every year, I thought I’d create a little playlist of my favorite tracks of 2018. Some might not be from this year, they might be really old, and some might be so new that I’ve just stumbled over them a few days ago, but just love so much that they need to be in this list. Every single song has a special meaning to me, some may even be connected to a certain memory or moment of this year. Some may be new to you, some may won’t, as I might have already shared them with you. But, in total, they all mean a lot to me and I dearly hope you enjoy them just as much as I do.

Jumpsuit – Twenty One Pilots

If there is one song that completely blew my mind this year, then it’s this one right here.

Pictures of Girls – Wallows

According to Spotify, this is the song I’ve listened to the most this year and, frankly, I’m not surprised at all.

.
Live Outside – Enter Shikari

Completely fell for this one right here after hearing it live. Way too good to not listen to it. Way too good.

Bambi – Hippo Campus

Like Jumpsuit, this one once again completely surprised me, in the best way possible. Such a bop, honestly. The whole album is.

Surprise Yourself – Jack Garratt

I rediscovered this one a few months ago and can’t get enough of it ever since. This is literal art.

Tough – Lewis Capaldi

Lewis is definitely my musical find of the year. I’m so so so glad that I discovered him, he’s honestly such a gem. And yes, he is this good live. Breathtaking, I know.

Love It If We Made It – The 1975

Although I’m not a big fan of the album overall, this song has completely won my heart. It feels a bit like we’re back in 2013 and I love that.

Neon Gravestones – Twenty One Pilots

Lyrically this is the most important song of the year for me. Once you get behind the meaning of the lyrics, this song turns into this one special piece of art that will definitely go down in history. It’s that important. And this band is that important. Also, listen to Tyler’s voice. Please listen. Holy moly.

Hope There’s Someone – Avicii

I thought about leaving this space here blank and only adding a little caption at the end just like with the ones before. But I just can’t. 2018 is coming to an end now and although, music-wise, there have been so many incredible moments, I just want to take a second right here and once again remind us all of the fact that there were also some really heartbreaking moments. And for me, the most crushing one was definitely loosing the bright star called Tim Bergling aka Avicii. I felt my heart break the moment I heard about it this April and it’s just now that I notice how tears are rolling down my cheeks writing this and listening to this song and reminding myself of the fact that we really lost him. Tim was such an important part of my musical life and I still can’t fully believe he’s gone. But I know that he will never be forgotten because of his music. He’ll live on forever, in our hearts and on the dance floors of this world. But still, Tim, I miss you. Every single day.

There are no words.

Ain’t Coming Home – Badflite

Apart from Marty’s releases, this is probably my favorite track from the empire called STMPD Records. Listen to it and you’ll know why.

Flowerss – HALFNOISE

This is definitely one of those special tracks that I will forever have a special place in my playlist, it’s just way too extraordinary to ever forget about it.

Bear Claws – The Academic

What can I say? They’re The Academic and this is just a bop right here. Can’t get enough of it.

Y2k – The Montreals

If you haven’t given The Montreals a listen until now, please please do immediately. They’re one of those bands you really have to look out for in 2019.

Alright – Lacuna Bloome

I actually have to thank BIMM for introducing me to this band, as, believe it or not, this here is actually a band from my university. How amazing is that? And how freaking awesome is the song? Pure indie goodness.

Waiting For Tomorrow – Martin Garrix & Pierce Fulton ft. Mike Shinoda

I know I’ve already talked about this, but I’ve literally been waiting for this song forever. But the wait was so worth it. So damn good.

Butter – Leyya

Please, everyone, go and listen to this while driving and turn the volume all the way up. It’s literally the coolest feeling.

Feeling Lonely – boy pablo

This is actually my most recent find, thanks to the breathtaking lineup of next year’s Sziget festival. Thanks Sziget, can’t wait to spend a week with you next year.

Woes – Tom Rosenthal

Last but surely not least – incredibly sad and incredibly beautiful – just like everything that Tom does. And yes, of course he had to be part of this list. He should be part of everyone’s list.

.

So yeah guys, there you go. Those are my favorite songs of 2018 and the tracks that made this year the years it was and is. As I said, all of them have a special meaning to me and I love them all with every cell of my body. And I really really hope you enjoy them too. Also, I’m already so excited for what’s to come in 2019.

As always, please don’t hesitate to leave your thoughts and comments down below. And if you’ve got your Spotify statistics too, please do share them with me, I’d love to read them. Especially as I think that the music people listen to can tell you a lot about them too. Let’s be honest, music always was and still is something very intimate and personal and plain special. And that’s what I love so much about it.

