Eurovision 2017

Hola everyone.

Today I’d like to talk about something typically European. Something not everyone in this world knows about. And one of the biggest music shows in the world with 42 countries taking part – Eurovision. Or as I would call it now – why Bulgaria should have won.

.

The Eurovision Song Contest is an international music competition. All of the attendees sing original songs, sometimes also in their original language, so it’s basically all about that multi-culturalism. And the music, of course. But also so much more.

.

Actually I had to watch the show this year because it was meant to be homework. But of course I just ended up staying up until long after midnight to see who wins and then, at least this year, totally freaking out about the guy who got to the second place – Kristian Kostov from Bulgaria.

.

This year’s actual winner was Salvador Sobral from Portugal. While I really wished that Kris would have won, I don’t mean to say that Salvador didn’t deserve to win. His song and performance truly was special. It’s a quiet, calm ballade sung in the original language – so I actually have no idea what the song is about. As soon as he started singing the audience went completely quiet and I guess that’s one of the reason why he was a favorite from the beginning on. He’s able to create a magical, calm moment in a apart from that huge mess of colours and pop and dancing and strong, loud voices. So yeah, I get why he won.

.

.

But that doesn’t change my opinion that Kris should have won. Here’s why… Before every performance at Eurovision, you get to see a little clip of the artist who is about to take the stage. And I was sitting on the couch, my mum next to me and Kris came on and I was like “holy moly, how old is this guy?”. Actually, he’s just 17. SEVENTEEN. Can you imagine? He’s the youngest singer to ever be part of Eurovision. And that’s just crazy. So yeah, I knew he was young and I already thought that it was so cool that someone that young could be a part of this huge show.

.

And then he came on stage and started to sing. And I was immediately blown away. I just couldn’t believe that such an amazing, incredible and mature voice came out of such a small bean of a person. I was and still am amazed. So Kris sang his song, pretty much had me speechless afterwards and then I just hoped for him to win. Unfortunately he “only” made it to the second place, which in my opinion is pretty amazing too. And as I got informed, also the highest position Bulgaria ever got to in the history of this competition. So well done Kris.

.

.

Have you ever met or seen someone and experienced what that person is capable of doing and how much talent that person has and you just want the world to know? That’s how I’m feeling about Kris. I just really want him to become famous – the good version, of course. His voice needs to be heard all around the world, he’s just too good. And I know that he has the potential.

.

But it’s not just his voice. From what I’ve seen, he’s just a really good soul too. After the show was over he had an interview and he actually started crying because he was so sad that he couldn’t make his country proud and bring the trophy home. How tragic is that? He’s 17 and just at the start of his career, he shouldn’t be sad and apologizing that he got to the second place, because that’s just as amazing. And I’m 100 percent sure that he made Bulgaria proud nonetheless. It’s an incredible achievement.

.

Since Eurovision I’ve been following Kris on social media, mostly Instagram and I’ve become quite a fan of his Instagram stories (here’s the link to his profile: instagram.com). Most of the time he speaks Russian or Bulgarian (I think?), so I basically don’t understand one single word, but it’s still as cute. And that’s probably also a reason why I’ve become a fan. It’s not just his amazing song that I’ve been listening to 24/7, but also the aspect that I’ve never really been a fan of somebody from an eastern country. So it’s all really new to me and just so damn interesting. And extremely fascinating.

.

So yeah, that’s my story about Kristian Kostov, a 17-year-old guy who sang himself into my heart. I’d really really love to see him become internationally known, because he deserves it. And quoting different people and fans from the internet who just put it perfectly into words – he’s a ball of sunshine and needs to be protected at all costs.

.

Did any of you watch this year’s contest? What do you think? Who should have won in your opinion? I’d be really interested and happy to hear from some of you guys. And until then I hope you’re all doing well and that you enjoyed this post. And, as always, thanks for reading. x

13 Reasons Why

Hola everyone.

So I guess you probably already know what I’ll talking about today. Yes, it happened. After such a long time of fighting against it, Netflix has finally defeated me too. But I just had to give in. Do any of you guys own a twitter profile? Literally everything people were and still are talking about is this tv series “Thirteen Reasons Why”. And me being the movie and tv series fan I am, I just had to fall for it sooner or later.

.