Besides that, I hope you’re all doing good and wish you a nice rest of the weekend. I’m actually on my way home right now, so home home and I’m literally so damn excited. I can’t believe I haven’t been home for nearly three months. It feels like both the longest and the shortest period of time ever. And I can’t wait to finally see my pets again. Oh my god. And then it’s Christmas. God, I’m so excited. Anyways, like I said, I hope you’re all doing good and that you enjoyed this post right here. And, as always, thanks so much for reading.

Ps: On another note, something very very VERY exciting happened yesterday. Yes, you guessed right – the new Avengers trailer is out. Welcome to Avengers: Endgame. I can’t tell you how long I’ve waited for this trailer and now that it’s finally here, I can’t wrap my head around it. There’s literally nothing happening in it, but at the same time, everything is happening. And we all know that the scene at the beginning might be the death of me. I swear to everything and everyone, if they kill Tony, I’m gonna sue someone for my mental and emotional suffering. I’m not even kidding. Just please let this guy have a kid and retire with Pepper in peace. Can we please do that? Thank you.

New Music Friday

Hola everyone.

And welcome back to a new session of our all time favorite series – the beloved New Music Friday. I mean, at least I hope you all love it. I do (hehe). And guys, you seriously have no idea what’s coming at you right now. Buckle up and getting ready, because this is gonna be a hell of a ride.

.

I know it’s been quite some time since the last edition of New Music Friday, which also means that tons of new music have just been waiting for me to work and listen my through them. And oh wow, to say it was quite an experience would be such an understatement. It always makes me so so so grateful for you guys and this blog, because I actually get to share my passion and love for music with the world. I’m already spending my life doing what I love the most and I’m so thankful for that. And if I get to listen to such amazing music on top of that, then that’s just the little red cherry on top. But I know you want me to stop babbling now and just get to it, so, without further ado, let’s jump right into it, shall we?

.

Someone You Loved – Lewis Capaldi

If you’ve read my recent postings, you’ll know that I’ve just had the honor of seeing this Scottish lad perform live, which was such a beautiful experience. And now, just a few days after the concert, Lewis has once again decided to bless all of our ears by releasing another EP and with it releasing this gem right here. Again, it’s one of those songs that just make your heart break and your breathing stop for a second, but in the best possible way. It’s raw and honest and sad and melodic and so so soft. Honestly, I just adore Lewis’ music so much, I can’t help myself. I mean, listen to it. How breathtaking is this?

.

.

You Know Me Too Well – Nothing But Thieves

You guys know that I’ve been in love with these guys for quite some time now, so it probably won’t be a surprise to you to hear that I freaked out a bit when I saw that they had released a new EP. And if that wasn’t enough, the EP featured this piece of musical heaven that I can’t get enough of. For me, especially this one track is a completely new sound for them and I’m so up for it. It’s refined and soulful and the rhythm just completely draws you into it within the very first second. Also, can we please take a moment to appreciate Conor’s voice? God, it’s so amazing. Well one, guys, well freaking done.

.

.

Love – Imagine Dragons

Like I said at the beginning, there’s has been quite a huge mass of new music waiting for me and this one right here is no different. And it couldn’t get any newer than this one, as this amazing band just released their new album “Origins” today. And holy moly, what a masterpiece that is. Honestly. I mean, I’m usually the indie rock/pop kinda girl and if this album doesn’t do one thing, then it’s indie rock. But I still adore every piece of it. What is happening to me? Since when do I like this kind of music? It’s nearly unfair to be this good at making music. The lyrics are fantastic and truthful, every single track hides a bit of a secret and surprise and last but not least the amazing beats. Those are what make this album get a kind of EDM vibe to it. It’s so heavenly produced and even if you don’t like this type of music, you just have to appreciate the flawless production. And “Love” is just as awesome. I love it. Also, please listen to the lyrics. That’s what I’m talking about. (ps: please use headphones while listening to this, seriously)

.

.

Worst Nites – Foster The People

My boys are baaaack. Finally. See, that’s what I would call a groovy, flowy and funky piece of music. It’s one of those songs that just make you smile and your body move. And as with every Foster The People track it’s just another musical surprise. So, guys, when can I finally see you live? Please go on tour, yes? Thank you.

.

.

Bleed Magic – I DON’T KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME

This is one of those songs I once again have to thank Spotify for for recommending it to me. And no, I’m not screaming, that’s truly this band`s name. I don’t even want to imagine how many of my now favorite artists I wouldn’t know if it wasn’t for this platform and its amazing, personalized mixes. And once you listen to the song, you know exactly why they chose to put it on my playlist. That’s indie rock/pop at its best. It’s rhythmic and weird and just pure fun. A typical Laura song, I would say. Also, it reminds me of how a song would sound if you put The Killers and Weezer into one box and quickly shook it to get it all mixed up. A Weezer and The Killers baby. And what a beautiful one.

.

.

Sula – Hippo Campus

So, here we are again. Back with one of my favorite boys. But let me tell you one thing – this track right here is everything but new. Actually, this is one of those songs that didn’t make it onto their albums, so they just decided to release them on their own now. And honestly, I think that’s actually the most fantastic idea ever. Imagine how many songs and hidden gems never made it onto the EPs or albums of your favorite artists and are now just waiting to be released. I’m looking at you, Ed. Yes, you. Go on. But jokes aside, “Sula” honestly is an amazing piece of art and I’m so happy that they decided to put it out into the world. Thanks guys.

.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0ruS7RQkjQ

.

Echo – Saint Raymond

And last but not least we have Callum, better known as Saint Raymond, once again blessing us with his angelic voice. I don’t know about you, but I just adore his music so freaking much. I’ve been in love with it from the very first time I saw him live, which was also the first time I saw Ed live. Two incredible singer-songwriters packed into one evening, what a dream come true. But honestly, I’m still so thankful that Callum was part of this show. And I’m so happy that he’s back with some brilliant new music.

.

.

So yeah, there you go guys. That’s another New Music Friday right there. I hope you enjoy these tracks as much as I do. Honestly, I really recommend checking out some new music playlists on Spotify or Apple Music or Amazing Music or whatever. You can never know what’s waiting to be checked out by you. Maybe your new favorite song is just a click away. And maybe you even find your new fave in this list. I’d be super happy if that was the case. And even it isn’t, I still hope you enjoy this little playlist.

.

As always, please don’t hesitate to leave your thoughts and comments down below. I hope you’re all doing good and wish you a great weekend. And, of course, thanks for reading. x

Ps: Guys, guess who managed to get tickets for the one and only Tom Rosenthal today?! And no, I’m not kidding. Tom is seriously doing some shows live in London next year and I’m being part of it. I can’t believe it. I would’ve never thought that that would really happen. I feel like the luckiest person on the planet, honestly.

Welcome to the Campus

Hola everyone.

And hello weekend. Or at least Friday. And also, hello to another music recommendation on my behalf. Because today, guys, isn’t just a simple Friday like any other, no no no. Today is a very special Friday, because today is the official album launch day of a very  exceptional band called Hippo Campus, which I may or may not have talked about already (who am I kidding? I have because they are freaking fantastic).

.

So from today on there is an album out there called Bambi and unlike the movie, it isn’t meant to break everyone’s heart. But it is indeed meant to open everyone’s eyes (and ears) to the musical world out there and this new fantastic kind of music, that sounds sort of new and sort of old, both at the same time. In short, this album is a damn masterpiece and I’m going to tell you why.

.

I’ve been a fan of Hippo Campus ever since I first heard their song Suicide Saturday. And then I heard Monsoon and on top of that their live version. From that moment on I was head over heels in love with them. Actually, the live version, which I’ve shared on here probably a million times, is one of those videos I always go back to once in a while. It’s one of these special songs that I’ll probably make my grandchildren listen to, just to show them what was “in” back in the days.

.

But let’s now focus on this very new and very cool album. Personally, I would say that it’s quite a new sound for these American guys. I mean, they’ve always had their foot deep in the indie corner of the music universe, but I feel like this album gave them one last push. I mean, I was honestly completely blown away when I first heard their new single Bambi, the title track of the album. Even more so because the lyrics related so much to me. It just was the perfect song for this particular situation in my life. But the album does feel like the beginning on a new era. Of course the songs still carry their signature indie, synth sound and their evergreen trumpet lines, but especially with songs like Golden, Why Even Try and Honestly, they’ve introduced this more guitar-esque and indie-rock kind of sound to their range of musical talents. And on the other hand some of their new tracks have such an experimental and electronic vibe to them, which I totally love.

.

Overall the album isn’t just an utter masterpiece, but I feel like it’s also a huge step for the band too. It sounds bigger, more mature and it just fits. It’s an actual rollercoaster, where not one song sounds like the next, but somehow they are all perfectly in sync. There are ten songs in total and they all sound so unique and different, but together they become such an incredible cohesive unit. And if that wasn’t enough, the first and last song both fit so perfectly, it’s like you’re watching a mind-blowing sci-fi movie, but it’s an album with an epic opening and an even more epic ending. This is also why it’s extremely hard for me to chose a personal favorite. You know, when I listen to a new album that really means a lot to me, that I’ve waited for a long time, I always let myself completely fall into it. I lie down on the couch, turn down the lights, close my eyes and then let the music take over. But when there’s a part in a song that just completely surprises me or catches my heart, my eyes always fly open and I can tell you, that happened a lot in those 33 minutes it took me to listen through the album. So yeah. The album is that good, that I can’t decide which song I like the most. I can just tell you the ones I prefer mostly: Doubt (it’s love), Bambi (of course), Why Even Try (such a hit, omg), Honestly (yes, just yes), Golden (it’s pure gold).