So I downloaded it. I now have this free trial for one month – I won’t have it any longer I think, Amazon Prime and Sky should be enough – and it’s just the perfect amount of time for me to try out as much as I can. And right now, I’m kind of binge-watching 13 Reasons Why, of course. And I have to say, I really do like it. I haven’t read the book and usually I’m not into such teenage drama stuff, but this show really keeps me in front of the screen, wanting more and more.

.

I’m currently at episode 9 and craving to find out what Clay really did – no spoilers please. So far the show never happened to let me down or bore me, which is a really good sign. There’s just one critic point – the whole story. I mean, I know that the book and the show is about Hannah, but I sometimes think she really did take herself a little bit too important (please don’t kill me in the comments). I know why the other students sometimes say that she just wants attention. But on the other hand I’m so damn sorry for her and think “oh wow, it’s really important to be nice to people”. And I guess that’s what the book/show wants to tell us – just be kind to people. You never know what really goes on in their life so it’s always better to bring them happiness and not even more pain.

.

But I guess I’m already pretty late on this trend. If any of you have already seen it or read the book – what did you think? Oh and is the book better than the show? I’m really curious. And I’m really excited to watch the last 4 episodes, I can’t wait. Oh and guys, I really hope you enjoyed this short insight on what I’m enjoying tv-wise right now. And I hope you’re all doing well. And, as always, thanks for reading. x

Ps: What besides this one would you recommend me watching? Riverdale? Black Mirror? Please hit me up with some ideas guys. Thaaanks. x

xoxo, Gossip Girl

Hola everyone.

As you probably know I’m currently going to college. And in order to be able to do that I had to move and now I “live” in a dorm, which means no TV or anything. So, as you might guess already, I depend on my laptop. I can watch movies and TV shows over Sky Go and Amazon Prime, but no common TV programs. So, in order to not die of complete boredom I had to find a new show to watch. And I found it – Gossip Girl.

.

I knew the show before, because like who doesn’t know it? But I didn’t know much about it, I just had the idea that it was a pretty superficial teenie drama series with nothing much that was valuable. But I love fashion, so out of boredom I just gave it a chance and clicked play. I think it was already January when I started.

.

And guess what? I just finished the complete show yesterday – 6 seasons, 121 episodes in less than two months. I binge watched it every single day since I started and now I basically don’t know what to do with my life, seriously.

.

I never thought that I would get so caught up in the show, I really didn’t. And now I completely love it. At the beginning I didn’t exactly enjoy it THAT much, I thought the whole bitchy superficial attitudes were dumb and I just watched it because I had nothing else. But then the characters started to develop and more and more complex  small stories began to build up and I liked it more and more. That’s also the point why I fell in love with. At the beginning all of the characters seemed so unreal to me, but then the whole show came to life and the characters with it.

.

Personally, Blair and Chuck are my favorite characters. Their love story was the main reason why I continued to watch the series, I wanted to know if they will ever be able to be together or not. God, how much I cried because of them… And slowly Blair became my spirit animal – she’s strong, she fights for her love and her dreams, she believes in herself and she likes the person she is and let’s none stop her from doing that. Besides that, I’m pretty much completely in love with her Elie Saab wedding dress – I’ll leave a link to the picture down below. Overall, nearly every single outfit in the show is breathtaking. I know, someone like me could never afford one single dress they are wearing but would be a life without dreams?

.

And my least favorite characters? To be honest, the longer I watched, the more I started to hate Serena. Like really hate. She just annoyed the hell out of me. At the beginning she seemed like the nice girl, but then I noticed who true the things were everyone else was saying about her. She basically got everything she wanted, she was fake at some point, she never had to take responsibility for anything she did and even when she hurt the people around her, they just all forgave her everything although she hardly ever forgave them. I don’t know, her attitude just annoyed me. And according to what I saw on the internet, Blair and Chuck are everyone’s favorite –  if you search for Gossip Girl on Tumblr, they are the ones appearing.

.

But if I ignore that one fact, I have to say that I liked every single character, even Serena. Because they turned the show into the one it is now. I think, the more seasons I watched, the better did the show get. I especially loved the last three seasons as the stories got more and more complex. And I love the ending, when they finally reveal who Gossip Girl truly is.

.

After all, I’m really really happy that I started the show. I had a certain prejudice, but I have to admit that I was totally wrong. I think, if you like fashion, complex love stories, friends basically ruining each others lives and then rescuing them again and of course New York City, then the show is perfect for you. I can only recommend it, really. And in honor of the series, I’m gonna end this post the same as the show…

.

You know you love me. xoxo, Gossip Girl