.

But listen for yourself:

.

So yeah, welcome to the world Bambi. What an amazing album. I can’t wait to listen to it over and over again and fall for it more and more. As you can probably guess, I would highly recommend listening to it guys. Hippo Campus really are such a special band with a such a unique sound and honestly, they deserve far more attention than what they’re getting. I can’t wait to see them grow and gain popularity. So guys, stop whatever you’re doing right now and go listen to this awesome band. And then of course please don’t forget to tell me all your thoughts and opinions, because I’m more than curious. And yeah, until then I wish you all an awesome weekend, musically highlighted by Bambi, of course. And, as always, I hope you enjoyed this post/review and thanks for reading. x

.

Ps: Also, did I mention that I will actually be seeing this very awesome guys in Brighton next February? I can’t even begin to tell you guys how freaking excited I am for that. Seriously. When I saw that they would be doing a show here, I completely freaked out. Mostly because they are still very unknown I believe, especially in Austria. And of course they’re not coming to Vienna on their tour, but they’re coming to Brighton and I’m going to be there, front row, with the happiest smile on my face ever. The wait was real guys. But it was so worth it.

New Music Friday

Hola everyone.

And welcome back to another edition of New Music Friday. A late night version this time, because, well, where I’m right now it’s pretty late already. But let’s be honest, there’s always time for some good new music, especially on a blog like this one, right? So, without further ado, let’s get right to it – here are some new songs I’ve been digging the past days or weeks or even just hours (yep, that’s how new some of them are).

.

Bambi by Hippo Campus

Some of you may already know this band from my previous posts, but if you don’t, welcome to this completely new experience, you’re going to love it, trust me. Because Hippo Campus just popped up with this new single and holy moly, what a good one that is. I fell for it the second I heard it. And then even more when I saw that they had also released their upcoming tour dates – guess who’s coming to Brighton when I’m there too… I can’t believe it, I would have never guessed that I would ever see this band live. But here I am, already counting the days to it. I seriously can’t wait to hear this song live.

To You Alone (acoustic version) by Tom Rosenthal

Well, what can I say? There’s no music list without Tom being a part of it, it’s simply impossible. And as if his music wasn’t beautiful enough already, Tom has now decided to bring out a sleepy album (I think I already mentioned it in a past posting), which means he’s producing even more relaxed and quiet versions of his songs, so that people can fall asleep while listening to them. And it works, at least it did for me, because when this song came out at midnight, I crawled into bed and listened to it in an endless loop and then, well, it knocked me out, pretty much. So yes, it’s a beautiful song and I love it. Oh, and it also perfectly fits for rainy weather. Well done Tom, as always.

My Blood by Twenty One Pilots

Attention everyone, we’ve got an extra special piece of music here. If you guys know Twenty One Pilots, you also probably know that they don’t really fit into genres. Josh and Tyler don’t just produce one certain kind of music, they basically experiment, all the time. So it was no surprise that their new song, this one right here, basically knocked me off my feet. It’s such a unique and also new sound for them and has such cool indie pop vibes to it. I love it so so so much. And I love the boys for surprising us all over and over again.

Bee-Sting by The Wombats

This song literally came out of nowhere, I swear guys. I wasn’t even ready and suddenly there it was, right in my recommendations on Spotify. And holy moly, what a great song this is. I mean, you all know how much I like The Wombats and I’d say that this little number here perfectly fits into their album, but it’s also just so good on its own. The drums and the guitars and of course the vocals – it just fits. And I’ve always loved a great indie bop, so thanks guys.

Y2k by The Montreals

To be honest, I just stumbled over this song thanks to Spotify and immediately liked it so much that I had to share it with you. I don’t know if I’ve ever told you about The Montreals, but they are one of those bands of mine that always come on when I just put my playlist on shuffle, which doesn’t make them any less amazing, of course. They produce this really cool indie pop music that is packed with happy, excited vibes and I completely dig that. But just like TOP, they wanted to surprise us all and released this fantastic song that sounds so new and modern and old and retro at the same time. It’s just so cool.
